Perhaps as much as 80% of the banknotes Dean had scattered about had completely withered. It looked as though flowers filled with water had suddenly wilted. He had to admit it was quite a frightening sight.

Although he’d learnt from Raviel that these banknotes contained a high amount of energy, this was a bit too much.

It was as if something living had died.

That flower metaphor was a bit too realistic.

Dean had stopped paying attention to the banknotes around him and had then made his way towards the exit of the room, grasping the door handle.

As soon as he stepped outside, he saw that Raviel was standing at the far end of the corridor rather than in front of the door.

Dean smiled at him and began walking towards him.

With a sudden smile appearing on Raviel’s face, the two of them made their way into a sitting room.

Dean hadn’t said anything about the conversation he’d had with Nemesis just a short while earlier.

In other words, he’d chosen to keep it a secret because he was aware that Raviel, or rather, the Evergold family, had a direct connection to Apollo himself.

Naturally, this was why he’d been forced to keep his thoughts and his dream a secret.

He wanted to reach Aether as soon as possible.

So, one could say he simply had to wait for the days to pass.

Raviel had chatted with Dean for quite some time, yet she still had to return to London just as she had come.

After seeing this beautiful woman off from the castle, Dean wanted to continue his training.

Although his progress was very slow, at least training his Holy Power a little would do him some good.

As far as he knew, he wouldn’t be able to advance his mana to the next level just yet.

For that, he would need an ’epiphany’ or to seize an opportunity whilst training directly.

At least, that was what Percival had said.

Therefore, the only thing he could train at the moment was his Holy Power.

He wanted to become stronger once he reached Aether.

Heaven might be safe, but no one could say for certain that there would be no fights or anything of the sort.

His days would pass like this.

He would train his Holy Power from morning till night, go to bed early and wake up in the early hours of the morning.

During this time, he consumed the food he’d bought from the shipyard and managed to gradually increase his mana.

To be frank, his progress was much slower than he’d expected. Still, one mustn’t overlook the saying that ’little by little, a drop makes a lake’.

After a wait of nearly sixteen days, on the evening of what seemed like an ordinary Wednesday, the moment he’d been waiting for finally arrived:

[Host’s Holy Power has reached Level Two.]

With the level-up, Dean could feel the Holy Power within his body resonating through his very soul; taking deep breaths, he managed to regain his composure.

"Congratulations, my lord."

As Percival, watching Dean with a happy expression, spoke these words with a smile, Dean looked at him and said, "Thanks, Percival," before standing up.

He was drenched in sweat, so he managed to freshen up by taking a quick shower.

That evening, Dean had slept very soundly.

Since the dream he’d had in that dungeon that day, he hadn’t encountered anything else that made him feel quite so awful, and that was the silver lining.

By the time the twentieth day had arrived since his return from the dungeon, Dean had opened his eyes to what seemed like a normal morning, but he realised immediately that it was not a normal morning.

He was surrounded by a bright light. On his screen, that familiar system window was open once again.

[The Cosmic Terror, First Beta, Fifth Dungeon!

Dungeon Title: ??? (Aether)

Task: SURVIVE or DIE.

Dungeon will start in 01:23:55]

As soon as Dean read what was written in the system window, he sprang to his feet.

The countdown to the dungeon’s start was ticking down by the second. And what on earth was this message? ’Survive or Die’?

The young man had come across something called ’survive’ before, but this was something entirely different.

What’s more, this dungeon wasn’t in the Nether but in Aether itself.

What sort of danger could be chasing him that would require him to survive in Heaven?

These thoughts had gnawed at him for minutes on end.

He couldn’t even begin to imagine just how diabolical the things he was about to face would be.

He leapt up from where he was standing and began to prepare himself.

He had plenty of food and drink in his inventory. He’d managed to organise his items properly in his inventory and had put the Mask of Mist back on his face.

He didn’t know what kind of environment he’d be thrown into, or what was happening in the Aether right now, but there was nothing else he could do.

His wait would soon be over.

When the time was up, a light once again enveloped Dean, then the light drew him in and beamed him away.

When Dean was once again able to see his surroundings clearly, he realised he was no longer in a normal place; instead, he was looking at a region that was, quite literally, engulfed in flames.

"GET DOWN!!!"

The moment a shout reached his ears, events erupted instantly... in the truest sense of the word:

"BOOOOOM!!!!"

It was clearly visible that a massive bomb had exploded some three hundred metres away.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Dean shouted:

"PERCIVAL!"

At his shout, Percival shot out of his spirit. The ghost held his sword in his hand.

Dean, just in case, kept the Pocket Watch of the Unknown at the ready and had wrapped Moon’s Rope around his right arm.

He wanted to protect himself so as not to die instantly, just in case.

He didn’t know where to run; he had to head for a place where he could hide, find out what was happening, or think things through, whilst keeping a close watch on his surroundings.

Still, things weren’t going to be that easy.

In the blink of an eye, the young man had spotted a woman approaching him, wounded, with one arm severed but carrying a sword in her other arm, and with wings.

It was quite clear that the woman was no friend...
