Chapter 243: Chapter 210: New Missions
After completing all the tasks, the mission screen appeared before Ye Yun once more.
Mission 1: Security Patrol
Description: Strengthen security patrols around the shelter to prevent external threats.
Objective: Complete at least 10 security patrols within 15 days.
Rewards: 1x Random Green Blueprint, 75x Green Components, 50x White Components.
Mission 2: Cultural Exchange
Description: Promote cultural exchange inside and outside the shelter to foster understanding.
Objective: Organize at least one cultural exchange event within 20 days.
Rewards: 1x Random Blueprint, 100x Green Components, 50x White Components.
Mission 3: Biological Sample Collection
Description: Collect biological samples from different species for research.
Objective: Collect at least five different biological samples within 20 days. Rewards: 1x Biological Sample Kit, 1x Purple Component.
Looking at the missions that appeared before him, Ye Yun frowned slightly.
’The rewards for Mission 1 are decent,’ he thought, ’but the green blueprints and components are of limited help to the shelter’s long-term development.’
’Mission 2’s cultural exchange event would be good for improving the shelter’s cohesion and influence, but it requires careful planning and organization.’
’Mission 3, collecting biological samples, is crucial for the research team’s work, and the purple component reward is very tempting.’
Ye Yun weighed the pros and cons of the three missions and decided on a balanced strategy.
He assigned Mission 1 and Mission 3 to Lin Hao and Neil. They had just completed the task of hunting mutated creatures and had extensive experience with these types of missions.
"Lin Hao, Neil, you’re in charge of Mission 1’s security patrols and Mission 3’s biological sample collection," Ye Yun told them.
"We need to ensure the shelter’s safety while also providing the research team with more materials for their studies."
Lin Hao and Neil nodded. They immediately began their preparations, assigning team members and drawing up patrol routes and a sample collection plan.
Ye Yun assigned Mission 2 to Zhou Mei and Leo. They possessed outstanding abilities in construction and resource development, and also had a degree of cultural knowledge and organizational skill.
"Zhou Mei, Leo, you’re responsible for organizing the cultural exchange event," Ye Yun said to them. "We need to foster greater understanding and friendship with other shelters and settlements to lay the foundation for our shelter’s long-term development."
Zhou Mei and Leo also expressed their understanding. They began planning the event’s content, contacting other shelters and settlements, and preparing the necessary supplies and venue.
"Bena, you’re in charge of the security patrols."
Under Ye Yun’s arrangements, the three teams began their respective missions.
At Ye Yun’s command, the teams sprang into action, dedicating themselves to their assigned tasks.
Lin Hao and Neil gathered their team under the first rays of the morning sun. They stood before the shelter’s main gate, facing a group of hand-picked members, each outfitted with the necessary weapons and equipment.
"Listen up, everyone," Lin Hao’s voice was firm and strong. "Our mission is to protect the shelter and provide the research team with valuable study materials. We’ll split into two groups. The first group will follow me on security patrol. The second group will go with Neil to collect biological samples."
Neil nodded and continued, "The patrol group needs to stay vigilant. Report any anomalies immediately. The collection group needs to prioritize safety. We could be facing unknown dangers."
"Understood, Captain!" the team members replied in unison.
Lin Hao waved his hand, and the two groups quickly split up to begin their respective tasks.
The patrol group, led by Lin Hao, moved slowly along the shelter’s outer perimeter. They checked every possible entry point, making sure no mutated creatures or other potential threats were approaching.
"Keep your eyes peeled," Lin Hao reminded his team members. "Any unusual tracks could be a sign of a threat."
They passed through a dense forest, where sunlight dappled the ground through the canopy. Suddenly, a team member spotted some strange tracks.
"Captain, there are some prints here. They don’t look human," the team member said, pointing at the tracks on the ground.
Lin Hao knelt down and carefully observed the footprints. "These tracks are large. They might belong to some kind of large mutated creature. We need to increase the patrol frequency in this area and set some traps, just in case."
They continued onward, setting up traps and alarm devices at key locations. Lin Hao knew they couldn’t allow any threat to reach the shelter’s residents.
Meanwhile, Neil’s collection group ventured deep into the wilderness. They carried various tools and containers, ready to capture and collect biological samples from different species.
"Our objective is to collect at least five different biological samples," Neil told his team. "Remember, our mission is collection, not combat. Don’t take unnecessary risks unless you have to."
They crossed the wilderness and arrived at a wetland. The biodiversity here was rich, making it an ideal location for collecting samples.
"Spread out, but maintain visual and communication contact," Neil ordered. "Look for creatures with unusual characteristics. They might have high research value."
The team members began their search in the wetland. They carefully approached various creatures, using capture nets and tranquilizer guns to obtain samples. Neil, meanwhile, used his professional expertise to guide them on how to correctly collect and preserve the specimens.
"Careful, there’s what looks like a radiation frog over there," a team member said in a low voice. "Its skin color is very unusual."
"Good. That’s exactly the kind of sample we need," Neil responded. "Use a tranquilizer gun, then quickly collect skin and blood samples."
