The silence stretched between them.
Kael remained still.
His sword was raised.
Across from him, the boss stood with one hand hanging loosely at his side.
The dagger hunter was behind him, blood running down his chest.
The axeman was still on one knee.
The boss glanced at them.
Neither hunter spoke.
The boss's eyes returned to Kael.
"So..."
His voice was calm.
"You were the one causing all this trouble."
Kael didn't answer.
His eyes stayed on the boss.
The man didn't look particularly imposing.
No massive weapon.
No dramatic stance.
Just a calm expression and a relaxed posture.
But Kael could feel it.
Something was different.
The pressure around him wasn't wild like the axeman's.
It wasn't sharp like the dagger hunter's.
It was controlled.
Too controlled.
The boss took another step.
Kael's fingers tightened around his sword.
The boss stopped.
"You injured my men."
Kael glanced briefly toward the axeman.
Then back at him.
"They attacked me first."
The boss stared at him for a moment.
Then his lips curved slightly.
"Fair enough."
The dagger hunter looked up.
"Boss—"
"Stay back."
The order was quiet.
The dagger hunter immediately stopped.
Kael noticed.
That alone told him enough.
The man had authority over them.
The boss slowly reached for the weapon at his waist.
He drew it.
A short, dark blade.
Nothing about it looked extraordinary.
Kael lowered his stance.
The boss raised his weapon.
For the first time, his relaxed expression disappeared.
His eyes became cold.
"Let's see how long that confidence lasts."
He moved.
Kael barely saw the first step.
CLANG!
Their blades collided.
The force pushed Kael backward.
His boots dragged across the dirt.
Kael's eyes sharpened.
The boss was fast.
Very fast.
The man appeared in front of him again.
Another strike.
CLANG!
Kael blocked.
The boss immediately changed the angle.
Kael twisted his wrist.
CLANG!
Another exchange.
The boss didn't waste movement.
Every attack was short.
Precise.
Controlled.
Kael stepped back.
The boss followed.
A slash came toward his neck.
Kael ducked.
The blade passed above him.
Kael swung upward.
The boss blocked.
Their weapons locked.
For a moment, neither moved.
The boss looked directly into Kael's eyes.
Then—
He smiled.
Not because he was amused.
Because he had finally found something worth fighting.
Kael pushed away.
Both fighters separated.
The boss lowered his weapon slightly.
"Interesting."
Kael wiped a thin line of blood from his cheek.
He hadn't even realized the last slash had reached him.
His eyes narrowed.
This man was different.
The boss raised his blade again.
"Now..."
He stepped forward.
"...let's stop holding back."
