--Chapter 24--

Title: Herogasm Upgrade

Takeshi read the status for a second longer and swallowed as his eyes moved downwards to something else.

A surprising upgrade waited. His eyes narrowed.

The numbers hadn’t changed. Not yet, anyway.

What had changed was the information beneath those numbers.

The Herogasm System had never been particularly generous with explanations. It had given him the route to abilities, shown him vague descriptions, and then expected him to figure out the rest himself.

Now, however, there was something new.

[Herogasm System -- Level 2]

[Growth Mechanism Updated]

[Temporary Enhancement: Intimacy-based stat enhancement remains active.]

[Permanent Enhancement: Full Bonding Sessions may now convert excess absorbed essence into permanent growth.]

[Current Conversion Efficiency: 12%]

[Safety Limitation: Permanent enhancement will be restricted according to the host’s current physical capacity.]

Takeshi stared at the words. It was clear and yet unbelievable.

Solaria paused with the fork halfway toward his mouth.

"Master?"

Takeshi didn’t answer immediately. His eyes remained fixed on the translucent window.

He had already known that his Infinite Mana Core could absorb ridiculous amounts of mana. The problem had always been what happened after the absorption.

His body still had limits.

His pathways had only partially opened, and trying to force too much power through them would be no different from pouring an ocean through a drinking straw.

The Tower had apparently changed something.

Or perhaps it had simply pushed the System far enough that it had finally unlocked something that had been sitting there all along.

Takeshi’s lips slowly curled upward.

"So the System finally decided to stop being a bitch."

Nyxara looked over from her food. "Are you talking to yourself again?"

"When have I ever talked to myself?

Nyxara didn’t answer, instead she glared at him.

Takeshi ignored her and continued reading.

The twelve percent conversion rate wasn’t impressive by itself. In fact, it looked downright mediocre.

But Takeshi understood what it meant.

Twelve percent of something infinite was still...

His smile widened. " A fucking lot."

Lana’s eyes immediately shifted toward him, noticing his brightened expression.

"What did you discover?"

Takeshi looked at her. And considered keeping it to himself. But then again, there wasn’t much point hiding something that directly involved all three of them.

"The System changed after I cleared the Tower."

Lana’s attention sharpened even as Nyxara momentarily stopped chewing.

Even Solaria lowered the fork.

Takeshi noticed the three reactions and couldn’t help feeling a little amused.

He had their attention now.

"The Herogasm System can apparently convert part of the essence it absorbs into permanent growth."

Nyxara’s eyebrows lifted.

"Permanent?"

"That’s what it says."

She swallowed the food in her mouth. "So you mean...?"

"Exactly what you’re thinking," Takeshi completed.

Nyxara’s grin immediately became much wider. Her nipples were slowly hardening.

Solaria’s face turned pink and flustered.

Lana, meanwhile, remained completely composed or at least she did her best to.

Takeshi noticed the slight narrowing of her crimson eyes before she spoke.

"How much?"

"Currently twelve percent."

Nyxara’s expression dropped. "That’s it?"

Takeshi looked at her. "It’s twelve percent more than I had yesterday."

Nyxara rolled her shoulders, "Fair," she immediately went back to eating.

Takeshi nearly laughed at how fast she switched up.

This was simply Nyxara. She avoided pointless argument. And didn’t pretend she was disappointed for dramatic effect.

If there was food in front of her, she was eating it. C’est Fini

Lana’s lips curved faintly in realization. "The efficiency will likely increase."

Takeshi looked at her. "You think so?"

"You have only recently begun accessing the power within your core. The System is adapting alongside you. It would be strange if its current limits were permanent."

That made sense. Way too much sense actually.

Takeshi leaned back slightly.

Lana had been trapped inside that sanctum for centuries, yet she spoke about his System like she had already spent days studying it.

He still had no idea exactly how much she knew. And that was another reason he needed to keep her close.

She wasn’t just a vampire with an absurd amount of power. She was intelligent, stupidly intelligent.

"There’s another restriction," Takeshi said.

Solaria’s attention returned to him.

"My body has to be able to handle the growth. The System won’t let me absorb more permanent enhancement than my current physical condition can withstand."

Solaria’s expression immediately became serious. She obviously had something to say in that regard.

"Then that’s a good thing."

Takeshi looked at Solaria which made her lower her eyes slightly.

"If your body is not ready, forcing more power into it would only cause harm."

Nyxara nodded while chewing. "The Angel is right."

Takeshi stared at both of them. That was unexpectedly sensible. Then he looked toward Lana almost for confirmation.

She gave a small nod.

"Agreed."

Takeshi clicked his tongue. "Why do all three of you suddenly sound responsible?"

Nyxara snorted.

"Maybe because you’re an idiot when it comes to this stuff?"

Solaria covered the corner of her mouth with one hand, hiding a tiny smile. Even Lana’s expression softened.

Takeshi looked between them. "So you’re ganging up on me now ?"

Nyxara and Lana stayed silent while Solaria massaged his back with her free hand.

"I’ll never do that to you Master."

Takeshi scoffed and looked back at the status window.

His eyes moved over the three names beneath Bonded Units.

Nyxara.

Solaria.

Lana.

At this point, these women weren’t simply combat tools anymore. They were the source of his growth.

The System had practically made that clear.

And the Tower had just proven something else. His strength wasn’t going to grow in a straight line.

It was going to compound from how he managed this women and his body.

Takeshi’s smile slowly returned.

If that’s how it works...’

His gaze shifted toward the three women.

...then I need to make better use of what I have.’

He dismissed the status window and returned his attention to the meal.

Solaria was still holding the fork. She had been waiting patiently the entire time.

Takeshi looked at the silverware and then into Solaria’s eyes.

"...You’ve been waiting this whole time?"

Solaria blinked.

"I didn’t want the food to waste."

"You could’ve eaten."

Her fingers tightened around the fork.

"I only want to feed you."

There was no embarrassment in her answer this time. Just quiet certainty.

Takeshi stared at her for a moment. Then he opened his mouth.

Solaria’s eyes brightened. She carefully placed the next bite between his lips.

Takeshi chewed.

The taste was still ridiculously good.

But now that he understood the healing effect, he could feel the difference much more clearly.

His body felt lighter than a feather and yet sturdy as a rock.

But somewhere deep inside his chest, the Infinite Mana Core pulsed gently.

Takeshi’s eyes took a deep breath almost to confirm the sensation was real.

It sure was. It was the same strange pressure he’d felt after absorbing the mana inside the sanctum.

Only this time, it was much weaker and within his grasp. Instead of overflowing.

His body was adapting. Albeit slowly but there was progress.

Takeshi swallowed another bite and looked toward Solaria.

"Can you increase the healing effect?"

Solaria hesitated.

"I can."

"Without straining yourself?"

She nodded, "Of course."

"Good."

Her eyes widened slightly. "Yes, Master."

Something about the way she answered made Nyxara glance at her.

Lana noticed too. Neither said anything.

Takeshi didn’t notice the tiny change in Solaria’s expression as she prepared the next bite.

Something else was on his mind. Something that would be a major aspect of his future here in this world.
