"Everyone, remember," Lin Hao reminded the team as they laid the traps, "as soon as the creature falls into the trap, we move immediately. No hesitation, no mercy. Our survival is on the line."

Once the traps were set, the team began the long wait. They hid in nearby cover, watching every movement in the trapped area via remote surveillance equipment. The minutes ticked by, but the mutated creature didn’t appear, causing some team members to grow restless.

"Boss, how much longer do we have to wait?" a young team member whispered.

"Until it shows up," Neil replied, his voice calm and firm. "Patience is what we need most right now."

Just as night began to fall, the surveillance equipment suddenly blared an alarm. The screen showed a massive dark shape slowly entering the trapped area. Lin Hao and Neil tensed immediately, issuing the order to prepare for combat over the radio.

The mutated creature entered the trapped area, each step it took seeming unusually cautious. However, it failed to detect the mechanisms hidden underground. When it was squarely in the center of the trap, Lin Hao pressed the button on the remote.

BOOM! With a tremendous roar, the pit trap in the ground was triggered, and the mutated creature instantly plunged downward. Immediately after, the barbed spikes and explosive devices activated in succession, creating a chain of explosions and sending dirt flying.

"Move out!" Lin Hao commanded.

The team members rushed from their cover, weapons in hand, and closed in on the trapped area. When they arrived, the mutated creature was struggling to climb out of the deep pit, its body covered with wounds.

"Open fire!" Neil ordered.

The team immediately unleashed a furious barrage of attacks, with bullets and energy beams constantly striking the mutated creature. However, the creature’s vitality was abnormally tenacious. It let out a deafening roar and began to counterattack.

The battle grew incredibly fierce. The mutated creature’s strength and speed far surpassed the team’s expectations. Some members were injured in its assault, but no one backed down. Lin Hao and Neil continuously adjusted their tactics, directing the team to attack and withdraw in an orderly fashion.

"Concentrate fire on its head!" Lin Hao yelled.

The team members quickly adjusted their aim, focusing all their attacks on the mutated creature’s head. Under round after round of concentrated fire, the creature finally couldn’t take any more. With one last roar, it collapsed to the ground.

"We did it!" Neil wiped the sweat from his brow. A victorious smile spread across his face as he looked at the fallen creature.

Lin Hao, however, was more focused on the creature’s potential research value. "We’ll take the corpse back. The research team might be able to find some important clues from it."

The team members began to carefully extract the creature’s corpse from the trap, sealing it in a special container. They knew this was more than just a victory in battle; it was the start of a scientific breakthrough.

On the way back to the shelter, Lin Hao and Neil discussed the lessons learned from the mission.

"This mission gave us a much better understanding of this type of mutated creature’s abilities," said Lin Hao. "That will be a great help for our future defenses and research."
