Kael leaned forward slightly.
"Then what exactly do you feel when you sense mana like that?"
Darius looked at him for a moment before answering.
"At first, not much."
Kael waited.
"Mana is everywhere," Darius continued. "Inside your body, inside other living beings, in the air, in the ground. A normal Hunter can feel their own mana because they are constantly using it."
Kael nodded.
"But a Peak Bronze Hunter begins to notice that mana doesn't simply sit there."
Darius raised one hand.
"Imagine standing beside a river."
Kael listened.
"You can see the water moving. But if you close your eyes, you can still tell which direction the current is flowing by the pressure against your skin."
Kael's eyes narrowed.
"That's what sensing mana feels like?"
"Something similar."
Darius lowered his hand.
"You start noticing the movement of mana rather than simply knowing that it's there."
Kael looked thoughtful.
"So if someone uses a technique..."
"You may notice the mana gathering before the technique is released."
Kael's expression sharpened.
"Meaning I could see a technique coming?"
"Not exactly."
Darius shook his head.
"Don't confuse sensing mana with seeing the future. You won't automatically know what technique someone is using."
Kael nodded.
"But I might notice something changing."
"Exactly."
Darius continued.
"If someone gathers mana in their arm before attacking, you may feel that concentration. If someone begins circulating mana through their legs, you may notice the change."
Kael's eyes brightened.
"That could make fighting much easier."
"It can."
Darius's tone became serious.
"But only if your control is good enough to interpret what you're sensing."
Kael frowned.
"So just feeling mana isn't enough."
"No."
Darius looked directly at him.
"A beginner may sense too much and understand too little."
Kael thought about that.
"Then how do you learn to distinguish it?"
"Experience."
Darius answered simply.
"You fight. You train. You pay attention. Eventually, your senses begin separating the different flows."
Kael nodded.
"Can an ability affect mana sensing?"
"Yes."
Kael looked up.
"How?"
"Some abilities naturally interfere with mana. Others produce unusual mana signatures. Some Hunters can even hide their mana completely."
Kael immediately remembered something.
"Silent Veil."
Darius nodded.
"Exactly."
Kael leaned back.
"So someone with good mana sensing could detect a Hunter using Silent Veil?"
"Possibly."
Darius paused.
"But it depends on how skilled the user is and how skilled the person sensing them is."
Kael nodded slowly.
"Then Peak Bronze Hunters aren't just stronger."
"Correct."
Darius's expression remained calm.
"They begin approaching a different level of awareness."
Kael looked down at his hands.
He remembered his recent battles.
There had been moments when he seemed to understand an opponent's movement before it happened.
He had always thought it was simply experience.
Now he wasn't so sure.
"Can I learn this?"
Darius looked at him.
"You're already beginning to."
Kael's eyes lifted.
Darius continued.
"Not enough to call it true mana sensing. But your reactions have improved, and your understanding of mana is developing."
Kael was silent.
Then he asked,
"So what do I need to do to actually learn it?"
Darius gave him a faint smile.
"Stop trying to force it."
Kael frowned.
"Then what should I do?"
"Feel."
Kael stared at him.
Darius pointed toward Kael's chest.
"Don't immediately try to control your mana. Don't try to shape it into a technique. Just feel how it moves."
Kael closed his eyes.
For a few seconds, he remained completely still.
His breathing slowed.
He focused inward.
At first, there was nothing.
Then...
A faint warmth.
His own mana.
It moved through his body like a slow current.
Kael's concentration deepened.
Darius watched without interrupting.
Kael could feel his heartbeat.
His breathing.
The faint circulation of mana through his body.
Then something else caught his attention.
A subtle presence nearby.
Kael's eyes opened.
He looked directly at Darius.
"You have a lot of mana."
Darius's expression changed slightly.
"That wasn't sensing."
Kael blinked.
"Then what was it?"
Darius stood.
"You noticed the pressure."
Kael frowned.
"What's the difference?"
Darius looked at him.
"You'll learn."
Kael sighed.
"You're doing it again."
Darius gave him a faint smile.
"You asked too many questions."
Kael shook his head.
Then he looked at his palm.
There was still one thing he hadn't asked.
"What about my Mark?"
