Hunt Race

Chapter 140: Forfeit

Kael's eyes remained on the black token for a few seconds.

Then, without saying anything, he suddenly stood up.

The tall hunter straightened immediately, assuming Kael had finally decided to accept the fight.

Instead, Kael stretched both arms above his head.

"Ahh..."

He rolled his shoulders, loosened his neck, and stretched his back as casually as someone preparing to leave after a long day.

The hunter stared at him.

"What are you doing?"

Kael looked at him.

"Any rules?"

The hunter folded his arms confidently.

"No."

Kael nodded.

"No rules?"

"I said no."

"Alright."

Kael gave his shoulders one final stretch before casually turning toward the crowd.

"I forfeit."

The reception area went completely silent.

The tall hunter froze.

"...What?"

Kael looked back at him with a small smile.

"I forfeit. You win."

The hunter's expression twisted in disbelief.

"But we haven't even fought!"

Kael shrugged.

"Didn't you say no rules?"

The hunter opened his mouth.

Nothing came out.

A few hunters immediately burst into laughter.

"Hahaha!"

"He actually found a loophole!"

"You should've made some rules!"

The tall hunter's face turned red.

"That's not what I meant!"

Kael chuckled.

"Well, you said it."

The crowd laughed even harder.

The hunter clenched his fists, clearly embarrassed, but Kael was already turning toward the others.

"Alright, alright."

He raised his hands playfully.

"I lost."

A few hunters quieted down, waiting for what came next.

Kael smiled.

"I lied about the Silver beast."

He pointed at himself.

"I didn't kill it."

The crowd erupted again.

"He's actually admitting it!"

"So he really forfeited!"

"That guy is ridiculous!"

The tall hunter stared at Kael in disbelief before finally snapping.

"No! That's not how it works! We fight, then—"

Kael immediately cut him off.

"That's your business, not mine."

He casually stretched out his hand.

"I conceded, so you win. Give me my token."

The hunter stared at him.

"But we haven't fought yet!"

Kael tilted his head.

"Who said we have to fight?"

The hunter's mouth opened, but Kael continued before he could respond.

"Alright, I kept my end of the bet."

His hand remained extended.

"Can I have my token?"

The hunter stood there for several seconds, his face twitching as the surrounding hunters watched with barely contained laughter.

Finally, with obvious reluctance, he placed the black token into Kael's hand.

Kael immediately closed his fingers around it.

He looked at the token, then back at the hunter.

A huge grin slowly spread across his face.

"Actually..."

The hunter's expression immediately changed.

Kael's grin widened.

"There is another way."
