Soren smiled at her, unbothered. "What do you think? Let me hear it."

Victoria nodded. "My recommendation is that we accept every one of them."

"First, these Spirit tribes haven’t wronged us or shown you the slightest disrespect, their reason for coming may be nothing more than saving their own skins, but they’re a serious addition to our combat strength."

"The moment they step out from under us, they get hunted down, taking them in under conditions like these buys us gratitude and loyalty we couldn’t buy any other way."

"As the saying goes, two tigers don’t share a mountain."

"I have a very strong feeling about this, even if we turned every one of them away, a clash between us and that Upper-Tier Spirit Ancestor is arithmetic, not chance."

"And I know you. You’ll never bow your head to an Upper-Tier Spirit Ancestor, and you’ll certainly never hand over Black Dragon Mountain and Exalted Continent, if the fight is coming anyway, we may as well meet her head on."

Soren nodded. "I have a fairly accurate guess about who she is."

Victoria looked at him. "You’ve crossed paths with her?"

"Not yet." He waved it off, then added, half joking, half not.

"Upper-Tier Spirit Ancestor or not, it doesn’t matter, once I’ve beaten her and taken her, I’ll make her a bed-warming maid."

Victoria’s lips twitched.

"Here, take this."

A pulse of aura opened his spatial storage, and he drew out a glowing rhomboid crystal, the fifty percent of cosmic destiny he’d pulled from the Nine-Headed Serpent skeleton.

The complete hoard could have carried an Upper-Tier Emperor into the Upper-Tier Ancestor Realm and possibly further, half was more than enough to put Victoria into the Lower-Tier Demon Ancestor realm without difficulty.

With luck, she might go straight to the Middle Tier.

Soren had the Kun-Heaven Nether Sea, the Kunpeng’s primal Sea of Origin held more Destiny Nether Pearls than he was ever going to need.

His first woman could have the hoard.

Looking at the crystal, Victoria’s eyes opened wide, she couldn’t identify the substance, but she could feel the destiny humming inside it.

Soren gave her a short account of the Falling Cherry Spirit Domain, when she understood the crystal was half of what had been siphoned out of Exalted Continent across a million years, she had no words for a while.

"You’re giving all of it to me?" She looked at him, disbelieving.

"Do I look like I’m joking?" Soren said.

"You once lent me a hundred million spirit stones without blinking, and produced several hundred million more to get me past my bottlenecks, as your man, am I not allowed to give you something back?"

Victoria smiled and turned the crystal over in her palm. "Handing me a hoard that size, aren’t you afraid Celeste will drown in vinegar when she hears?"

Soren shrugged. "Celeste’s realm isn’t suited to absorbing destiny at this level yet."

Victoria had the tact to leave it there.

"Then I really am going to use it."

"Use it." Nothing negotiable in his tone.

"You’re so good to me," she murmured, kissing his cheek.

"I’ll work harder and carry more for you, in this life, the next, the one after that, and for ten thousand lives after, I want to be your woman."

Then she corrected herself, quietly. "No, your beast of burden."

"Ahem, the sentiment is more than enough, there’s no need for that particular image."

Meanwhile, in the Grand Imperial Palace of the Endless Demonic Domain.

Cecilia stepped through the doors of the reception hall.

The room was packed with Spirit Emperors who had come to swear fealty, Celeste sat at the head, working through terms, outside the entrance, an equally long queue waited its turn.

Given what was happening on the continent, not one of them dared complain about the wait.

"Miss Celeste," Cecilia called.

"Soren sent me to fetch you."

Celeste nodded and turned to the room. "I’ll have to trouble everyone to wait a moment, I’ll be back shortly."

The Spirit Emperors nodded with enormous enthusiasm. "At your leisure, Miss Celeste! Please don’t concern yourself with us!"

Celeste stepped down and followed Cecilia out, a pace behind her.

"What’s so urgent?" she muttered.

"If he needed something, a voice transmission would have done, why make me walk over?"

Then she gasped, theatrically. "Wow~! Don’t tell me Husband has those urges again?"

Cecilia twitched her lip, what kind of filth is running through this woman’s brain, and does it ever stop?

Whatever, not her business.

At a quiet stretch of corridor, Cecilia swept a hand and tore open a rift into her pocket dimension. Her palm pulled, and Celeste went through it.

The rift snapped shut.

Celeste’s voice came through the closing gap, alarmed. "Cecilia! What are you doing?"

"My apologies if this offends," Cecilia said to the empty air.

"You’re not my target, I’ve simply run out of better options, you’ll have to come along quietly."

Figures erupted into the sky from the reception hall next door.

Well over a hundred, every one a Spirit Emperor who had come to swear fealty.

"What happened?"

"No idea!"

"Isn’t she one of Black Dragon Mountain’s own? Why would she snatch Miss Celeste?"

"Are the Grand Mistress and Demon Ancestor Soren not here?"

"Do we move?"

They looked at each other, and the situation assembled itself in a hundred heads at once.

Their eyes turned red with ambition, shoving past one another, over a hundred Spirit Emperors threw themselves at Cecilia.

"She’s a traitor!"

"Whoever takes her..."

"...earns merit and a place in Demon Ancestor Soren’s regard!"

An endless tide of Spirit Emperors.

Fangs bared, claws out, behind them the residual Spirit energy piled into waves the size of mountains.

None were fools.

There was no chance of misreading what had just been done in front of their faces.

Too many coincidences had landed in the same breath, and once they stack up like that they stop being coincidences.

What Second Mistress Celeste meant to Black Dragon Mountain needed no explaining.

And someone had the nerve to snatch her in broad daylight.

Wasn’t that just begging to die?

Cutting the thief down was the correct call.

It was also the one that came with a reward attached.

Cecilia stayed perfectly calm, she snapped her slim fingers, and her figure melted into the spatial void, every trace of demonic fluctuation going with it.
