At the king’s words, everyone’s grip around their weapons tightened.

"Father, let me explain." Lilith started, but the King raised his hand, cutting her off.

"I asked you a question. It shouldn’t be that difficult to answer."

"Yes," Logan replied without even blinking. But the moment he confirmed, the King’s eyes darkened. "How dare you taint the sacred ground of the Royal Palace with your vile presence?" He roared. "Guards! Chain him right now. We will execute him before the whole empire."

"Father!" Lilith also spoke loudly. "What’s the meaning of this? He fought for us. Helped us obtain a treasure." She didn’t specifically say the bow’s name because that would draw more unwanted attention. "And in return, you want to detain him?" She couldn’t understand why her father was acting like this.

"Lilith, you were fooled by this corrupted creature. He’s a demon. Do I need to explain what a demon is?"

"You don’t. But did you forget that you yourself said once that we don’t judge by blood. We judge by sweat. Someone’s background doesn’t matter. It’s what we do that defines us."

The King’s eyes turned bloodshot in rage. "Fool! What can a demon do that would turn its vicious nature into something that we can appreciate? Knights, chain him already. What are you waiting for?"

A few of the knights strode forward, but before they could reach Logan, Lilith stood before them like a human shield. "Don’t you dare take a single more step."

"Lilith! What are you doing? Are you protecting a demon?"

"I am doing what’s right and what is just. He helped us obtain a treasure. He agreed to help us fight against the monsters from Nexar. And now you want to punish him? Not happening on my watch."

"Lilith, you think your words are above mine? Don’t forget you are a Princess. Not the queen. Who will inherit the throne next is totally my decision. Don’t make me strip you of every privilege you have." The King said angrily. But Lilith didn’t budge. "If you want to harm him, you have to go through me, father."

Jeremiah, who was standing a little behind, somehow suppressed his glee. ’Yes. That’s what I want. Tear each other apart,’ he mused and exchanged a knowing look with Merrick.

"You unfilial daughter." The King was seething with rage.

"Father, trust me. He’s not what you think." Lilith said again. She had seen what Logan was capable of. If he really wanted to harm the Empire, he could have already done it.

Before the King could speak, Merrick spoke. "Princess, I think you were bewitched by him. Why else would a Princess be talking for a demon?" He suppressed a chuckle, which didn’t go unnoticed by Lilith.

"Merrick, who gave you the courage to still talk before me?"

Merrick didn’t refute and looked at the King. "Your Highness, did you see that? I was only trying to help her in the Ghost Valley, but she not only humiliated me, she even tried to kill me."

"Lilith, that’s truly unbecoming of a person who is supposed to sit on the throne in the future," Jeremiah added from the side.

"That’s enough." Suddenly, one of the three who were hiding their true strength spoke. "King Hale, control your daughter or the consequences will be severe." He then looked toward the knights with weapons. "Go, restrain him and bring him here."

Logan had been standing leisurely this whole time. He looked directly at the King. "Is this what you want, or are you being pressured?"

For a moment, everyone froze before the King barked. "How dare you talk to me like that?"

He waved his hand, and immediately more than fifty knights marched toward Logan in unison.

Merrick chuckled. ’You bastard. You think you are invincible because you have those weapons? Let’s see what you can do once those legendary weapons are not yours anymore. Lilith is definitely going to be mine.’ He mused inwardly.

Jeremiah was also thrilled. ’After this, no one in the royal court will vote for her to be the future queen. The throne is definitely mine.’

But just before those knights could get close to Logan, a sudden pressure erupted. Their knees buckled due to pressure that felt like a mountain was pressing on them.

A figure with silver hair and a domineering aura appeared out of nowhere. It was none other than Yami. "You puny, arrogant fools. You have the nerve to threaten my Master." His calm yet authoritative words echoed through the air.

Everyone felt a chill rolling down their spines.

One of the three who had just given the order to capture Logan narrowed his eyes. "I am Veneric Josh from Ninth Heaven. The clan master of Valhalla Storm. Can I know who you are?" He didn’t speak arrogantly and merely introduced himself. He had two purposes. One, to intimidate Yami with his identity. Second, to know where Yami’s power originated. If Yami was from a more powerful background, then he definitely had to change his tactics.

Yami turned toward Veneric. "Do you deserve to know who I am? Are you worthy?" He said coldly. "Just now, you were the last one to order my Master to be chained, right?"

"That..." Before Veneric could continue, Yami raised two fingers and pointed toward Veneric. And then...

A downward swing...

Thud!

Crack!

Instantly, two distinct sounds echoed.

At the first one, Veneric’s knees slammed to the ground with a dull thud.

And in the second, the ground cratered beneath him.

Veneric’s face turned totally pale. He somehow raised his head and looked at Yami. "Silver hair." He muttered. "Silver eyes. Gravity magic. A barbarian presence. It’s him... The rowdiest divine beast. Yami."

The smile totally vanished from Jeremiah and Merrick’s faces. ’Wait! Who is this guy? And how the hell is he so strong?’ They both had the same thought.

The King staggered back and raised a trembling hand toward Logan. "It’s you! You are rebelling."

Yami waved two fingers in his other hand as well. This time, the King dropped to his knees, his face totally pale.

"And you are disrespecting my Master. Do it one more time, and you will become an Empire-less King."
