The silence finally broke.
The Peak Silver shifted his grip on the glaive.
Cherry noticed immediately.
The next instant, his shadow disappeared from his position.
He appeared directly in front of her.
Cherry barely had time to react.
She raised her bow horizontally.
CLANG!
The glaive slammed into it, the force driving her backward.
Cherry slid several meters across the ground. Before the shadow could follow up, she released her bow and reached for her dagger.
“Blindspots.”
The dagger flashed toward his face.
The shadow tilted his head.
The blade passed harmlessly by his cheek.
Cherry's eyes narrowed.
She immediately abandoned the dagger and reached for her twin swords.
CLANG!
She barely blocked the next strike.
The impact pushed her back a step.
Cherry bit down on her lower lip.
He's fast.
She couldn't afford to let him dictate the pace.
Mana surged through her body.
“Wind Step.”
A small burst of wind erupted beneath her feet.
BOOM!
Cherry shot backward, instantly creating distance between them.
But the shadow didn't give her even a moment to breathe.
He advanced.
Cherry's expression hardened.
She reached for her bow again, pulled the string back, and released.
“Gale Shot!”
WHOOSH!
Three arrows of compressed wind tore through the air toward him.
The shadow didn't slow down.
With three effortless swings of his glaive—
SHING! SHING! SHING!
All three wind arrows were cut apart.
Cherry's pupils shrank.
He can cut through Gale Shot that easily?
The shadow was already upon her.
Cherry switched back to her twin swords and met him head-on.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Their weapons collided repeatedly.
Neither gave the other an opening.
Cherry's twin swords moved like flashes of silver, alternating between quick slashes and precise thrusts.
The shadow's glaive responded to every attack.
He parried.
She blocked.
He countered.
She twisted away.
For several seconds, they remained locked in close combat, neither able to gain the upper hand.
The shadow's eyes narrowed.
She's very good at close range.
That was unexpected.
He had assumed her bow was her greatest strength.
But Cherry was just as dangerous with her blades.
Suddenly—
The shadow stopped attacking.
He took a step back.
Cherry didn't pursue.
Instead, she watched him carefully.
The shadow began circling her.
One step.
Then another.
His glaive remained lowered at his side.
Cherry slowly turned with him, never taking her eyes off him.
She knew what he was doing.
He was searching for an opening.
Don't let him control the distance.
Suddenly—
The shadow burst forward.
His glaive swept through the air in a wide arc.
Cherry immediately infused mana into her arms and raised both swords.
BOOM!
The weapons collided.
The impact exploded outward.
Cherry gritted her teeth and held her ground.
But this time—
The shadow was the one forced backward.
One step.
Two steps.
His feet dug into the ground.
Cherry's eyes sharpened.
His flank!
The momentary opening was right there.
She didn't hesitate.
She lunged forward.
Both swords flashed toward him.
But then—
The shadow smiled.
Cherry's heart skipped a beat.
“Second Step.”
His figure disappeared.
Cherry's swords cut through empty air.
Her eyes widened.
What—?!
The shadow reappeared directly behind her.
Exactly where he had been circling moments earlier.
He had never been retreating.
He had been setting up his position.
His glaive was already descending.
Cherry turned around.
Too late.
The blade came crashing down with overwhelming force.
The shadow finally activated his technique.
“Glaive Stunner.”
