The beast lowered its body, its bronze aura flickering around its battered frame as it stared at Kael. For several seconds, neither moved. Then the creature slammed both claws into the ground.
BOOM!
A violent burst of bronze mana spread through the clearing, forcing Kael to slide a step backward as cracks raced beneath his feet. The beast's breathing grew deeper, its muscles tightening as the aura began gathering around its body instead of leaking away.
Then its eyes changed.
The restraint disappeared.
The beast had gone berserk.
It roared and launched itself forward, its speed suddenly surging beyond what it had shown throughout the fight. Kael raised his sword just in time.
CLANG!
The impact pushed him several steps backward, but the beast didn't give him a chance to recover. Another claw came immediately, forcing Kael to shift aside before the creature followed with a second strike from the opposite direction.
Kael ducked beneath it.
"Crescent Claw!"
Bronze mana coated both claws as they tore across the clearing, forcing Kael to leap backward while the attacks ripped through the ground where he had been standing. The beast charged through the dust without slowing, its movements becoming more violent with every step.
Kael met it head-on.
Their weapons collided repeatedly, the beast throwing its entire body into every strike. Kael blocked one attack, redirected another, then used Mirage Step to slip past the third, but the beast turned with him and caught the edge of his sword with its claw.
Kael's eyes sharpened.
The beast drove its other fist toward him.
He twisted away.
The fist missed his chest by inches.
"Double Impact!"
BOOM!
The first burst struck the ground.
Kael immediately pulled away, but the second explosion chased him through the clearing and forced him to roll across the dirt before rising again.
The beast was already coming.
Kael raised his sword.
CLANG!
The impact stopped the beast's claw, but the creature roared and pushed forward with everything it had.
Kael's boots dragged backward.
For the first time since the beast had dropped to Bronze, it was forcing him to give ground.
Its bronze aura flared violently.
The beast didn't care about the damage being done to its own body. Muscles strained, veins bulged beneath its fur, and its movements became increasingly reckless as it continued throwing attack after attack.
Kael broke the contact and used Mirage Step.
He vanished.
The beast spun.
Kael appeared at its side, but the creature unleashed Crescent Claw without even fully turning toward him.
Kael jumped over the first strike.
The second followed.
He twisted in the air and barely avoided it before landing several meters away.
The beast roared again.
Its aura expanded.
The ground beneath its feet cracked.
Kael stared at it.
This wasn't the beast he had been dominating moments ago.
It had abandoned control completely.
The berserk state was consuming whatever remained of its strength, turning every movement into a desperate attempt to crush him before its body gave out.
The beast suddenly crouched.
Kael tightened his grip.
Then it disappeared.
BOOM!
The ground exploded where it had stood.
Kael barely raised his sword in time.
CLANG!
The beast's claw crashed against the blade and drove him backward.
Another strike followed.
Then another.
Kael blocked, shifted, and redirected, but the beast refused to give him an opening. Its attacks were becoming wilder, stronger, faster.
It wasn't fighting to win anymore.
It was fighting because it refused to die.
Kael finally broke away from the exchange with Mirage Step, appearing several meters behind the beast. Before it could turn, he moved again, putting even more distance between them until the two stood at opposite ends of the clearing.
The beast turned slowly.
Kael stood completely still, sword lowered at his side.
He wasn't retreating.
He was creating space.
The berserk beast stared at him, its bronze aura raging around its body as it prepared to charge again.
