When they arrived at the foot of the mountains, they saw a massive stone stele towering before them, ancient characters were carved into its surface, exuding a mysterious aura.
"Young Master, there doesn’t seem to be any danger in this secret realm, and I can’t even read the text on this stele!" Cecilia looked at the characters, somewhat baffled.
[Your comprehension is God-Tier. Through the lingering charm of the script, you have deciphered the ancient text!]
"This is..." Adam stared intently at the stele, a flash of shock crossing his eyes.
"What’s wrong?" Cecilia could not help but ask upon seeing his expression.
Adam took a deep breath. "What is recorded on this stone stele is actually information about the Imperial Artifact."
"The Imperial Artifact?" Cecilia was equally shocked.
Adam nodded. "That’s right, the stele says the Imperial Artifact is hidden within this mountain range, but to obtain it, one must pass a series of trials."
"Trials?" Cecilia frowned.
"Yes, and according to the records, these trials are extremely dangerous, one could even lose their life."
"Does it specify what they are?"
"No, it only states they are highly perilous trials set personally by the Great Emperor!" Adam shook his head.
Cecilia fell silent for a moment. "Then what should we do? Are we still going to look for the Imperial Artifact?"
Adam’s gaze was firm. "We’re already here, we can’t return empty-handed, since these trials were laid down by the Great Emperor himself, there might be a heaven-defying fortuitous encounter waiting."
"More importantly, the Human race needs this Imperial Artifact, humanity’s resources have been continuously exploited by the Heavenly Court, and top-tier combat power is virtually extinct, only with an Imperial Artifact will we have the capital to stand against the Heavenly Court!"
Looking into Adam’s eyes, warmth spread through Cecilia’s heart, she knew that no matter what difficulties lay ahead, Adam would press forward without hesitation, he had truly taken the burden of the Human race upon his shoulders, although her Young Master had not joined the army, she knew it was because his strength was still lacking.
Right now, it simply was not the time for him to make his move yet.
The two began their ascent up the mountain range, the journey along the way was eerily peaceful.
Just like outside the secret realm, the environment was picturesque, but there was not a single trace of living vitality.
Thinking about it, this made sense, who knew how long this secret realm had existed? No ordinary creature could live this long, besides, this was a Great Emperor’s secret seclusion ground, if living creatures had been let in, heaven knew what would have become of the place.
Despite this, they did not let their guard down in the slightest, since both the Book Saint and the stone stele had warned of danger, it was absolutely not as peaceful as it appeared.
Following the map given by the Book Saint, they ventured deeper and deeper until they reached the innermost depths.
There, they discovered an ancient divine temple nestled among the peaks, it radiated a powerful aura, as if supreme majesty was suppressing the entire mountain range.
"This must be the Great Emperor’s resting palace!" Adam took a deep breath as he looked at the temple.
"Young Master, are we going in?" Cecilia asked with concern, the danger had to be waiting inside.
"Of course, we’ve already made it this far, how can we back down?" Resolve flashed in Adam’s eyes as he pulled Cecilia’s hand and strode toward the divine temple.
The temple featured a heavy stone door.
"Young Master, why would the Great Emperor build such a massive palace here?" Cecilia was puzzled.
"The outside is already a separate world, why create such a complex secret realm on top of it?"
"I’m not sure myself!" Adam shook his head, it did seem redundant.
"Let’s go inside first!"
Adam reached out toward the stone door, but just before contact, a bolt of purple lightning materialized out of thin air on the stone’s surface.
He hastily withdrew his hand, the power of that purple lightning was astonishing.
"Ever since that boy escaped last time, someone has finally come again!"
A weather-beaten, ancient voice echoed throughout the divine temple, it sounded as though it had traveled through endless time and space, impossible to pinpoint its source.
Adam and Cecilia exchanged a glance, gravity flashing in both their eyes, why was there someone here?
"Senior, this junior is Adam, I mean no offense, I have merely come seeking the Imperial Artifact, I beg for Senior’s understanding," Adam spoke respectfully.
"The Imperial Artifact?" The voice chuckled lightly.
"You two certainly don’t lack the audacity to ask!"
"Senior, the Human race is facing a dire crisis and desperately needs the Imperial Artifact’s aid!"
The voice fell silent before speaking slowly. "The Imperial Artifact is a supreme treasure left behind by the Great Emperor, how could it be given to just anyone? If you wish to obtain it, you must first pass my trial."
"A trial?"
Adam and Cecilia exchanged a glance, it was finally here.
"Please enlighten us, Senior!" Adam cupped his fists.
"There’s no rush, figure out a way to open this door first!"
The voice echoed once more, and the purple lightning on the stone door surged with increasing intensity, as if it could tear the very void apart.
They met each other’s eyes, seeing unwavering determination, they would not back down, nor could they.
Adam took a deep breath, spiritual energy surged wildly within his body as he thrust both hands against the stone door, meanwhile, Cecilia drew her longsword, aiming the tip at the door, ready for any sudden developments.
Boom!
Despite pushing with all his might, the stone door did not budge an inch, purple electrical currents arced continuously across its surface.
A massive rebounding force shot back, forcing Adam to stumble backward several steps.
"What formidable defensive power!" Surprise flashed across his eyes.
"Young Master, be careful!" Cecilia warned.
Adam nodded, he knew this trial was by no means simple, but he absolutely would not give up.
He took another deep breath and channeled his spiritual energy again, this time, he unleashed his full strength, with hands glowing with dazzling radiance, he slammed them against the stone door.
Boom!
This time, the stone door finally loosened by a fraction, however, an even stronger burst of purple lightning erupted, surging forward as if seeking to swallow them whole.
Adam and Cecilia flickered, dodging the purple lightning’s assault, but they knew this approach wouldn’t work in the long run.
