“I suggest we make Vincarna a Warden,” Astraea suggested with a smile.
“Impossible,” Hades immediately replied, while Hel smirked and said, “Astraea, please tell me you're joking.”
However, after Astraea simply smiled in response, Hel’s smile turned into a frown before saying, “You know very well that there has been no warden in over two thousand years.”
King Yamma nodded in agreement before continuing, “A Warden needs to be neutral between all the races, something which is impossible unless you find an individual who is the only one of their race. Vincarna is a human, which means he will naturally be biased towards them and so can’t become a Warden.”
“Even if we agreed with you, the Goddess of Creation Tijuana would never allow it,” Osiris stated.
“Plus, why should we even support someone who has already refused our offer?” Hades added.
{Tijuana? Goddess of Creation? I wonder if that’s Tia’s character name? I guess it would make sense that she would be the Goddess of Creation if she had a character.} Adam thought as Astraea’s smile increased and she said. “Well, Vincarna here refused your so-called generous offer because he has no intention of serving another. Isn’t it fortunate then that the Warden stands apart from all others, including the gods, as they are meant to be impartial after all.
Also, it seems rather fortuitous then that I have already received Tijuana’s approval.”
“You what?” Elrinira asked as all the gods showed shocked expressions. “You spoke with the Goddess of Creation, Tijuana?”
“Technically, she spoke to me,” Astraea replied, causing Hades to frown before saying. “Impossible. Even my foolish brother and other godkings of pantheons rarely get to speak with Tijuana, so why would she personally address you, a mere constellation.”
Almost the instant after Hades had finished speaking, the clouds in the sky parted before a beam of golden light shot down from the sky, encompassing John and forcing Astraea to back away while the other seven gods all stood from their thrones in shocked silence.
“You were saying,” Astraea said with a warm smile just as notifications appeared in John’s vision.
[NOTICE: Class Change Notification]
[Class: Warden]
[Wardens not only watch over the doors of death like Sheolarbiters, which helps maintain and protect the eternal cycle of existence, but are also the protectors of the other eternal cycles, namely time and the universe. However, only those who are impartial to all the races and gods of the realms are qualified to become wardens because balance is the key to everything.]
[As a Warden, you are able to learn all known spells, skills and abilities; even class-specific ones will not be out of reach to you, should you meet the requirements.]
[Wardens have the ability to take on four different stances, namely: Warden Stance, Existence Stance, Time Stance and Universe Stance, with each stance changing their combat style respectively.]
[Your base form; the Warden Stance is that of a protector, and as such you will gain one extra stat to strength and two to spirit with every level up.]
[When changing stances, your stat points will be redistributed to coincide with that particular stance.]
[Do you wish to change class to Warden?]
[Yes] [No]

John read over the notification in amazement before looking at Astraea and asking, “Why?”
“Why were you chosen to be the Warden by the Goddess of Creation?” Astraea asked, prompting Ereshkigal to say. “I would also like to know that.”
“While I don’t know all the details, I do know that so far in your life you have not been treated favourably by your race,” Astraea replied, causing Elrinira to glance at Ninth Wonder of the World out of the corner of her eye and see a sad expression.
“Because of this, Tijuana believes that you're actually more likely to favour the other races of your own,” Astraea continued. “Then there is the fact that you were kind enough to help an injured bear cub, instead of killing it to grow stronger. You were able to hunt down Elrinira and return her to the underworld, well within the allotted time limit and even prevented her from having to fight her own sister, something that would have hurt her emotionally. Last and most importantly, in my personal opinion, is that you didn’t shy away from letting Elrinira take Francis away for punishment after what he did to that elf and many animals.”
“I was only able to find Elrinira because of the blessing Lord Ursa bestowed upon me; without that, I might have never found her or been forced to deal some with that old swindler just to learn his information, even after you unlocked my skill,” John replied.
“Then it’s a good thing you figured out how to work your Guidance spell,” Astraea said with a smile. “All that old swindler would have been able to tell you is that Elrinira was not within human-controlled territories.”
“Who is this old swindler you keep referring to?” Lucifer asked with interest.
“One of your Sheolarbiter’s in Waning City, called Fergon Chaz,” Astraea replied. “He attempted to swindle young Vincerna here just so he didn’t need to deliver his report himself.”
“Damn bastard needs to be punished,” Elrinira cursed angrily. “If he had succeeded, my sister might still be in the hands of that sad, pathetic excuse for a man.”
“Unlikely,” John replied, attracting the attention of all the gods as he continued. “He only offered to unlock my balance skill early, so in the end I still would have most likely found you and been able to use it against Francis. If you insist on punishing him, punish him for trying to swindle me and the damage he could have caused to my mantle, not for preventing your sister's rescue.”
Astraea’s eyes seemed to sparkle even more brightly than normal as she heard his response, while Elrinira frowned before asking, “Very well, how exactly would he have damaged your mantle?”
“Err,” John replied since he wasn’t sure; however, Astraea spoke up and said. “His mantle's balance spell would have had its cooldown time permanently increased, while the mantle itself would have lost faith in Vincarna.”
“Lost faith in Vincarna?” Hel repeated before focusing on Phanta and saying. “A living gear, I see. It would indeed have lost faith in Vincarna should what you describe have taken place.”
“We will be sure to reprimand this Sheolarbiter,” King Yamma said, nodding. “He is there to keep an eye on things in the realm of the living, not to swindle those to whom we have given tasks.
“I agree. How should we punish him?” Lucifer replied as the seven gods broke out into discussion.
As they did so, Astraea looked at Elrinira before using her godly powers to communicate with her telepathically. {Elrinira, I have some advice for you if you're willing to hear it.}
{Go on.} Elrinira replied as she turned to Astraea.
{Offer Vincarna your blessing.}
{Seriously? You must be kidding, right? You know very well that, as a goddess of the underworld, my blessing would come with a cost}
Astraea smiled before asking, {I’m aware, but aren't you planning to offer it to that young girl next to you in the future, should she prove to be a worthy messer?}
{That’s different, and you know it.} Elrinira replied. {This girl is not a virgin, and she is very open to the act of sex, whereas Vincarna is not.}
{I'm sure you have guessed the reason.}
{He was most likely hurt, cheated on or betrayed by a woman in the past, and that’s why he was so wary of me, my being a succuba and all.}
{It would also explain why he has not made a move on any of the women around him, even when several of them attempted to flirt with him.}
{Exactly my point. You know my blessing comes with a cost he would most likely be unwilling to fulfil, and as such he will hate me for forcing it on him.}
{Oh my, what's this? Is the succuba queen worried about one human male hating her?} Astraea asked as her eyes seemed to sparkle with amusement. {The one woman in all of existence who can probably match Aphrodite’s body count?}
{Don’t lump me in with that cheating whore.} Elrinira scowled. {She may have been tricked into marrying Hephaestus, but that doesn’t mean she can go around cheating on him.}
{Perhaps, or perhaps you're just jealous that you wont be able to sleep with any other man once you take a husband.}
{As long as I make sure my husband's cock is good enough to satisfy me, and he has a harem of beautiful women, I’ll be fine. But what about you?}
{What about me?}
{If you're so interested in Vincarna, why don’t you offer him your blessing?}
{He has yet to prove worthy of receiving my blessing. Unlike with you and Ursa Minor, he has yet to directly assist me or earn it in other ways. Though I will admit his choice of punishment for both Francis and Fergon Chaz was sound.}
