Riven’s and the other two’s bodies stiffened. Only for a second, as they reacted quickly.
Luna leaned forward and lunged at Leon, the black claymore flashing in the air.
Riven thrust the halberd forward with everything he had.
Juan shot five arrows at once.
Leon twisted his body and dodged the sword slash. He flipped in the air and landed on the halberd to use it as a base to propel himself into the sky the next moment.
The arrows changed their trajectory and shot toward Leon. Leon raised his hand as multiple explosive iceballs shot forward one after another. Five of them intercepted the arrows while the others bolted toward Juan.
Boooom!
Boooom!
Boooom!
Juan dodged, but wherever the iceballs landed, an explosion erupted. Juan wasn’t lucky enough to dodge all the explosive iceballs either. One struck his left arm while another struck his left knee.
"Ahhhhhhhhhh." He screamed in pain as his body was shot backward.
Leon landed on the ground but had no time to relax. He jumped, his knees touching his chest as the halberd swept dangerously below him.
He spun in the air horizontally, dodging the sword slash next.
Whoooosh!
A sword materialized in Leon’s hand. But it wasn’t the Frost Monarch’s blade. It was the Demon Sword. The moment it appeared, Riven, Luna, and Juan all felt their hearts thumping with fear. The aura the massive crimson blade radiated was suffocating and overbearing.
Riven swung the halberd. Leon didn’t dodge this time. He swung the massive blade in response.
Clanggggg!
Pengggggggh!
Schlk!
Three distinct sounds echoed. First, both weapons clashed with a harsh metallic sound. The halberd failed to last even a nanosecond before snapping in half. The rugged edge of the blade struck Riven, drawing blood. His feet left the ground as his body doubled over. Blood sprayed from his mouth and splattered on the crimson blade.
And then...
He was sent flying like a ragdoll.
Leon flipped in the air again, dodging another sword slash. But his hands moved as well. The massive blade cut through the air, a trail of crimson aura following behind it.
Clanggggggg!
Luna had brought up her sword at the last moment. Though she saved herself from dying instantly, the impact sent her flying as well.
Leon swung his sword at his back.
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
Three arrows struck the massive blade before clattering to the ground. Leon didn’t charge toward Juan. He only whispered two words. "Sword song."
Instantly, invisible arcs of sword aura flew out of the Demon Sword and sliced off Juan’s different body parts.
Luna and Riven were already on their feet, ready to charge at Leon with rage. But Leon just calmly raised the Demon Sword, the sword tip pointing toward the sky. "Sword Rain." He spoke. Not loud. Not hushed. Just calmly, as if he were talking to a person. But lightning crackled in the sky as multiple swords materialized in the sky. Even before descending, the pressure they created almost made Riven and Luna pee in their dress.
"Wait. We were...."
"Forgive us. It won’t..."
Both Riven and Luna started, but they couldn’t finish as Leon swung the blade downward. The motion wasn’t anything special. But what followed was devastating. Too devastating. The blades rained down.
Boooom!
Boooom!
Boooom!
Explosions occurred in a rhythm, the ground being riddled with craters.
Luna and Riven tried their best to dodge, but they weren’t that lucky.
One sword pierced through Riven’s shoulder from above. The other from the skull.
One sword pierced Luna’s foot, pinning her down to the spot before two more found their target with ease.
Schlk!
Schlk!
Her lifeless body stood like a statue, blood dripping uncontrollably.
And then...
Silence...
Absolute silence...
The Demon Sword vanished into the system storage. As Leon raised his hand, the black claymore vibrated slightly before rising into the air and shooting toward him. It also vanished into the system storage.
In only a few minutes, all of them were dead.
There was no triumphant look on Leon’s face. "How cruel people are!" He sighed. "They aren’t hesitant to sacrifice anything just for power."
After standing there for a few minutes, Leon slowly turned toward the cave. He could feel it. A strange familiarity. It was as if something was calling to him. He slowly walked toward the cave entrance.
The cave was huge, almost like a two-story building. Thick moss clung to the stony wall like skin, while tree branches covered it like clothes.
He stopped before the cave entrance. Now the strange familiarity felt even stronger. Leon hesitated only for a second before entering the cave.
Inside, it was totally vacant. No clothes, no weapons, no necessary items except one thing.
A pool. A very small pool, barely large enough for two people.
Leon slowly walked toward it and stopped at the edge. No light reached here, but he could tell that the water was fresh. But that didn’t attract his attention. Something at the bottom of the pool did. Through the rippling water, he could see it clearly.
An oval-shaped object. It wasn’t too big. But it wasn’t small either. A crimson aura radiated from it as if the object was glowing.
Leon bent down slowly to take a closer look. "So this is the egg they had been looking for. The thing the monster had been guarding. What kind of ability is it hiding inside?" He whispered. "Let’s just take a closer look." He stood up straight and started removing his clothes to enter the pool. But when he had only removed his long coat, a voice echoed behind him.
"Took you long enough, bastard. But you finally decided to show up."
Leon froze. He slowly turned around only to see the monster standing before him. The same monster he and others had thought was dead.
Blood covered its whole body. But somehow, the severed arm had fully regenerated.
Before Leon could even fully process...
Bammm!
The monster’s fist shot out, slamming into his face.
Whoooooosh!
