Chapter 130: Dead End

The beast charged again, its berserk aura raging around its body as Kael met it head-on. Its first claw crashed against his blade, and before Kael could redirect it, the beast twisted its wrist.

“Double Impact!”

BOOM!

The second force exploded through the contact and drove Kael backward, but he regained his footing almost immediately. The beast was already on him again, its claws tearing through the air as Kael slipped past the first strike with Mirage Step, only for the creature to turn and catch him with another sweeping attack that forced him to retreat once more.

The beast pressed harder, refusing to let him breathe. Crescent Claw ripped toward Kael from both sides, and he slipped through the opening between them before vanishing with Mirage Step. He reappeared at the beast's flank, but it turned almost instantly and swung again. Kael ducked beneath the claw, his sword already moving as he stepped through the beast's guard.

“Mirage Draw.”

SHING!

The blade flashed from its sheath, forcing the beast to jerk backward. Kael followed with another Mirage Step, appearing on its opposite side before the creature could regain its balance. It spun and attacked blindly, but Kael had already disappeared again, reappearing just outside its reach.

The beast roared and chased him.

Kael waited until it committed to the attack before moving again, slipping past its claws and appearing behind it. The beast twisted around, but Kael was already drawing his sword.

“Phantom Edge.”

SHING!

The blade flashed across the beast's body before returning smoothly to Kael's hand.

A thin line of blood appeared.

Kael glanced at it, then calmly used his hand to coat the blade with the blood, dragging it down toward the edge.

“Blood Reinforcement....”

The black crescent on his palm pulsed.

The blood covering the blade began moving, gathering tightly along its edge.

Then a tiny silver tint appeared within the dark coating.

Kael's expression didn't change.

The beast froze.

Its instincts screamed danger.

It turned and tried to escape.

Its first step carried it forward.

Then its body jerked backward.

The beast looked down before digging its claws into the earth and trying again.

Nothing.

The blood already on Kael's blade was pulling it back.

The beast resisted, its claws carving deep lines into the ground as it fought against the invisible force. Its bronze aura flared violently, but the pull refused to release it.

Kael simply watched.

The beast roared and resisted harder, its entire body straining against the force.

Kael took one step forward.

The distance between them closed.

The beast's resistance became desperate, but its body was still being dragged toward him.

Kael calmly raised his reinforced blade.

The dark blood coating the edge shimmered with that faint silver tint.

The beast fought against the pull with everything it had.

Kael's sword moved.

“Dead End.”

SHING!

The slash passed cleanly through the beast's neck.

Its head flew.....
