Seeing that both of his attacks had been blocked so easily, Garand’s expression became terribly grim. For a perfect surprise attack to end so disgracefully... that was an unforgivable humiliation.
"Die!"
Garand roared and threw an explosive punch toward Dandara. He had to kill her now, or his reputation would never recover.
A dense wave of Corrupted aura erupted, rising into the sky and staining the air with overwhelming killing intent.
However, Dandara’s reaction was nothing but mockery.
"You should know your place," she sneered.
At that exact moment, a figure wrapped in Yin flames burst forward with a brutal roar.
It was Flaris. Her blade cut through the air in a flawless trajectory. In a fraction of a second, the Demoness’s sword appeared directly in front of Garand’s fist.
Garand’s scalp went numb. An overwhelming sense of imminent danger seized his heart.
Flaris’s sword pulsed with a blood-red glow, tearing through the very fabric of space.
No one expected that Demoness to attack now—much less with such an overwhelming strike.
To Garand’s horror, when he tried to retreat, he realized that his body simply wouldn’t respond. He was completely immobilized by an invisible, suffocating force. His eyes nearly popped out of their sockets in terror.
*BOOOM!*
The blade’s slash was devastating. Blood sprayed in a cascade—but not Garand’s.
His mount, the giant three-horned tiger, was ordered to charge forward at the last second and threw itself in front of the attack. The beast was split in half without any resistance, its blood staining the reddish earth.
That was an incredibly powerful Heavenly Beast. And yet, it didn’t stand the slightest chance.
As the corpse split into two, a miasma of Corrupted aura erupted from its entrails.
Only then did the surrounding Mages understand Garand’s despicable methods: he had engraved a slavery seal onto the Beast’s soul without wanting to turn it into a Corrupted Beast.
Forced corruption burned through all of its vitality to extract immediate raw power, causing it to die within a short period.
Simply keeping it as a slave had its long-term advantages. One of them was preserving its basic intelligence, making it easier to control and discard in a moment like this.
Flaris’s attack left everyone stunned. Garand’s pupils contracted to pinpricks. If he had taken that attack head-on, he would have been seriously injured—or killed.
He desperately retreated, overwhelmed by genuine fear.
Those three generals were absolute anomalies. If they were Faction Leaders from the sect’s most dominant branches, such power would be acceptable. But they were merely Generals of a faction from one of the weakest branches!
Flaris, Shione, and Lumiere let out cold sighs and calmly returned to stand behind Priam.
Inside, an indescribable pride burned in their chests.
Originally, they had been nothing more than ordinary disciples—mere ants before the so-called Super Geniuses. Now, they could trade blows with and overpower the greatest monsters of their generation.
The gratitude they felt toward Priam was endless. He was the one who had brought them out of the mortal plane and dragged them, step by step, beyond their limits, in addition to granting them the lost Ancestral Art of their race. Otherwise, they would never have been able to glimpse the scenery from the summit.
What that Sorcerer hadn’t realized was that, even before Flaris’s attack, the spiritual power of her elemental partner had already silently contaminated him, paralyzing any chance he had of escaping.
The power of the soul combined with the Ancestral Art of their race was truly terrifying and full of possibilities.
Each of the three generals had specialized in drawing out the power of their partners in their own unique way, and with every advancement, that synergy became more terrifying. And they each had only one Elemental Spirit so far.
What would happen when they bonded with multiple ones?
Unfortunately, that realm had no spiritual races, despite the trio’s exhaustive searches. But once they returned to the sect, they would focus on that, and their strength would reach unimaginable levels.
"Is the show already over?"
Dandara’s mocking voice echoed across the battlefield, reaching Garand, who was already nearly a kilometer away.
Priam didn’t order them to pursue him. For his plans, Garand was still much more useful alive—for the time being.
The crowd watched in absolute silence as the greatest genius of the Sorcerers retreated in panic toward his army.
As he reached the safe perimeter of his forces, Garand’s look of terror gave way to a moment of relief... which soon twisted into insane delirium.
"THE TIME HAS COME! KILL THEM ALL!"
He roared in an uncontrolled frenzy, his mind completely consumed by bloodlust and vengeance.
A cold, deathly shiver ran down the spine of every Mage on the battlefield.
At the same time, the Impure Beasts and Calamity Beasts raised their claws, activating their battle auras in a purely instinctive reaction. Their wild senses screamed that something terrible was approaching.
In perfect synchronization, thousands of Sorcerers stepped forward and extended both hands.
Their irises were instantly swallowed by a bottomless abyssal darkness.
Then, ominous and rotten auras erupted from their bodies, twisting through the air like dozens of grotesque tentacles.
The next millisecond, all their voices merged into a deafening growl that echoed across the heavens:
"UNDERWORLD PORTAL!"
The fabric of space above the Sorcerers’ army rippled violently before tearing open with a sharp crack, opening like a monstrous, bloody throat in the sky.
Within seconds, the dimensional rift expanded to more than a hundred meters across the sky, revealing an absolute abyss.
**ROOOOOAAAR!!**
A colossal, bestial, unrecognizable roar echoed from within.
The sound shook the earth, widened the mountain’s cracks, and made the air itself crack under the pressure.
"DEVOUR THEM ALL! HAHAHAHAHA!!"
Garand laughed in pure euphoric delirium, his reason completely destroyed by rage.
At his signal, an avalanche of black, viscous matter poured out of the portal. A living tide surged from the heavens toward the reddish ground.
They were creatures of every imaginable shape, size, and deformity. Impure Beasts, Heavenly Beasts, and Calamity Beasts—all systematically captured over the past few months and subjected to vile corruption rituals.
A grotesque horde of more than a hundred thousand Corrupted Beasts burst out all at once, flooding the base of the mountain and covering the sun with suffocating corruption.
Horror seized the Mages’ ranks. The color instantly drained from thousands of faces, leaving them deathly pale. Despair covered the valley like a shroud of death.
It was impossible for anyone to have predicted a catastrophe of this magnitude. Throughout the entire expedition, the Sorcerers had operated with surgical precision: they hunted from the shadows, slaughtering without leaving any trace of any Mage who crossed their path, preventing any information from leaking. On top of that, they had stockpiled their army inside a shared parallel dimension.
Now, released all at once, that black tide of disfigured monsters rose like an unstoppable force, ready to feast on the flesh and souls of every living being in that realm.
At that moment, Priam opened his eyes and smiled.
The battle had finally begun.
