The hunter tightened his grip on the glaive and lowered his body.
His bronze aura gathered along the curved blade.
Then he moved.
"Arc Breaker!"
The glaive swept toward Kael in a wide horizontal arc, forcing him to shift backward. But just as Kael moved beyond the blade's reach, the hunter suddenly twisted his wrists.
The glaive changed direction.
The blade reversed its path and came cutting back toward Kael from the opposite side.
Kael's eyes followed the movement.
"Mirage Step."
His body slipped away from the returning blade, and the glaive passed inches from his chest.
The crowd reacted immediately.
"He dodged it!"
"That technique changes direction halfway through!"
"How did he see it coming?"
The hunter didn't give Kael time to respond.
He rotated the glaive around his body.
"Severing Wheel!"
The weapon began spinning in a continuous circle, the curved blade tearing through the space around him with every rotation. Each swing flowed directly into the next, creating a moving wall of attacks that covered every angle around him.
Kael stepped back as the glaive swept past.
Another rotation came.
He shifted again.
The blade passed in front of him.
Another rotation followed.
Kael moved outside the arc, watching the rhythm of the spinning weapon.
The hunter advanced, keeping the glaive in motion and forcing Kael farther toward the edge of the arena.
The crowd grew louder.
"He's controlling the entire arena!"
"Kael can't get close!"
"That technique is dangerous!"
Kael suddenly stepped forward.
The hunter's glaive came around.
Kael disappeared.
"Mirage Step."
He slipped through the narrow opening between two rotations and appeared directly in front of the hunter.
The hunter's eyes snapped toward him.
Kael's hand moved to his sword.
"Mirage Draw."
SHING!
The blade flashed from its sheath.
But Kael didn't remain in front of him.
He immediately shifted again.
For a brief moment, the hunter saw Kael standing several steps away.
His hand appeared empty.
The sword was gone.
The hunter's eyes narrowed.
"What—?"
Kael smiled.
"I told you."
The hunter suddenly turned.
Kael was already standing at the correct angle, his sword firmly back in his hand.
The glaive was pointing in the wrong direction.
Kael's smile remained.
"Don't let me bleed you."
The crowd fell silent.
The hunter's expression changed.
He immediately pulled the glaive around, trying to catch Kael before he could attack.
Kael didn't use Mirage Step this time.
He simply waited for the glaive to enter range, then moved his body just outside its path while turning his wrist.
His sword flashed.
"Phantom Edge."
