Hunt Race

Chapter 102: The First Technique

The axeman came forward again.

Kael watched his stance.

The man's weight shifted onto his front foot.

The axe swung.

Kael stepped outside its range.

The axeman recovered and attacked again.

Kael moved back.

Another swing.

Kael stepped in.

The axe was still moving away from him.

The axeman couldn't bring it back in time.

Kael's sword flashed.

SHING!

The blade cut across the axeman's side.

Blood ran down his clothes.

The axeman staggered.

Kael didn't pursue.

The mark from the wound pulsed faintly.

First Blood.

The effect took hold.

The axeman's grip tightened.

Something felt wrong.

His strength hadn't disappeared.

But the power behind his movements had noticeably diminished.

He looked down at the blood on his side.

Then at Kael.

Kael's expression remained focused.

The axeman's expression hardened.

He raised his axe.

Mana gathered around the weapon.

The air around the blade trembled.

Kael shifted his stance.

The axeman slammed the axe into the ground.

BOOM!

A shockwave ripped outward.

Normally, the impact would have torn through the earth and thrown anyone nearby off balance.

This time, the force died after only a few meters.

The ground cracked beneath the axe, but the tremor barely reached Kael's boots.

Kael didn't move.

The axeman stared at the shallow crack beneath his weapon.

His eyes widened.

"Why is it so weak?"

He pulled the axe free and looked at it.

His technique had failed.

No.

It hadn't failed.

Something had weakened it.

His gaze returned to Kael.

The answer was obvious.

Kael moved.

The axeman's attention was still on his weapon.

His guard dropped.

Kael stepped in, sword already rising.

The axeman looked up.

Too late.

CLANG!

A dagger struck Kael's sword.

The dagger hunter had stepped between them.

Kael immediately turned toward him.

The hunter reached behind his waist.

He pulled out three daggers.

Kael's eyes narrowed.

The hunter held all three between his fingers.

Dagger technique: Piercing rain

Then he threw them.

SHING!

The first dagger came straight for Kael's chest.

Kael moved aside.

The second flew from a different angle, cutting across his escape route.

Kael ducked.

The third came low.

Kael jumped over it.

All three daggers flew past him.

Kael's eyes followed them.

He expected them to hit the ground.

They didn't.

The first dagger curved.

It changed direction and came back toward him.

Kael turned.

CLANG!

His sword knocked it away.

The second dagger came from behind.

Kael twisted.

It passed his side.

Then the third—

Kael stepped forward.

Too late.

The dagger came back along a completely different path.

SHING!

The blade cut across Kael's back.

Blood appeared instantly.

Kael froze for a fraction of a second.

His eyes widened.

The dagger hunter caught the returning blade.
