"So you are saying if I participate in the combined mission, people will try to kill me?"
"Highly likely. Even if they don’t try to kill you, they will surely try to hinder your actions," Rudy said.
Leon stayed silent for a while before saying. "Well, I don’t have time to wait. So, I want to participate in the combined mission. If someone is willing to die, I can’t really help, can I?" Leon said casually.
Rudy and Daisy froze before Rudy burst into laughter. The scar on his face was totally contradictory to his smile at the moment. ’Who was I even warning? The person who defeated Sylus Moure. The person who defeated the strongest Disaster Class hunter. So what if someone tries to harm him, so what if someone schemes to kill him? They will never succeed.’
"Okay," Rudy said. "I will arrange for your name to be endorsed on tomorrow’s challenger list. You should go and take some rest. You had a rough day yesterday."
It had already been one day since Leon had defeated everyone. As he had to take the car instead of Noira’s void rift, it took him almost one day to return to Delvan.
"I will show him the room," Snow said before standing up. Leon also stood up. "Thank you for everything, Mr. Rudy. I am looking forward to tomorrow’s mission."
"Yes, yes. I am looking forward to it as well. Though I expect it was my first time seeing you in action." He raised his hand and waved goodbye.
Snow left the room, Leon following behind her.
Once they left, Daisy finally spoke. "You didn’t even take his test."
"Test? What kind of test can challenge his limit? I don’t think there is any I know of. Or else, I too would like to test him, to see what his limit is. I wish you could have also seen what he was capable of."
"But is it a good idea to let him participate tomorrow? Last year, Isayah killed one of Albert’s recruits. He had no proof, but since then, he had been waiting. And those two twins he recruited... Both are A-Class knights. I hope you are not sending him to his death’s door."
At those words, Rudy chuckled inwardly. A-Class knights? Were they any better than ants before Leon? Rudy hadn’t disclosed that Leon killed Disaster Class knights. He knew that there were people who were already aware of it. But still, most of the world didn’t know. Or else, many would be after his life. After the treasures he possessed, after the blood essence formed by consuming the Blood Dantian Pill. He knew Leon had the power to stand against any powerhouse in this world. But he didn’t know what Leon’s limit was. How many opponents could he fight against at once? So he didn’t want him to be in trouble. He even made his four buddies promise that they wouldn’t tell anyone.
"Don’t worry. He will be okay." Rudy replied after some time.
Meanwhile, Snow and Leon again got into the car as Snow took him to the residential area of the camp.
While going, Leon saw many people in uniform pass by. Some were gossiping and laughing; some had gloomy faces. But one thing was common. Everyone exuded the aura of an experienced fighter.
Snow soon stopped before a five-story building. "This is where we will be staying." Snow said as she got out of the car.
"You also stay here?" Leon asked.
"No. But I will be. After all, I will be participating in the mission with you, too."
"Hmmm?" Leon raised an eyebrow. "Why? Are you in the military or planning to join the military, too?"
"I am planning to go wherever you go," Snow said bluntly.
Leon was taken aback by those words. And for a moment, he didn’t know what to say.
Snow looked at him seriously before bursting into laughter. "I was just kidding. But look at you. You look like you have just seen a ghost. You never had a girlfriend?"
"Nope."
"Good boy. Don’t think about having one in the future, either." She said with a grin before walking toward the building.
"Wait, what?" Leon became even more confused. This girl seemed strange. But seeing that Snow had no intention to stop, he followed her with a sigh.
Snow guided him to the third floor and then stopped before a room. "Here. 315. You can stay in this room. Take rest. The mission will start at nine sharp tomorrow. Before that, have your breakfast and be present on the large ground in front of this building. The dining hall is on the ground floor, south corner. Any more queries?"
"Okay for now."
"Okay. See you tomorrow then."
"Okay."
Then suddenly, before Leon could even react, Snow gave a peck on his cheek and ran from the place.
Leon froze. ’This girl.’ He mused while rubbing his wet cheeks. ’She is nuts for sure.’
Rrrrrrrrrrrr!
Suddenly, something happened inside his body, as if something was seething with rage. It was the same as when he had called the Raging Inferno’s Wing’s ability useless. And this time, it was even fiercer. Leon’s forehead soaked with sweat.
The sensation only stopped after a long time.
"What the hell was that?" He whispered. A long time passed, but he found no answer. He thought Frenrir or Lamia might say something, but they didn’t.
Leon stood in a daze for a long time before entering the room. He didn’t even check the condition of the room or what furniture was there, and collapsed onto the bed. Though it seemed like a few days outside, he had been fighting for months inside the Red Horn’s Nest. His body was screaming for a nap.
Meanwhile, somewhere else in that same military camp.
A man was seated in a chair. On the desk before him, a scepter rested. He was wiping the dust clean with a napkin.
Just then, two figures entered the room.
"Major, you called for us."
The person continued wiping the scepter for a few more minutes before placing it on the table and looking at them. In front of him, a man and a woman stood. Both in their mid-twenties.
"You are going to participate in tomorrow’s mission."
"Yes, Major." Both replied at once.
"And...
There is someone I need you two to take care of."
