Godslayer's Legend

Chapter 1033: Interlude 11: A Certain Dragon’s Closest Enemy

Altrishia Weiss blinked in surprise at the words that had just been spoken to her, her eyes widening faintly for a moment before she controlled her expression and returned it to its usual neutrality.

"I see. So Arthur went back home, huh?"

Berlal had just revealed this news to her several weeks after the fact, just as she’d come back from the task that she’d been assigned by Aleksas a month prior.

She had finally broken through to the High-Tier Deity Realm and wanted to spar with Arthur to get used to her new power, as well as to see how she compared to him after having been informed that he’d also reached the High-Tier Deity Realm.

The circumstances surrounding his attaining this realm weren’t revealed to her, but she didn’t really care about that.

She simply assumed he’d broken through during some battle like she had, or had found a well of cosmic energy to absorb to boost his power further.

Never could she have imagined that he’d died and returned to life before he’d achieved that breakthrough.

That aside, her desire for a spar faded like a flame soaked in water the moment she asked Berlal about Arthur’s whereabouts and was told that he’d returned to the Hell Universe.

For a moment, she considered going to Hell, but something about Berlal’s gaze made her hold the question back and change that decision.

The mention of Arthur having gone home reminded Altrishia about her own home, but she immediately shook her head and muttered, "There’s no point."

"No point to what?" Berlal asked.

Rishia looked up from the ground and pursed her lips in silence before finally deciding to answer.

"I considered returning to the place that could be categorised as my ’home’, but there’s absolutely no need for me to do so."

There was a cold detachment in her tone that shouldn’t have been present when speaking about something called ’home’, but considering her circumstances, it was almost a miracle she could even speak about it.

Memories of her time in the Tower of Trials with Arthur surfaced in her mind, especially their encounter with Harlamagne at the tower’s peak and how they’d been trapped in his ’Pure Fiction’.

While Arthur had endured a false recreation of his memories where all the battles he’d won were rewritten into losses and deaths at the hands of creation, Rishia... had been returned home.

Her ’doomed creation’ had been a recreation of her early years, before Aleksas discovered her existence and took her away from that planet.

Altrishia was the result of over a billion years of accumulated talent that should have been distributed through the bloodline of one of Aleksas’ children, a literal one in a billion years genius.

It went without saying that once that talent had been discovered, she gained a fair share of admirers, as well as haters.

The problem was that one of those haters... No, the greatest of those haters was the one person who should have been closest to her than anyone else in the Cosmos.

And that person, consumed by immense hatred, had tried to rid this Cosmos of the object of their hatred... repeatedly.

Rishia hadn’t initially known that they were the one behind the string of misfortunes she’d suffered, but she eventually discovered it through a slip of the tongue from another dragon who had attacked her out of spite, leaving her devastated.

The one person she’d never suspected, the one person she’d confided everything in... had been secretly plotting behind her back.

It was a story as common as the stars in the sky, but it didn’t lessen the impact that incident had on Rishia physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Arthur hadn’t noticed at the time, but Rishia had been on the verge of a panic attack after they were returned to Floor 1 of the Tower of Trials.

That was even worse because of the liquefied cosmic energy pool they had awakened in.

Rishia, who should have been able to breathe in that pool like a fish in water, had nearly drowned for a moment due to the trauma.

’Tsk... damn it.’

She immediately shook her head to clear those thoughts, exhaling softly before rising from where she was seated.

"Is Lord Aleksas available now?" she asked.

Berlal turned her gaze toward the distance in silence for a moment before nodding and responding, "Yes. Let’s go."

Her shadow expanded as she spoke, engulfing both her and Rishia and teleporting them across the universe to Aleksas’ location so Rishia could deliver her report.

But before Rishia could even offer her greetings, Aleksas raised a hand to stop her, his eyebrows narrowing faintly as he stared at an empty corner of the room they were in.

Rishia also turned her gaze in the direction Aleksas was looking, and the moment she did, a man with pitch-black hair and purple eyes swirling with spatial power was suddenly standing there.

She blinked in faint shock at his appearance, and the man, facing Aleksas, bowed lightly before speaking.

"Greetings to the Progenitor Dragon."

He then looked at Berlal and continued.

"Hello once again, Berlal."

Berlal nodded silently, while Aleksas simply asked,

"What are you here for?"

At the question, the man, Larry, tilted his head slightly before replying.

"I was told that you should be expecting my presence here."

"By whom?" Aleksas asked.

"By Arthur, the Progenitor of godslayers. I was under the assumption that you were familiar with one another, and that he’d informed you of something beforehand and told you to expect my presence," Larry responded.

Hearing Larry’s answer, Aleksas narrowed his eyes before asking, "And exactly what did he tell you to come and tell me?"

Larry replied with a light shrug.

"Well, I don’t really know the full specifics," Larry said. "All he said was that I should come over and meet you and Lady Quinn as well, and inform both of you that it’s time and that he hopes you fulfil the request he made of you earlier."

The moment Larry finished speaking, the fabric of space rippled lightly, and Quinn appeared in the room.

"Sup, Larry. Hi Berlal."

Immediately after greeting them, she didn’t even give them a chance to respond and looked straight at Aleksas.

"Yo. Let’s head over to the First Multiverse."

"Why?"

"Because of the reason Arthur sent the drifter over here," Quinn replied, pointing at Larry. "I was talking with Belphegor some time earlier, and there was a sudden commotion on his end. He rushed over without ending the call, and I was able to pick up certain bits of information that left me faintly surprised."

She paused for a moment before continuing.

"For some reason, Arthur’s grandfather has just declared war on the universe the Eternals used as their little experimental grounds in the First Multiverse. I think it was called Olympus or something."

Hearing Quinn’s words, Aleksas narrowed his eyes in silence, the question of why Arthur’s grandfather had declared war written clearly on his face.

He then glanced at Berlal, who looked as calm as ever, and instantly concluded that she likely knew something about what was happening.

Quinn noticed the silent exchange of glances but didn’t comment on it.

"Think about Arthur’s request to us earlier, about what he said we should tell his mother, and then this. Aren’t you a little curious about exactly what Arthur is plotting?"

Silence followed Quinn’s words, and Aleksas took a moment to consider them before finally rising to his feet.

"Fine."

He looked towards Rishia.

"You’re coming along with us. You’ll give me your report on the way."

He then turned to Berlal, who immediately said, "I’m coming along. Arthur told me to take care of that Ancient-Breed of his."

Hearing that, Aleksas fell silent for a moment, now even more convinced that Arthur was plotting something crazy.

During that short silence, Larry condensed cosmic energy in his palm and tore open space, creating a cosmic gate leading to the First Multiverse.

He then gestured toward the gate and said, "After you."

Aleksas glanced at the cosmic gate, his eyes analysing it and scanning its destination before walking towards it.

As he did, Rishia lightly raised a hand and asked, "May I ask exactly where it is we’re going in the First Multiverse?"

To that question, Quinn looked at her and replied,

"A little universe called Hell."
