The moment the pill reached Leon’s stomach, it melted instantly. And when the last trace of the pill vanished...
"Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh." Leon let out an agonizing scream and collapsed on the floor.
Instead of helping, the demon moved away in the distance. "Please endure it, Master. If you can, you shall rise to the pinnacle of power."
Leon felt the excruciating pain of bones shattering as his skeleton collapsed, not just his dantian. His meridians were torn apart. Blood started gushing out from every pore of his body.
[Warning!]
[Warning!]
[Host’s cultivation base is being destroyed.]
Notifications flooded the system panel. But Leon barely had any chance to check them.
[Cultivation realm is plummeting.]
[First level of Martial Master realm.]
[Seventh level of Martial Warrior realm.]
Leon gritted his teeth and tried to endure, but the pain was just too fu***ng unbelievable. He was in no state to perform the Mystic Monarch Ascension technique to absorb fire or Qi from the surroundings.
[Second level of Martial Warrior realm.]
[Fifth level of Martial Apprentice realm.]
....
....
[Cultivation realm: Nil]
[Host has become crippled.]
His dantian was totally destroyed now. His meridians had also torn apart.
Leon lay there, sprawled. Fire howled around him. He reached out with his trembling hand for a monster core. He picked it up and put it in his mouth. And then...
Gulp!
He swallowed it. Instantly, a warm sensation spread through his body. It wasn’t much compared to the pain he was suffering from now, but it was enough to elevate his morale. Enough to give him hope to hold on until the end. Leon slowly picked another monster core and swallowed it. Then another. And another.
Slowly, the pain started to be subdued. The more he consumed, the more the pain decreased. But he had to swallow more than fifty Disaster Class monsters’ cores to finally feel a change inside him. A great amount of Qi condensed into a thick mist like substance, attracting more and more Qi. Two more followed. Two more crystal like masses of Qi formed and started gathering Qi. All three were tiny at first.
But soon they started growing bigger. Blood essence wrapped around them, giving them an energy core like shape.
But they were still very tiny. Leon continued to consume one monster core after another. And he was picking up all the high grade ones, the ones from Disaster Class monsters.
Ten. Twenty. Hundred.
After swallowing almost five hundred Disaster Class monster cores, Leon’s dantians were finally formed.

If he had consumed that many monster cores some other time, his cultivation would have reached the peak of the Martial Grandmaster realm for sure. Yet here he was. Finally forming the dantian only.
Leon didn’t stop and continued to swallow monster core after monster core. Next, blood swirled in the form of chains inside his body. His meridians were reforming now. Leon again had to consume hundreds of monster cores to form his meridians.
After three hours of constant pain and eating monster cores, Leon was finally done with rebuilding his dantians and meridians. And even before he started cultivation, he could feel the change. The meridians were multiple times thicker compared to his earlier ones. Even without a breathing technique, Leon felt that fire was pouring inside him and being refined.
His expression stiffened. He was totally shocked to see the effect of his new meridians. And the dantians. They felt like bottomless pits, hungry for more Qi.
Leon gulped in astonishment and continued to swallow monster cores like candy.
Meanwhile, Snow had finally reached the peak of the mountain. Arriving at the mountaintop, she found only four people were there.
A muscular man with tattoos. Clearly Sylus Moure.
And one young female with two men.
Nobody had noticed her arrival yet. Everyone was too focused on Red Horn’s Nest to care about her.
Snow brought out a small dagger from a pouch. Ancient stones were embedded in the hilt of the dagger. Even when sheathed, it was radiating an ominous aura. ’You killed my mother for that treasure. I would like to see how you get your hands on it, you bastard.’ Saying that, Snow unsheathed the dagger in one swift pull and rushed toward Sylus.
Sylus was staring at the volcano, his heart still pounding from the energy he had felt earlier. Though a long time had passed for Leon, outside the volcano, only a few minutes had passed. As a result, Sylus didn’t notice that someone was rushing toward him with a brandished dagger.
Just before thrusting the dagger forward, Snow swiftly cut her palm with the dagger. The moment the blood touched the dagger’s sharp edge, it was ablaze.
The blazing aura hummed dangerously as Snow struck.
Sylus, who was busy observing the volcano, suddenly felt dread. He turned instantly to react. But the tip of the dagger was only a hair’s breadth away.
Schlk!
The tip pierced his chest. Instantly, his veins bulged, blood burning inside them.
"Arrrggghhhhhhhhh." Sylus let out a scream and backhanded Snow.
Snow was flung through the air like a rag doll and tumbled to the ground. She immediately coughed up a mouthful of blood. The dagger in her hand disintegrated. A one-time-use rare treasure, capable of hurting even Disaster Class knights.
A smile spread across Snow’s face as she raised her head. The smile painted with blood looked frightening. "I have been waiting for this for a long time, Sylus. Did you think you could live the way you wanted after killing my mother?" she said, her voice filled with venom as she glared at Sylus.
But under her satisfied gaze, Sylus suddenly raised his hand and struck his chest.
Lightning crackled across his body, white and blue energy dancing. He looked at Snow with a cold face as the wound started to heal.
"Courting death," He roared.
