Hunt Race

Chapter 113: The Spoils

Kael slowly opened his eyes.

For a moment, he didn't move.

The sunlight filtered through the branches above him.

The forest was quiet.

Kael blinked.

Then he remembered where he was.

He slowly sat up.

His hand moved to his side.

Nothing.

Kael looked down at his body.

The cuts were gone.

Every single one.

He touched his shoulder.

Nothing.

His gaze fell on his palm.

The black crescent-shaped Mark was quiet.

"So it really healed me."

Kael stood.

His body felt completely different from before.

The exhaustion was gone.

His muscles felt loose.

His movements were lighter.

Kael picked up his sword.

Then his eyes moved toward the boss's corpse.

He walked over.

The boss's belongings were scattered around him.

Kael crouched and began searching.

He found a pouch filled with coins.

A few healing potions.

Some supplies.

He put the useful items away.

Then he found a collection of beast cores.

Most were Bronze.

One caught his attention immediately.

A faint silver glow came from it.

"A Silver core..."

Kael placed it carefully inside his pouch.

His eyes then fell on the boss's sword.

He picked it up.

The weapon was heavy.

Well-made.

He remembered the bloody aura that had once covered it.

Blade Lust.

Kael stared at the blade for a moment before taking it.

He discarded his old one

He stood quietly.

His gaze drifted toward the clearing.

He had gone into the fight confident in what he could do.

That confidence had been tested.

There had been moments where he couldn't force his way forward.

Moments where he had to think instead of simply attacking.

Kael lowered his eyes.

He had grown stronger.

But strength alone wasn't enough.

Every opponent would have something different.

Every battle would demand something different from him.

And if he wanted to keep moving forward...

He would have to keep changing with them.

Kael looked at his palm.

The Mark had changed too.

He still didn't understand it.

But he had stopped expecting it to remain the same.

His eyes returned to the items he had taken.

The loot wasn't bad.

A Silver core.

A powerful sword.

Useful supplies.

And something far more valuable.

Experience.

Kael secured everything.

He picked up his sword.

Then looked at the dead boss one last time.

"Good fight."

Kael turned away.

He started walking.
