Kael walked through the forest.

His hand rested on the hilt of his new sword.

His mind was elsewhere.

Kael's eyes moved through the trees.

A beast stood ahead.

A faint silver aura surrounded its body.

Kael stopped.

His eyes narrowed.

The beast noticed him.

It looked at Kael for a moment.

Then turned away.

It completely ignored him.

Kael's eyebrows lifted.

"...Seriously?"

The beast started walking.

Kael's hand tightened around his sword.

He had just found exactly what he was looking for.

And it was ignoring him.

A faint smile appeared on Kael's face.

"Fine."

SHING!

His sword left its sheath.

Kael disappeared forward.

Mirage Step.

His body shifted.

The deception formed.

His hand moved.

Phantom Edge.

The beast suddenly moved.

Its body twisted away.

Kael's blade cut through empty air.

His eyes widened slightly.

The beast had dodged.

Before Kael could recover—

Its tail swept around.

BOOM!

The attack slammed into Kael's side.

His body was launched through the air.

He crashed back-first into a tree.

CRACK!

The trunk shook violently.

Kael's body remained against it for a moment before sliding downward.

Blood ran from the corner of his mouth.

He tried to move.

Then stopped.

The pain was already disappearing.

The wounds across his body began closing.

The Mark on his palm pulsed faintly beneath his skin.

The bruising faded.

The pain vanished.

Kael looked at his hand.

Then at the beast.

A smile slowly appeared on his face.

"Not bad."

He pushed himself away from the tree.

By the time his feet touched the ground, every injury had already disappeared.

Kael rolled his shoulder.

Perfectly fine.

He raised his sword.

His eyes sharpened.

The beast finally turned toward him.

This time, it wasn't ignoring him.

Kael's smile widened.

"A worthy opponent."
