Hunt Race

Chapter 107: The Next Step

Their blades collided again.

CLANG!

Kael pushed forward.

The boss gave ground.

Kael followed with another slash.

The boss blocked.

CLANG!

Kael changed his angle.

Mirage Step.

His body shifted right.

The boss adjusted.

Kael suddenly appeared on the opposite side.

His sword flashed.

CLANG!

The boss blocked again.

Kael pulled back.

The boss's eyes narrowed.

He lowered his stance.

His grip tightened around his sword.

"Blade Break."

His blade struck Kael's sword at the exact point where the force of the attack could be disrupted.

CLANG!

Kael's sword was violently knocked aside.

His chest opened.

The boss stepped forward.

Kael's eyes sharpened.

The boss raised his sword.

Kael expected the attack.

But it never came.

The boss suddenly swung toward him—

Then stopped the blade just short of completing the strike.

A feint.

Kael reacted immediately.

Mirage Step.

His body shifted away from the apparent attack.

The boss's eyes followed him.

But instead of continuing forward, the boss suddenly turned in the opposite direction.

His entire body rotated with the movement.

"Reaping Turn."

The blade swept around in a wide arc.

Kael's eyes widened.

He didn't retreat.

His sword came up.

Ripple Slash!

The first strike met the incoming blade.

CLANG!

The impact shook both weapons.

The boss's Reaping Turn continued.

Kael's wrists turned.

The second strike followed immediately.

CLANG!

The second blow caught the boss's blade and knocked it away from Kael's body.

The force of the clash pushed both fighters apart.

Kael slid backward.

The boss planted his foot and stopped.

For a moment, neither moved.

Kael breathed heavily.

His sword remained raised.

He had escaped Blade Break.

He had been caught by the feint.

But this time, he hadn't been caught completely off guard.

The boss looked at his blade.

Then back at Kael.

A faint smile appeared.

"You're adapting."

Kael wiped the sweat from his brow.

"So are you."

The boss's smile disappeared.

He raised his sword again.

Kael lowered his stance.

Neither had gained the advantage.

But something had changed.

They were no longer simply reacting to each other's techniques.

They were beginning to read them.

And Kael was already thinking about his next move.
