The tall hunter's face remained red from the laughter surrounding him.
He looked at Kael, clearly embarrassed, then raised the black token slightly.
"Do you even know what a Peak Bronze technique is?"
Kael looked at him calmly.
"Can't you see I'm a swordsman?"
He casually pointed toward the sword at his side.
"Who will I cry to if what's inside your token is a bow and arrow technique?"
The reception area went silent for half a second.
Then the crowd erupted into laughter.
"Hahaha!"
"He's got a point!"
"Imagine giving a swordsman an archery technique!"
"That would be completely useless to him!"
Several hunters laughed openly, while even some of those who had been skeptical of Kael couldn't hide their amusement.
The tall hunter's face darkened.
"Enough."
The laughter gradually died down.
He looked at Kael and slowly raised the token.
"Then I'll tell you exactly what's inside."
Kael's expression remained calm.
The hunter held the token between two fingers.
"It's called Prey Mark."
The reaction from the crowd was different this time.
Several experienced hunters immediately recognized the name.
"Prey Mark?"
"That's a hunting technique."
"A Peak Bronze hunting technique..."
A few hunters nodded with interest.
"It's extremely useful for tracking beasts."
The tall hunter's confidence returned.
"Once you identify a beast as your prey and make contact with it, Prey Mark allows you to maintain a sense of its general direction."
He paused.
"It doesn't matter if the beast runs. As long as it remains within the technique's range, you won't completely lose track of it."
Another hunter added,
"That would be incredibly useful against beasts that flee after being wounded."
"Or beasts that hide in difficult terrain."
"Especially those with concealment abilities."
The hunter looked at Kael.
"Of course, it doesn't weaken the beast or reveal its exact location. You still have to hunt it yourself."
Kael's eyes remained on the token.
The hunter smiled.
"Now you understand what you're being offered."
Kael was silent for a moment.
Unlike another offensive technique, this one actually had a purpose beyond combat.
He could use it during missions.
A beast escaping into a forest would no longer mean losing the hunt completely. Even if it tried to hide or create distance, Kael would still have a way to follow its general direction.
The hunter noticed the slight change in Kael's expression.
"So?"
Kael finally looked up at him.
"That's better."
The hunter's smile widened.
"Then we have a bet?"
