Kael looked at the tall hunter for a moment, his expression finally showing a trace of interest.

"A bet?"

The hunter nodded, clearly pleased that he had finally gotten Kael's attention.

"That's right."

He glanced toward the Silver core resting on the counter before looking back at Kael.

"You seem very confident that you earned that core. So let's put something on the line."

Kael remained silent.

The hunter's smile widened.

"We fight. If you win, I'll admit in front of everyone that you really killed the Silver beast."

A few hunters immediately began whispering.

"And if I win?"

The hunter pointed toward the Silver core.

"You hand the core over to me."

The reception area erupted.

"What?"

"He's betting a Silver core?"

"Would the guild even allow that?"

"There's no way."

"That guy must be insane."

The receptionist immediately frowned.

"That core is currently under mission verification."

The hunter waved her off.

"I'm not asking you. I'm asking him."

His eyes remained fixed on Kael.

"You wanted to leave me alone because you're too busy, right?"

He smiled.

"Then make it worth your time."

Kael stared at him.

The hunter spread his arms confidently.

"Unless..."

He paused deliberately.

"...you're afraid to bet."

Kael suddenly burst into laughter.

The tall hunter's confident smile slowly faded as Kael continued laughing, his shoulders shaking slightly.

Several hunters looked at each other.

"He's laughing?"

"What's so funny?"

"I think he actually finds the bet ridiculous."

Kael wiped the corner of his eye, still looking amused.

"You want me to bet my Silver core?"

He shook his head.

"Keep dreaming."

A few hunters snickered.

The hunter's expression darkened.

Kael's laughter faded, but the amused look remained on his face.

"Like I said, I don't care what you or anyone here thinks. You admitting that I killed a Silver beast is naturally none of my business, and it doesn't help me in any way."

The crowd became quieter as Kael continued.

He glanced briefly at the Silver core on the counter.

"You want to bet? Then bring something useful."

Kael looked back at him.

"And don't expect me to put anything on the line."

The hunter's expression tightened.

Several hunters exchanged amused looks.

"He's basically telling him to bring a better offer."

"And he's still not willing to risk the core."

"I can't blame him."

Kael casually folded his arms.

"Me wasting my time with you is already good enough."

The crowd went quiet again.

The tall hunter's face twitched.
