I Have a Task Log

Chapter 470 - 469: The Flying Dragon’s Intervention

Chapter 470: Chapter 469: The Flying Dragon’s Intervention

Kase and Mog charged down the dark path, one after the other.

The Orcs, terrified by the Magic, didn’t dare to surround and stop them.

Besides, it would have been useless anyway. They could neither block the terrifying Magic nor stop the two enemies rampaging through their battle lines.

"For the glory of my family!"

Just as Colin was about to have Albert join him in a magical assault, a somewhat trembling shout reached his ears.

He glanced over and saw that fellow Albert, of all people, charging forward behind Kase and the others, his Kite Shield raised.

Because of the Weight Reduction Enchantment on his Armor, he was even running a bit faster than the other two.

Colin asked inwardly, ’Wait, why is Albert over there?’

’Should I tell him to come back?’ Dorn’s voice sounded in his mind.

’Tell him,’ Colin thought back. ’If he doesn’t want to return... then I can only hope he has a way to save himself.’

"Warg will smash you!" "Hogg will smash you first!"

The two Ettins had also spotted their approaching opponents. Their four heads bellowed as they charged.

The sight of the four giant clubs in their hands was enough to chill one to the bone.

Colin and Ale began Spellcasting at the same time.

Spiritual Light from the Magic flared from Colin’s Spellbook and the tip of Ale’s Magic Staff. A spark of golden flame and a blob of floating acid shot out simultaneously, exploding on the left and right legs of the Ettin on the left.

The exploding Flame tore apart the Armor bound to its legs, while the acid clung to its skin, voraciously corroding everything it touched.

Under the bombardment of the Fireball Technique and Acid Ball, the wound on the Giant’s knee was deep enough to expose bone. The Ettin next to it was also caught in the blast.

The Giant let out a bloodcurdling scream and fell to its knees, crashing to the ground.

’A Giant that can’t move can be finished off with Crossbows and Cantrips,’ Colin thought. ’That one is no longer a threat.’

As the two of them critically wounded the Ettin with Magic, Dorn threw his Spiritual Short Blade.

In a flash of white light, he Teleported directly on top of the other Ettin’s heads.

The man reached into his bag, pulled out a handful of white powder, and threw it at the Ettin’s two heads.

The Giant, having never encountered such a tactic, was hit square in the face. It began to howl and rub its eyes in agony.

’Is that lime powder?’ Colin wondered silently.

"Take this, monster!"

Albert, who had started last, arrived first. He charged right in front of the Ettin. Colin saw a fiery light burst from the Armed Sword in his hand—it looked like the Emerald Flame Sword.

However, the Giant, with its eyes closed, simply followed the sound and snatched Albert up.

Albert hurriedly swung his sword at the creature’s wrist. Perhaps due to his overwhelming fear, the Magic imbued in the sword was much weaker, failing to make the enemy let go.

Dorn, standing on the Giant’s head, quickly plunged his Dagger into the side of one of its foreheads.

Crying out in pain, the massive creature reflexively threw Albert. It roared and reached for Dorn on its head, but Dorn nimbly dodged back and forth across its shoulders. For the moment, the clumsy Giant couldn’t catch him.

The thrown Albert flew through the air, screaming loudly, and landed in front of the wagon fort.

It felt inappropriate to think it, but at that moment, Colin was actually quite grateful to the Ettin.

Just then, Mog and Kase reached the Giant’s feet.

"Mog, smash you!" the Ogre bellowed. He swung his iron club directly at the Giant’s knee, and with a single blow, the massive joint caved in.

Even from a distance, one could almost hear the sharp CRACK.

"Go right, you idiot!" "You’re the idiot!"

The Ettin shrieked in pain while its two heads started cursing each other.

Its left arm tried to counter-attack while its right arm tried to cover the injured left knee, causing its whole body to twist into a knot.

Dorn, still on the Giant, continuously slashed at its heads with his Dagger and Spiritual Short Blade, trying to further disrupt its movements.

Even so, the Giant’s left arm still swung its war club with precision, smashing down toward Mog. The Ogre twisted his body to meet the attack with the thickest part of his shoulder Armor.

At the same time, Kase, from behind, extended a palm, and a Shield formed from ancestral power enveloped the Ogre’s side.

CLANG!

With a deafening shriek of metal on metal, the club easily shattered the Shield. It struck the Ogre, sending him stumbling back several steps and leaving a large dent in his thick shoulder Armor.

After delivering this final blow, the off-balance Ettin fell to the ground completely.

As it looked up, its two pairs of murky eyes reflected the image of a Half-Orc holding a Giant Axe.

Kase charged in front of it and raised the Axe Blade of his Giant Axe high. His hands slid naturally to the end of the handle, and the ghostly blue Flame burning around him seemed to intensify.

The Axe Blade fell, and frozen shards of blood burst outward.

One of the Ettin’s heads rolled to the ground.

Mog then rushed forward and swung his club one-handed at the remaining head.

A cloud of blood mist erupted from under the iron club. The Ettin’s body convulsed once, then fell still.

Orelia, who had been standing beside Colin and Ale, stepped forward and began to chant a prayer.

"Dawn’s mercy, Lathander’s light, cease all pain."

A blue light flashed over Mog in the distance. The dent in his shoulder could be seen swelling back out slightly, clearly a result of Orelia’s long-range healing Magic.

’Nice work!’

As he thought this, Colin recited a Spell.

He then fired a Flaming Arrow that accurately struck the Giant that had been felled by Magic nearby. The Ettin twitched twice and was finished off for good.

The moment the two Ettins breathed their last, strange cries erupted from all around.

The Orcs that were still attacking turned and fled, abandoning their comrades who were trapped in the melee.

With the Giants and Shaman defeated, the already loosely-cohesive Orcs began to retreat. They had decided that these opponents were beyond their ability to handle.

Before long, the Orcs had vanished among the giant roots and tree trunks. It was less a rout and more an orderly withdrawal.

"We won!" "Get lost, you damn bastards!"

The surrounding soldiers all raised their weapons and cheered loudly.

The Mercenary who had previously questioned Colin’s ability to use Magic came forward.

He gave an awkward smile and said to Colin, "My apologies, esteemed sir. Forgive my recklessness. Your Magic and your companions all but decided the outcome of this battle."

"It’s fine. I don’t mind," Colin replied.

Just then, he saw Albert, who had been thrown earlier, shakily getting to his feet. He called out loudly, "Hey, Albert, are you—"

WHOOSH!

A sound like the beating wings of a Giant Dragon reached their ears.

"Dragon!" "A dragon’s coming!" The panicked shouts of the Mercenaries filled the air.
