I Can Level Up Infinitely

Chapter 221: The End And The Beginning

Leon’s body streaked through the air. He was advancing across the sky at a great speed. But suddenly...

Phuff!

Everything darkened as Leon felt something swallowing him whole.

He felt as if he was falling into an abyss.

1 second.

2 seconds.

3 seconds.

And then...

Brightness washed over him again. Leon slowly opened his eyes. He found himself standing before a demon. He was back. Back from the final test. Memories spiraled in his mind, returning.

He clutched his head and dropped to his knees. "My sister... Jenny... Is she dead?" He somehow managed to utter those words, enduring the pain.

"I don’t know about your sister, Master. But whatever you witnessed inside your test, it wasn’t real."

Leon raised his eyes, tears rolling down uncontrollably. "You mean, she didn’t die?"

"I don’t think so."

Leon’s palms dropped to the ground as he looked at it. Black circles materialized and grew bigger as his tears continued to shower.

"It was all just a test. Just a test." He started murmuring the two sentences again and again.

The demon didn’t say anything immediately. He wasn’t there in Leon’s final test. But he knew one thing for sure. Whatever Leon had gone through was certainly brutal. So he let him relax for the moment.

After several minutes, when Leon finally calmed down a little, the demon spoke.

"Whatever you saw during the test wasn’t real, Master. So, please, don’t let it bother you."

Leon could tell that the demon was right. But how could he forget Jenny’s dead body? That was still vivid in his mind.

The demon stayed silent for a few more minutes before speaking again. "Once you are done here, you can go and visit your sister. And by the way, you passed the test, Master."

Leon raised his head. "I did? But I clearly lost control!"

"You lost control? Did you kill innocent people, Master?"

"Ummmm, no." Leon replied after thinking a bit.

"Did you kill someone without investigating the problem?"

"I don’t think so."

"But you killed people, right?"

"Yes." Leon nodded his head.

"Then that’s all that matters. You didn’t let your sorrow turn into a heart demon. You didn’t lose to your emotions, Master. That’s the purpose of the test. To see if you become chained by emotions or not."

"But I clearly lost control. I got so enraged that I felt like I wanted to destroy everything. I killed those three who had come to drop Jenny’s body. And I was going after the main culprit behind her death. That’s when I returned."

Hearing that, the demon nodded in realization. "I think I know what happened, Master. So, you were crying because you saw your sister dead. And then killed those who were responsible in rage. But that’s not losing control, is it?"

"It isn’t?" Leon asked in surprise.

"No, Master. When we face tragedy in life, when we lose someone, four things can happen. We move on like nothing happened, which is emotionless. Second, we are so much consumed by the grief that we stop living. That is cowardly. Third, we lose ourselves in rage. We become its slave and destroy everything within our capability without judgment. That’s stupidity. But there is a fourth thing that can happen." The demon paused for a little, letting his words settle.

"We use the rage in our favor, Master. We use it like a weapon. And that’s called resolve. You love your sister. And she died. You could have moved on as many do. But you didn’t. Many lose hope in life after losing someone close to them. They can’t move on, they can’t deal with it either. But you didn’t stay down, Master. You took revenge. You used your rage.

But you didn’t let your rage consume you. You considered reasoning. You tried looking for the main culprit.

Do you understand now, Master? That’s why you passed."

Leon didn’t say anything immediately and contemplated the demon’s explanation.

’Resolve. Could Logan achieve his resolve as well after Ariana died? Or did he let his rage consume him? The other two options are clearly out of the question.’

After some time, Leon exhaled a deep sigh. "If there is no more test, I would like to leave this place and meet my sister first. I will only be able to relax when I see her for myself that she is okay."

"Sure, Master. You have passed all the tests and proven yourself to be worthy of the rewards. You have already obtained the first reward. The Demon Sword. And for the second reward..."

The demon raised his hand and stretched out his palm toward Leon. Instantly, an azure-colored pill appeared. The moment it did, a dense medicinal aroma erupted.

"Here, Master. The Blood Dantian Pill."

Leon reached out and took the pill. He sniffed it, taking a long whiff. "Even without consuming it, I can tell this is good. Really good."

"Only good? Master, this is the best of the best. Only one piece in existence throughout the whole history. Throughout the whole universe. No wealth, no treasure can measure up to it. This single pill is enough to start a blood war."

Leon nodded. "Should I just eat it now?"

"Yes, Master. But before that..." He snapped his fingers.

Instantly, Leon and the demon were transported to the fiery place.

Hisssss!

The demon’s skin started melting away instantly. But it regenerated even faster. Faster than Leon’s speed for sure.

"After you take the pill, your dantian and meridians will break apart. They will turn to nothingness before rebuilding themselves. And for that, you will need a huge amount of Qi. This place..." He said as he looked around... "You will be able to absorb the fire and refine it into Qi. Also..." He snapped his fingers once more. All the cores from earlier piled up around him. "These cores can also be used. I am not sure, though, if these will be enough."

Leon raised an eyebrow. "This many cores! And you are still not sure?"

"You will see for yourself, Master. But don’t worry. If they indeed fall short, I have other arrangements."

Leon stared at the pill for a while before nodding. He then sat in front of the pile of cores in a lotus position.

And then...

He swallowed the Blood Dantian Pill.
