Hunt Race

Chapter 103: The Turning Point

The three daggers came at Kael from different directions.

He watched them.

The first was heading straight for him.

The second was already cutting across his right.

The third came low.

Kael didn't block.

He stepped forward.

Mirage Step.

His body shifted sharply to the right.

The first dagger passed through empty air.

The second followed the movement he appeared to make—

But Kael was no longer there.

He had already stepped left.

The third dagger flew past his legs.

The three blades continued forward.

Then they turned.

They came back.

The dagger hunter's eyes narrowed.

He expected Kael to turn and defend.

Kael didn't.

He moved again.

Another Mirage Step.

His body seemed to commit to one direction before suddenly cutting toward another.

The returning daggers chased the position Kael had abandoned.

One passed behind him.

Another sliced through empty air beside him.

The third missed completely.

All three daggers continued past.

The dagger hunter caught them one after another.

His expression tightened.

Kael had already understood the technique.

Piercing Rain depended on controlling where the opponent would be when the daggers returned.

But Mirage Step made that prediction useless.

Kael could show him one movement...

Then be somewhere else.

The dagger hunter threw the three daggers again.

Kael didn't even hesitate.

Mirage Step.

The first dagger missed.

Another step.

The second missed.

A third shift.

The returning blades crossed through empty space.

Not one touched him.

Kael was already moving forward.

The dagger hunter realized it too late.

Kael had stopped trying to avoid the technique.

He was using it against him.

Every time the hunter threw the daggers, he had to create space for their return.

And every time he did...

Kael closed the distance.

The hunter caught his daggers.

Kael was already in front of him.

The hunter raised both blades.

Kael's sword came down.

CLANG!

The hunter blocked.

Kael pushed him back.

The dagger hunter slipped to the side.

Kael followed.

A dagger thrust toward his stomach.

Kael turned his body.

The blade missed.

His sword flashed.

The hunter jumped backward.

Kael didn't chase him.

He turned toward the axeman.

The axeman was still standing.

Barely.

His breathing was heavy.

His grip on the axe had weakened.

The weapon dragged slightly against the ground.

The first wound had already taken its toll.

And the failed technique had left him shaken.

Kael moved toward him.

The axeman raised his weapon.

He tried to swing.

It was slower.

Kael stepped inside the attack.

The axeman attempted to recover.

Kael's sword cut across his other side.

SHING!

Blood splashed onto the ground.

The axeman froze.

Kael stepped away.

Second blood.

The effect took hold immediately.

The axeman's knees buckled.

He caught himself with the axe.

His breathing became ragged.

He tried to lift the weapon again.

It barely moved.

The dagger hunter looked at him.

His partner was down.

His axe lay beside him.

The hunter's eyes returned to Kael.

Kael was already turning toward him.

The dagger hunter tightened his grip on both blades.

There was no time to think.

No time to use Piercing Rain.

He needed to stop Kael now.

His body lowered.

Then he launched forward.

A dagger flashed toward Kael's throat.

Kael smiles and uses

Mirage step
