Noir, who had spread his wings, stood still as he squinted at the glass sign in the booth, where several letters began to glow.

He tried to make sense of it, but he couldn’t understand a word; it was like an alien language. He looked at Arlene and asked:

"What language is that?"

Arlene walked over, passed us, and looked up at the sign. She stood there in silence for a few moments, then shook her head:

"It’s a language I don’t know."

Then she looked at the map the guild provided, and her expression grew somber as she read the contents. She said in a stammering, tense voice:

"This... this... we’re in the final boss’s chamber. How did we get here? Why is the dungeon different from the previous report?"

’What!?’ The young black dragon’s red eyes widened in surprise. Was he inside the boss’s lair? The anomaly was so massive that it had disrupted an entire dungeon, and he asked:

"So, is that little hut what’s going to get us out of here?"

"I don’t know..."

Arlene shook her head gently, not seeming entirely sure; it seemed like the first time she’d experienced something like this: a dungeon changing so much. And she added:

"Although the exit from this dungeon is in the guardhouse."

"I see..."

Noir glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, rose above the crystal water, and moved slowly across the lake. Each beat of his wings created small ripples that spread across the surface, while the crystal lotuses swayed gently.

He hadn’t stopped extending his draconic senses for a moment; he was in a place where the dungeon’s boss monster was located, and the terrain wasn’t favorable for his group.

The young black dragon continued forward. The letters on the crystal sign glowed brighter, and he could make out the structure of the place more clearly; it grew larger and larger as he approached.

Then, the crystal ripples began to spread farther and farther; Noir froze, thinking he had caused them, but they continued and became more and more prominent as the seconds passed.

Little by little, a huge shadow appeared beneath the surface and moved rapidly. The shadow was absurdly large, as if it belonged to some crystal beast of the lake.

Noir rose another meter and immediately stepped back, preparing for the confrontation.

The lake began to churn; the crystal lotuses slowly drifted away from the center. Suddenly, the lake’s surface exploded, and a gigantic head burst through the liquid crystal.

Noir was hurled backward.

The creature kept emerging: first its neck appeared, then its body. And then... Its scales were completely transparent, as if carved from the purest crystal. Streams of blue light flowed within each one.

Its body was as thick as a tower. Its head was several times larger than Noir’s. Two long, crystalline horns protruded from its forehead, and its eyes shone with an intense golden light.

The serpent slowly raised its head. Water cascaded from its scales in enormous waterfalls.

Noir was suspended in midair. His draconic senses reacted so strongly that his entire body tensed. That wasn’t just a powerful monster. It was... something completely different.

A monstrous pressure filled the area. The lake’s mana began to swirl around the creature, forming enormous luminous currents.

Noir swallowed hard.

The serpent slowly opened its eyes. Its golden pupils locked directly onto him.

’...It’s too powerful.’

For the first time since he’d entered the dungeon... the young black dragon felt no excitement—only danger, a danger so great that even his dragon instincts were screaming one thing at him.

Run!

The serpent slowly opened its mouth. A blue light began to gather between its fangs.

Noir’s eyes widened.

"...I think it doesn’t like me."

The serpent opened its mouth. An enormous amount of mana began to gather.

Noir didn’t wait to see what would happen; he spun in midair and, without a second thought, activated the [Shadow Movement] Skill. His body vanished.

FWOOSH!

A stream of blue energy swept through the spot where he had been standing; the attack struck a glass wall.

BOOOOOOM!

The entire room shook as shards of glass flew off in all directions at a terrifying speed, leaving marks on the floor and on the "Sky."

Noir reappeared in Uki’s shadow; thank goodness he’d reacted quickly; otherwise, his body would have been seriously injured if that attack had hit him.

It definitely would have hurt a lot.

The snake slowly turned its head; the young black dragon was exactly where it had expected him to be—it had tracked his movements with relative ease.

Noir felt a chill run through his scales, and a grim smile spread across his lips.

Uki shot out from the shore and activated his racial abilities. His body grew as his muscles tensed, and a layer of white energy covered his paws.

"Uki, don’t get too close!" Noir shouted, but it was already too late.

The wolf leaped like a white projectile at full speed, baring his fangs, which were covered in white energy.

The snake made a swift move, and its crystalline tail shot out of the water and struck.

CRASH!

Uki was struck midair. His body was sent flying several meters.

Noir descended immediately. The wolf landed on all fours, skidding across the crystalline surface. He shook his head, dazed.

The snake attacked again. Its enormous body slithered across the lake.

Magic circles appeared around Arlene, who, from the moment the crystal monster appeared, had already prepared several spells. Green flowers sprouted from them, and she chanted:

"Rain of Petals!"

Hundreds of petals shot out like arrows.

FWOOSH! FWOOSH! FWOOSH!

The snake raised part of its body, and the petals struck its scales, producing loud sounds that echoed throughout the area.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

The petals didn’t even scratch the giant snake, which only seemed more irritated and angry at Arlene’s attack.

Noir opened his eyes before letting out a sigh.

’They don’t even hurt it.’

The snake lunged at Arlene.

Noir reacted, extending a claw as he began to recall the basic spell formulas Amanises had taught him, and a magic circle formed by runes appeared; he chanted the spell, fighting against his nature.

"Fire Arrow!"

A gigantic arrow shot out of the magic circle, creating friction and seeming to distort the space around it as it struck the crystal serpent.

BOOM!

A huge cloud of smoke billowed out; amid the smoke, you could see the boss monster’s gleaming crystal eyes and the mana gathering toward its mouth, exerting immense pressure on everything.
