Chapter 21: Chapter 21: We are robbing, aren’t we?

Solaris fell into a sudden, uncomfortable silence, not expecting these words from Mars at all.

She then remembered the night they’d first met, when Mars introduced himself, sharing the fact that his father had died before he was born... while his mother had died when he was 12.

Mars was now 18 years old. It had been six years since he’d lived alone in this world.

Solaris knew more than most, because of her illustrious background. So she knew how hard and cruel this world was, especially for those at the lower end of the ladder.

Yet looking at him, Mars truly didn’t look like someone who’d been through such intense pain and difficulty.

He smiled most of the time and loved to say stupid things every now and then.

’But... but it must not have been easy to lose your mother and father, right?’ Solaris thought, then suddenly frowned, her head lowering slightly. ’But maybe it’s better than being abandoned by your parents. At least he didn’t have to hate them.’

She clenched her fist tight, her veins snaking around her forearms, her blood gushing angrily through her body. ’But my parents gave me no choice. They never gave me one.’

Solaris’s aura was flaring up, and the temperature around the kitchen was heating up dangerously.

Mars’s Aspect had already been on high alert the whole time. Amid his shame at having said such cringy words in front of Solaris, he also felt her emotions shift from mild sadness to full-blown anger.

The speed of the transformation was staggering.

"Solaris, what’s going on again?" he called out, panicking. Without hesitation, he approached and grabbed her hand, trying to calm her down.

Solaris’s mind snapped back to reality at the contact. However, instinctively, she flicked Mars’s hand away with full force, making him stagger backwards a couple of steps.

"Don’t fucking touch me," she hissed at Mars, who barely managed to keep himself from falling.

He sighed under his breath, flexing his hand, sensing her emotions calming down. "Sorry, princess. I’ll need to touch you if I feel like you’re about to go full ’I Explode Everything.’" He smiled. "Okay?"

Then he looked at the hand he’d used to grasp her. It was deep red. "By the way, how fucking hot is your body?"

"My body is hot?"

"I mean, not that kind of hot. But yeah, you’re pretty hot either way."

Solaris’s lips pressed together tightly at his words, her face twitching, refusing to let him see the reaction he wanted from her.

She was getting used to him the same way he was getting used to her.

"Look at this sun bitch blushing over a compliment," Moon suddenly said, walking into the living room, wearing a short pink skirt and a cropped white top. "You’re so easy."

"You—!"

"Good morning, Moon," Mars said, stopping Solaris from cursing Moon’s entire lineage. "We’ve cleaned and cooked breakfast and lunch. Dinner is uncertain and will be discussed later. So if you believe in any god, it’s time to kneel down and pray for subsistence."

"I only kneel in front of you, sweetheart," Moon said with a smile, reaching the open kitchen and standing in front of Mars. "If you want, I can do it now and worship you."

"How would you?"

"Maybe your little brother needs some fresh air and something wet?"

Mars’s lips twitched. His heart began to race dangerously as Moon’s breath, after every word, caressed his neck, making him shiver.

He wanted nothing but to take a step back. Moon truly scared him to death, even more than Solaris.

However, he didn’t forget there was a game going on between the two of them.

A game he couldn’t afford to lose.

"Something wet, you say?" he said shakily. "...Like what?"

Moon chuckled, thoroughly amused. "Like this," she said, before opening her mouth wide, so wide that Mars could see the depth of her throat.

Saliva was dripping slowly at the corner of her lips, and Mars’s head was getting dizzy with—!

"You fucking pervert, we’re training now!!" Solaris screamed as she grabbed his collar and pulled him away from Moon.

"Hey, hey, Solaris! What?!" Mars screamed.

"We’re fucking training!"

"But breakfast! Breakfast, goddamnit!"

"Don’t fucking curse at me!"

"You always do, you crazy woman!"

"You’re not me! And let’s take the breakfast and eat at the gym on the first floor!" Solaris snapped. "You’re doing cardio and weightlifting today!"

Before Moon understood what was happening, Mars and Solaris were gone from the ground floor, taking the elevator up to the first floor, where the gym was.

She stood there, saliva still dripping from the corner of her mouth, before bursting into laughter.

"This sun bitch is training sweetheart? Gods above!"

She laughed until Willow appeared, with messy hair, big glasses, and baggy clothes that dragged along the floor, going straight to the table where breakfast was.

Moon stopped and looked at her, wiping the saliva from the corner of her mouth at the same time.

"You will never believe what just happened, Willow," she laughed, joining her, sitting across from her.

"Do you know who beat Mars?"

"Is that all you think about? Come on! You’re not interesting at all!"

"I don’t want to be interesting for your twisted pleasures."

"Whatever, girl. Whatever," Moon said, waving her hand lazily. "Anyway, the sun bitch is training Mars."

Willow stopped in her tracks. She slowly lifted her head towards Moon, her pink eyes slightly wide. "What?"

Moon grinned.

"Now that’s what I’m talking about. Let’s gossip. I miss shitting on people behind their backs."

"Not shitting on Mars’s back."

"Willow, just go fuck yourself at this point."

"But you can shit on Solaris’s back."

"Willow, I think I love you."

"I will murder you if you say that again."

"Oh~ aggressive, aren’t we? I love that."

Willow looked at her flatly, then ignored her. And Moon began gossiping while eating breakfast.

...

On the first floor, in the gym, Solaris and Mars finished their breakfast quickly and started training.

There was a small changing room there, and Solaris had already left her training clothes inside the day before. So she changed quickly, while Mars only wore the spare training shoes Solaris had given him.

The first thing they did was cardio. Since it was only the first day, Solaris first wanted to know Mars’s overall physical capabilities.

She was impressed, though she’d never say it aloud.

She’d been expecting much worse.

On the treadmill, at speed 9 with 0 incline, Mars managed to last quite a while, around 34 minutes, before becoming completely exhausted.

In weightlifting, he was able to comfortably use 16 kg dumbbells but struggled around 20 kg.

At bench press, he lifted around 60 kg in total.

His legs were weaker, however, as he struggled a lot with squats and curl presses.

Solaris didn’t allow him any rest besides the 1-minute rest between each set. Nothing else. And she was strict with her instructions, going as far as taking a stick to smack Mars when a movement was wrong.

He was dying, and completely out of breath.

By the time Solaris was satisfied — meaning after 1 hour and 30 minutes — Mars was on the ground, sweating furiously, mouth wide open, trying to suck air into his lungs, eyes half closed.

Solaris didn’t train much herself because of him, but she didn’t mind. She wanted to preserve her strength for later anyway.

After all,

"Now, where are we going for the money?"

Mars took a moment to gather himself before answering. "...My old restaurant, where I was working. My boss. He owes me money."

Solaris frowned. "How much?"

"2,300 euros."

"That’s not much, fool."

"For our current situation? It is." Mars pulled himself up, his whole body sore, sitting cross-legged. He stretched his hand to the left, took the bottle of water beside him, and drank a mouthful, water slipping down his lips.

Solaris watched intensely.

Once he was done, he sighed in relief and continued, wiping the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, "But we’re not going to take only that amount."

Solaris suddenly smiled. "We’re robbing him, then."

"Robbing? Hell no, Solaris." Mars shook his head in mock disbelief. "We’re simply going to ask, gently, for some more money. Ask, Solaris! We’re asking!"

"By beating him, I bet?"

"No one said we can’t ask without beating, did they?"

Solaris let out a laugh, looking like she was enjoying the situation. Mars was slowly beginning to understand his wife’s character.

"Now, to avoid any problems, I’ll need you to do something for me."

"Do what?"

"Your face," Mars said, standing up. "Hide your face, Solaris."
