Godslayer's Legend

Chapter 1036: Interlude 13-2: The Final Theory

"I suppose this one actually makes sense," the First Progenitor said, voicing their agreement. "The Cosmos runs on Cosmic Energy, and that Cosmic Energy is only infinite relative to the existences within the Cosmos.

If one were to quantify the amount of Cosmic Energy within the Cosmos, then it would be a number that continued until the end of space, and as such, one would describe it as being ’infinite’.

But claiming energy is ’infinite’ implies it’s being created endlessly, which defies the basic laws of energy conservation."

Flipping another page, they continued ranting to no one.

"Energy can’t truly be created or destroyed, only converted from one form into another. Think about that, and one would realise the Cosmos’ Cosmic Energy is simply being recycled over and over again.

It’s just that the base amount of energy within this Cosmos is so absurd that you might as well call it infinite, since it can create millions upon billions upon trillions of Iterations of the Cosmos and still have more left over..."

The First Progenitor shrugged, then shook their head as they muttered, "But it’s not like the average person would ever understand what I’m talking about."

They continued turning the pages in silence, reading through the many theories proposed by many beings from many races across the Cosmos until they reached the end of the list.

The lights beneath their hood widened slightly in faint surprise at the words written on the page before they appeared to smile.

"Now this is one that interests me. The Final Theory: The Eternal-Aggressor War.

This one claims that the war between the Eternals and Aggressors is what’ll define the fate of the Cosmos."

They shook their head once again before looking toward the Dark Multiverse in the distance and asking, "Is this another one of your attempts to see how far you can spread this reality, Hyperion?"

With a sigh, they turned their head toward the Planet at the End of Existence and asked, "Or is this you, Gaia, trying to recover memories from when you were nought but a shell of Cosmic Creation?"

Shrugging, they turned the page and continued, "Regardless of which it is, it’s all futile.

Stalling the continuation of the Eternal-Aggressor War by sabotaging the Candidate Selections is really the most you can do at this stage, and even that, unfortunately, has its limits."

They silently read through the rest of the contents before closing the book and nodding to themselves.

"It was a good book, especially that last theory. Considering there are only Twelve on each side, many wouldn’t figure it out, but anyone who looked closely would realise there are more Major Concepts of the Cosmos than there are Eternals and Aggressors.

About enough to have Sixteen on each side. This person really did their research before writing this."

They seemed impressed by the author of the book, but as they continued speaking, the tone of their voice became sorrowful.

"Unfortunately, that was the worst possible decision they could’ve made."

The First Progenitor raised the book and pressed it against their forehead, Cosmic Authorities activating as they traced the existence of its author, and what they found came as no surprise to them.

"Ah, just as I thought. They’re dead. Devoured by a Chaotic Cosmic Horror. What a coincidence," they said sarcastically.

Releasing the book, it floated beside them in the vacuum as they said,

"A Chessboard, huh?"

Their eyes turned toward the First Multiverse, and they directed their thoughts inward, as though wary of being overheard.

’I was really worried when Luka encountered ’Last’. Silly child went ahead and called the Cosmos a Chessboard right in front of him!’

Throughout all of this, their body had continued drifting through the vacuum without any apparent destination, but as soon as that thought crossed their mind, they blinked before saying aloud,

"It seems this is the entry point this time."

The First Progenitor rotated their body, looking toward that which was ’below’ them, before saying, "The Eternals and Aggressors should be the ones handling this category of creatures... but I suppose this is above their paygrade."

Lowering their body’s coordinates, the First Progenitor looked up slightly to behold the giant tear in the fabric of existence before them, stretching diagonally across trillions of parsecs.

At one end of this gigantic rift, ’something’ black reached in from the void and grabbed the edges of the rift, pulling it wider.

This created enough space for a deep, dark ’something’ to extend its tendrils into reality, twitching irregularly as it attempted to ’exist’.

It was a stark contrast to the other end of the rift, where ’something’ shone with a brilliant white light, radiating a sacred brilliance that made anyone who looked upon it feel a sense of holiness.

It wasn’t misshapen like the darkness. It was perfect. Overwhelmingly, Absolutely, Perfect.

Staring at those two ’things’ reaching into the Cosmos, the First Progenitor took a deep breath before speaking.

"Void god. Immutable One. Return to the nothingness you belong. It is not yet your time to make an advent into this Cosmos."

Their warning went unheard, but they didn’t appear surprised or particularly bothered, almost as though they’d expected to be ignored.

"Of course, it wouldn’t be that simple," they muttered.

Raising their hands to pull back their hood, Cosmic Energy began to leak from their body as they declared,

|Then I suppose I should remind your spawns of Chaos and Order exactly why I am your Balanced equivalent.|

The moment their True Voice echoed out, an immense black light erupted from one end of the rift, while from the other, bright perfection given form radiated outward, the two waves crashing into one another as they spread across space toward the First Progenitor.

But the First Progenitor didn’t move an inch, instantly engulfing the entire surrounding space, along with the enormous rift itself, within a giant opaque sphere of Cosmic Energy.

Ten seconds passed before the sphere rapidly began to shrink, its diameter reducing from trillions of parsecs until it reached zero, and as the sphere vanished, so too did the rift in reality, along with the three entities that had occupied that region of space.

Barely a few seconds later, several powerful auras swept across that region of space, the Cosmic Perceptions of several Ultimate Realm existences, Eternals and Aggressors included, colliding with one another as they searched for the source of the enormous Cosmic Energy wave they’d just sensed.

However, they found absolutely nothing, regardless of which Cosmic Authority they used.

They didn’t abandon the search immediately, but after several days of finding nothing, they gradually began retracting their perceptions.

Eventually, the last Eternal withdrew their gaze, and just as they did, a tiny rip appeared in the fabric of existence.

Pulling the tear wider like a pair of curtains, the First Progenitor peeked into the Cosmos, looking around as they muttered, "How persistent."

They pulled their body back into the Cosmos, brushing the ashen grey blood-like liquid from their cloak as the tear in the fabric of existence sealed behind them.

"Now then, I suppose I should find another book to keep myself entertained for the next few thousand years."

After speaking those words, they closed their eyes, raised a hand, and pointed in a random direction before opening their eyes to find themselves pointing toward the Seventh Multiverse.

"Seventh it is," they said, flying off in that direction at light speed.
