Chapter 229 - 203: Energy Block

Chapter 229: Chapter 203: Energy Block

With the crisis that had occurred every ten days now gone, Ye Yun’s pace of expansion quickened rapidly.

Previously, he had to consider the attacks that came every ten days, which meant that having more shelters would spread his defensive forces thinner.

But now that this was no longer a concern, all Ye Yun needed to do was continuously accumulate enough blue components and then use the purple-rarity skill, "Colonist," to expand relentlessly.

As the shelter continued to develop and expand, Ye Yun knew deep down that they needed more resources and more space to support their future progress.

Therefore, he began to prepare plans to expand the shelter to accommodate the growing population and demand for resources.

「The next morning.」

A mission screen appeared before Ye Yun’s eyes once again.

[Mission 1: Investigation]

[Description: Team members on patrol have discovered some strange figures appearing near the shelter.]

[Objective: Investigate the purpose of these strange figures.]

[Reward: 100x Blue Components]

[New Mission 2: Annihilation]

[Description: A small group of Corpse Ghosts has appeared near the shelter. They seem to be continuously infecting other mutated creatures, causing their population to expand rapidly.]

[Objective: Kill all the Corpse Ghosts within 7 days.]

[Reward: 1x Random Blue-Rarity Blueprint, 50x Blue Components]

[New Mission 3: Find Energy Source]

[Description: Your exploration of the research institute was cut short due to a lack of power. Try to find a new energy source through any means possible.]

[Objective: Obtain 10 power cells within 15 days.]

[Reward: 1x Random Green-Rarity Blueprint, 150x Blue Components]

Looking at the three missions before him, Ye Yun narrowed his eyes.

Ye Yun carefully analyzed the three missions, weighing the pros and cons of each.

Mission One concerned the security of the area around the shelter. Investigating the purpose of the strange figures was crucial to ensuring the shelter’s safety.

Mission Two was directly related to the shelter’s survival. The Corpse Ghosts’ infectious capabilities were extremely potent, and if they weren’t dealt with quickly, they could pose a grave threat to the shelter.

Mission Three was vital for the shelter’s long-term development. Energy was the key to advancing both the research institute and the shelter, and finding a new source would be instrumental in raising their technological level and productivity.

Ye Yun thought for a moment before finally making a decision.

He chose to accept all three missions.

He would prioritize ensuring the shelter’s safety and survival, but at the same time, he would keep an eye out for opportunities to find an energy source, seeking to acquire one while completing the first two missions.

Ye Yun immediately summoned the shelter’s core members, including Zhou Mei, Leo, Lin Hao, Neil, and Bena, and briefly explained the missions to them.

"We have three missions before us. I’ve decided to prioritize the first and second ones," Ye Yun said in a low voice.

"Mission One requires us to investigate the strange figures near the shelter to secure our surroundings.

Mission Two requires us to eliminate the Corpse Ghost threat as soon as possible to prevent them from continuing to infect mutated creatures."

Everyone nodded in understanding.

"Zhou Mei, Leo, you two will organize an investigation team and look into the strange figures near the shelter," Ye Yun commanded.

"Lin Hao, Neil, you will lead the hunting party and be responsible for clearing out the Corpse Ghosts near the shelter to ensure our safety," Ye Yun continued.

"Bena, you’re in charge of coordinating and supervising the entire operation to ensure the missions proceed smoothly." Ye Yun looked at Bena.

"Understood," the three of them replied in unison.

Ye Yun nodded. "Good. Everyone, move out immediately. We’ll strive to complete these missions in the shortest time possible."

The group immediately sprang into action and began preparing for their tasks.

Following Ye Yun’s arrangements, the members of the shelter moved out quickly, each starting their assigned mission.

Zhou Mei and Leo stood on high ground, their gazes piercing through the desolate wasteland as they watched the strange figures that appeared and disappeared under the cover of night.

Behind them was a well-trained investigation team, and every member was outfitted with high-quality gear.

"Leo, we need to be careful," Zhou Mei said in a low voice. "These figures don’t look ordinary, and there are quite a few of them. We can’t let our guard down."

Leo nodded, his expression firm and calm.

"Don’t worry. We’ll just follow them from a distance. We won’t make contact rashly."

Over the next few days, the investigation team began their tense and meticulous reconnaissance work.

They discovered that the figures always came out at night, hiding in abandoned buildings or underground shelters during the day.

"Look, it seems like they’re searching for food and water," a team member reported promptly.

Zhou Mei and Leo exchanged a look. They realized these survivors were likely having a tougher time than they had imagined.

As the investigation deepened, they began to learn about the survivors’ physical and mental states.

Due to long-term exposure to radiation, their skin had an unnatural pallor, and a strange light flickered in their eyes.

Furthermore, the constant attacks from mutated creatures kept their nerves perpetually on edge.

"We have to be careful," Leo reminded the team. "Their minds might be fractured, which could make them highly aggressive."

However, after several days of observation, Zhou Mei and Leo found that the survivors showed no signs of aggression. They simply wandered aimlessly through the wasteland, searching for a chance to survive.

"It seems they don’t mean any harm," Zhou Mei sighed, "but their very presence is a potential risk to our shelter."
