Elrinira thought for a moment as she gazed at John before nodding and saying, {Alright then, but only if he accepts.}

John jumped slightly as he suddenly heard the voice inside his head and began to glance around before realising that it was Astraea’s voice, and so turned to look at her in amazement and nod.

So in the end he just sighed, after which he made a slight shake of his head before slowly breaking eye contact.

{You mean not right now?} Astraea asked in confirmation, to which John nodded.

{I understand.} Astraea replied before looking towards Elrinira again and saying telepathically. {I don’t think he’s totally opposed to the idea, but there is obviously something that he doesn’t like about your blessing. I suggest we continue this talk in private later.}

{Oh God, he had me worried for a second there; I thought he had straight up refused my blessing.} Elrinira said with a sigh, just as Ereshkigal frowned and asked. “What are you two secretly discussing?”

“What do you mean?” Elrinira asked innocently.

“Don’t give me that; I’ve been watching your reactions for the last few seconds,” Ereshkigal said accusingly. “I know you two were discussing something in secret.”

“And what if we were?” Elrinira retorted. “If it concerned you, we would have already told you.”

“Enough,” King Yamma replied before turning to John and saying, “Young Vincarna, make your decision. Will you become a Warden or not?”

“I accept,” John replied.
