Sylus started walking toward Chen’s body. Chen slowly stood up. He looked terrible at the moment. His nose was broken. His lips looked pale blue, blood gushing out from the corner of his lips. ’Why the fuck is this guy so strong? With this sword, I should be invincible, yet I couldn’t land a proper hit on him.’ He cursed inwardly. The middle-aged man who had come with Chen reached him and helped him stand properly. "I told you not to underestimate him. Now do you see why?"
Amber also stood up. One of her male companions reached out and helped her. The other one lay sprawled in the distance. He was too badly injured to even move.
But before Sylus could reach Chen, three figures emerged from the mountain trail on the mountain top. These three were none other than Emily, Sol, and Spencer.
Another group appeared from another side. Hazel, Wren, and the female elder from the demon slayer clan.
Many more figures still decided to continue hiding in the shadows and observe. Everyone present on the mountaintop was capable of shaking the world. The strongest Disaster Class hunter of the world, Sylus Moure. One of the elders from the Demon Slayer clan. The Crimson Moon’s clan master’s youngest son, Chen Wangshen. Purple Hermit clan’s senior-most elder’s only daughter, Amber Hale. And Emily’s group couldn’t be neglected either. Emily herself was the youngest S-Class hunter of the world. Spencer was an A-class hunter as well.
The others hiding in the shadows held their breath, anticipating how the scene would unfold. Will they join hands and make groups? Or will they all fight for the pill separately?
"So many are here for the pill, Sis," Sol said to Emily in a hushed voice. "Maybe we should just leave. The opponents aren’t something we can deal with on our own. If father were here, that would be a different thing entirely."
Emily scanned the area. She also knew what Sol said made sense. And it wasn’t like she was desperate for the pill like the others either. She had only come here on an order from the family. But just as she was busy deciding what to do, Sylus spoke. "You girl, aren’t you Emily Flemming, Jason Flemming’s daughter?"
Emily looked at him. "Yes." She said expressionlessly.
"Good. Come and help me. In return, I will owe Jason a favor. How does that sound?"
"We agree, Mr. Moure," Spencer replied before Emily could even think. "I am Spencer Flemming, by the way." He specifically said it so Sylus would know who he should owe the favor to.
Emily glared at him. Noticing this, Spencer smiled mischievously. "Emily. Think about it. This is Sylus Moure we are talking about. There is no chance for us to get the pill. But if we help him, he will owe us a favor. Uncle may also be a Disaster Class hunter, but what’s wrong with having an extra backup? Who knows if we will ever need any help." He said that to Emily, but he was planning something else entirely.
On the other hand, Sylus had asked them to help because he was getting impatient. He needed to secure the pill, but now so many were here with the same purpose. Fighting them all on his own still wouldn’t be a problem, but as he was keeping Snow as a hostage, it could turn out to be a bit difficult for him.
"You two." The elder from the Demon Slayer clan called out Chen and Amber. "We need to join hands if we want to defeat him. We can decide who gets the pill later. And don’t dare to say no, or your clans can forget about any help from the Demon Slayer clan."
Chen and Amber looked at each other before nodding to the elder’s proposal.
The elder then looked at Sylus. "You may be strong, but you won’t be able to take all of us at once. Be wise and leave." She said.
"Hmmmph." Sylus sneered. "If it were a battle of bragging, I definitely would have lost. Too bad it’s not. Crawl back to where you have come from. Or else meet the consequences." Sylus said.
Spencer was eagerly walking toward Sylus. Emily and Sol also started helplessly. But just then Sylus said something that stopped Emily in her tracks.
"The moment Leon Bale comes out is the moment the pill will become mine. I would really like to see who can stop me."
Emily froze. Sol and Spencer stopped as well.
’Fuck.’ Spence cursed. ’It’s him again.’
"Who did you say the person inside the volcano is?" Emily asked, the ground beneath her feet freezing as a cold breeze erupted from her.
"Hmm?" Sylus narrowed his eyes as he turned toward Emily. "Leon Bale. Why?" He felt something amiss. And it definitely was because the very next moment...
Flames erupted in Emily’s one hand, and icy frost condensed into an ice sword in the other.
"Sol, call father and inform him that we need backup. Now." Emily said, her gaze fixated on Sylus.
"Emily, don’t be a fool. Try to understand what situation w..." Spencer started speaking as he walked toward Emily but couldn’t finish.
Emily looked at him, her aura practically screaming, ’If you say one more word, you will die.’
Spencer went silent.
Everyone watched with a dumbfounded expression as the scene started unfolding in a totally different direction.
Emily raised her frost sword at Sylus. "You have to leave." She said. "You all as well." She then said, tilting her head toward the others from Summitas Valley.
The whole mountaintop froze. Who all were these people? All powerhouses. Legends on their own. Yet a twenty-year-old girl dared to order them so brazenly. It was a blatant challenge to their might, to their existence.
So what if she was an S-Class hunter? So what if her father was one of the only five Disaster Class hunters?
All glared at her with both bewilderment and rage.
