I'm Not Your Husband, You Evil Dragon!

Chapter 265: The Human Who Shouldn’t Be Her Mate

Erza’s smile widened slightly as her violet eyes remained turned toward the distant ocean. Although the Agency headquarters was buried deep underground, the layers of concrete and earth meant nothing to her senses. She could already feel countless presences moving through the sea, along with something enormous swimming among them.

"Yes. I found something worth killing."

Sister Mary’s expression became more serious when she noticed the excitement appearing in Erza’s eyes.

"Worth killing, my Queen?"

"Yes. There aren’t merely a few demons approaching this country. I can sense thousands of demons and monsters moving together across the ocean." Erza remained focused on the distant presences for several more seconds before judging their speed.

"At their current pace, they should reach Libeus sometime tonight."

Sara’s expression immediately changed. Unlike Erza, who seemed more interested than concerned, Sara understood what thousands of demons reaching the country could mean for the cities near the coast.

"By tonight? Then we don’t have much time, my Queen. We need to prepare the Agency before they arrive."

Erza finally withdrew her senses and turned toward Sara. Her earlier curiosity had disappeared beneath the authority of a ruler who had commanded wars long before anyone inside this Agency had been born.

"Call everyone. Gather every available combat unit and tell all of your captains to report immediately. I will personally lead this attack, so I want everyone prepared before those creatures reach the country."

"Understood, Your Majesty."

Sara and Sister Mary both lowered their heads before leaving the command room.

The moment the doors closed behind them, Sara pulled out her communication device and began walking quickly through the corridor while switching directly to the Agency’s emergency channel.

"Attention to all active units. Captains of every division are to report to the war hall immediately. All combat personnel are to remain on standby until further orders are given. Current threat classification is City Level, and every available captain is required for the emergency briefing."

Her voice echoed from communication devices throughout the headquarters as agents began receiving the order.

"I repeat, City Level threat. All captains are to gather in the war hall immediately. Further information will be provided during the briefing. Over and out."

Sara lowered the device but didn’t slow down.

Her footsteps became faster instead as she began thinking about everything that needed to be done before nightfall. Equipment had to be prepared, captains needed to organize their units, and she still had no idea whether the approaching demons were connected to what Dr. Jenny had discovered earlier.

Sister Mary followed behind her for several moments before Sara’s increasing pace finally became irritating.

"Sara, wait. Can’t you walk normally? Why are you suddenly in such a hurry?"

Sara glanced back but continued moving.

"Because you aren’t aware of what happened recently, Saint. The Agency may already be exposed, and some of our information could have been leaked."

That immediately caught Sister Mary’s attention.

"What do you mean?"

"The demon we captured wasn’t using his real body. Dr. Jenny examined the corpse and discovered that it was some kind of copied body or clone." Sara’s expression darkened as she remembered the report. "We brought that clone directly inside the Agency. It saw our headquarters, our personnel and possibly far more than we realize."

Sister Mary’s expression became more serious as she listened.

Sara continued before she could respond.

"Now thousands of demons suddenly appear and start approaching Libeus. What else am I supposed to think? If that clone transferred what it saw back to its original body, then our location and information could already be in their hands. This army might be coming here specifically to destroy us."

Sister Mary stared at Sara for several seconds before giving a tired sigh.

"Sara, are you thinking properly right now?"

Sara finally slowed and looked at her.

"What do you mean?"

"I’m saying you need to calm down. You’re already deciding that thousands of demons are coming specifically for this Agency when we don’t even know that yet."

Sara frowned, but Sister Mary continued in the same relaxed tone.

"And even if you’re right, why are you behaving as though we’re completely helpless? Did you already forget who’s sitting inside that command room?"

Sara’s expression shifted slightly.

Sister Mary gestured casually behind them.

"The Queen of Atlantis is here. Her Highness sensed their entire army before they even came close to the country. She found thousands of demons, estimated when they would arrive and even discovered their strongest creature within seconds."

Sara didn’t immediately respond.

Sister Mary continued walking, her voice remaining surprisingly calm for someone who had just learned that thousands of demons were approaching.

"If they’re actually foolish enough to attack this Agency while Her Highness is here, then let them come. I don’t think there’s anyone among them capable of threatening her."

Sara’s earlier pace gradually slowed as she considered those words. Sister Mary wasn’t telling her to ignore the threat or abandon preparation; she simply wasn’t treating the approaching army as though humanity had already lost.

And when Sara thought about what had just happened inside the command room, she couldn’t completely disagree.

Erza had discovered the approaching army without leaving her chair. She had identified its numbers, detected the strongest presence hidden among them and estimated their arrival with enough accuracy to give the Agency nearly fourteen hours to prepare.

And it was still morning.

They had nearly fourteen hours before the enemy reached the country. Sara finally released the breath she had unknowingly been holding, allowing some of the tension in her shoulders to disappear. Instead of continuing to rush through the corridor, she shortened her steps until her pace matched Sister Mary’s.

"Fine. Maybe I’m thinking too much."

For the next several minutes, the two women continued toward the war hall at a much calmer pace. Sara remained quiet, using the time to settle her thoughts and organize everything inside her head before meeting the captains. There were too many problems demanding her attention at once, and panicking over all of them wasn’t going to make the coming battle any easier.

Still, there was one thought she couldn’t completely silence.

Allen.

Sara remembered their battle far too clearly. For centuries, she had comforted herself with the belief that her defeat hadn’t necessarily meant Allen was overwhelmingly stronger than her. The sun had weakened her, the situation had been against her, and some stubborn part of Sara had always believed that under the right circumstances, she could have defeated him.

What Her Majesty had revealed today had damaged that confidence.

Allen wasn’t merely some unusually powerful demon. He was a Nefraion, a descendant of the sacred demonic bloodline that had once served Zareth, the God of Shadows. Worse, according to Her Majesty, Allen hadn’t even completed the awakening that would grant him his true title.

That meant the monster Sara remembered might not have reached his true potential.

The realization frightened her more than she wanted to admit. If Allen completed his awakening before they could stop him, Sara couldn’t imagine what kind of creature he would become. However, there was at least one reassuring thought among all that uncertainty.

Her Majesty would be leading the battle.

Whatever Allen eventually became, having the Queen of Atlantis personally involved gave Sara far more confidence than she would ever admit aloud. After learning what Allen truly was, Sara understood that defeating him might have always been beyond her ability, but the same couldn’t necessarily be said for Erza.

Sara released another tired sigh as they continued down the corridor, causing Sister Mary to glance sideways at her.

"You look exhausted."

"Of course I’m exhausted." Sara gave her an irritated look.

"I woke up worrying about demons, discovered that the Agency might be exposed, found out the Demon King is a Nefraion, learned that thousands of monsters are approaching the country, and somewhere between all of that, I nearly watched my entire Agency get sold."

Sister Mary couldn’t stop a small laugh from escaping.

"I’ll admit, that last part was unexpected."

"Unexpected?" Sara looked at her helplessly. "Saint, Her Majesty genuinely seemed prepared to sell everything. I know she had her reasons, but do you have any idea what was going through my mind when I realized the Agency I’ve spent centuries building might disappear today?"

Sister Mary laughed a little more at Sara’s exhausted expression.

"I know. You looked terrified."

"I was terrified. I couldn’t exactly tell Her Majesty no."

Sara sighed again, but Sister Mary’s amusement gradually faded as another thought returned to her. She remembered Erza’s expression from earlier, particularly the unusual heaviness hidden beneath the Queen’s otherwise commanding presence.

"Still... don’t you think something was wrong with Her Highness?"

Sara turned toward her.

"What do you mean?"

"She seemed sad."

Sara’s expression became slightly more serious.

"Sad? Her Majesty?"

"Yes. Disturbed, perhaps, or carrying some kind of sorrow." Sister Mary’s expression became thoughtful as she remembered Erza’s behavior.

"I’ve seen something similar with Yuuta. Whenever that boy becomes deeply upset, he starts making foolish decisions while pretending everything is perfectly fine. Sometimes he’ll distract himself with something completely unrelated simply because he doesn’t want to think about whatever is actually hurting him."

Sara listened carefully while Sister Mary continued.

"Her Highness reminded me of him today. She was speaking normally and maintaining her usual authority, but something about her felt different. It was almost as though she was deeply upset and trying very hard not to show it."

Sara’s footsteps slowed slightly as she thought back to everything she had noticed inside the command room. There had been something unusual about Erza from the beginning, but Sara had been far too frightened and overwhelmed by everything happening around her to pay much attention to it.

"Now that you mention it... I did notice something."

Sister Mary looked toward her.

"What?"

Sara hesitated briefly before answering.

"I thought I saw a tear in Her Majesty’s eye earlier."

Sister Mary’s expression immediately changed.

"A tear?"

"Yes. It was only there for a moment, and it was so small that I thought perhaps I had imagined it. Her Majesty didn’t say anything about it either, so I didn’t think it would be appropriate for me to ask."

Sister Mary became quiet after hearing that. If Sara had truly seen Erza crying, then the strange feeling she had noticed earlier hadn’t been her imagination. Something had happened before the Queen arrived at the Agency, and judging by her behavior, whatever it was still weighed heavily on her.

"I see..."

Sara watched Sister Mary’s thoughtful expression for a few moments before another question suddenly returned to her mind. It was something she had wanted to ask ever since the conversation inside the command room had taken such a strange turn.

"Actually, Saint, there’s something else I need you to explain."

Sister Mary looked toward her curiously.

"First, tell me who the hell Yuuta is."

Sister Mary blinked at the sudden question, while Sara lowered her voice as they continued toward the war hall.

"I’ve heard his name repeatedly since Her Majesty arrived. Her Majesty was prepared to sell my entire Agency and transfer the money into his account, you called him your prince, and from everything I’ve heard, this Yuuta is apparently human."

Sara paused briefly, still finding the most important part difficult to understand.

"But somehow, he’s also Her Majesty’s husband."

Her curiosity was obvious now. Sara wasn’t questioning Erza’s decision or speaking disrespectfully about her Queen; she simply couldn’t understand how something that seemed so impossible had happened without her ever hearing about it.

"So who exactly is Yuuta...?"

Sister Mary became quiet.

She had expected Sara to become curious sooner or later after hearing Yuuta’s name repeatedly, but something about the seriousness in Sara’s voice told her this wasn’t merely idle curiosity.

Sara wasn’t finished.

"And why did Her Majesty call that human her husband?"

This time, Sister Mary’s expression changed completely. Sara noticed the hesitation immediately, and instead of satisfying her curiosity, it only made the question inside her mind grow larger.

Sister Mary finally sighed.

"Because he is her husband, Sara. You heard correctly. Yuuta is human, and Her Highness considers him her husband."

Sara stared at her.

"That’s exactly what I’m saying. How is that possible? More importantly, how did they have a child together?"

Sister Mary gave her a complicated look.

"I know. I was shocked too when I first learned about it."

"Then you understand why I’m asking."

Sara’s expression had lost any trace of amusement. She wasn’t questioning Erza’s choice of husband. Her confusion came from something much more fundamental.

"You know how dragons work, Saint. They aren’t like humans or us. Dragons don’t naturally seek companionship the way humans do. Many of them remain alone for centuries without caring about finding a mate, and Queens are even more extreme. Some won’t consider having a child until they’re ready to continue their bloodline."

Sister Mary nodded slightly.

"I’m aware."

"Then you also know what happens when someone tries to become intimate with a female dragon."

Sara lowered her voice as several agents passed them in the corridor.

"The female has to willingly accept him first. If she doesn’t, her body rejects the contact on its own. The magical defenses surrounding a dragon aren’t something she needs to consciously activate every time. Someone foolish enough to force himself on her could be torn apart before he even understood what was happening."

Sara paused for a moment before continuing.

"But her permission doesn’t make the danger disappear."

Sister Mary’s expression became more serious because she knew exactly what Sara meant.

"The male still needs enough strength to withstand the female’s body and power. Even when she willingly accepts him, one mistake can cause permanent damage. That’s why simply being attracted to a female dragon isn’t enough. Her mate needs to be physically and magically capable of surviving intimacy with her."

Sara looked directly at Sister Mary.

"And that’s between dragons."

Her voice became heavier.

"Now we’re talking about Her Majesty."

That was where the entire situation stopped making sense to Sara.

Erza wasn’t merely another powerful female dragon. Her strength stood so far beyond ordinary dragons that Sara couldn’t comfortably measure the difference. The pressure Erza released without trying was enough to remind Sara exactly what kind of being stood above them.

"Her Majesty’s power is approaching the level of a goddess. Even among dragons, there shouldn’t be many males capable of becoming her mate safely. Her body would naturally possess defenses corresponding to that level of strength."

Sara shook her head slowly.

"Yet Yuuta is human."

She wasn’t insulting him. It was simply the biological reality as Sara understood it.

Compared with dragons, humans occupied the lowest possible position in this particular system. The difference wasn’t like comparing a weak dragon with a powerful one. To Sara, it was closer to imagining an ant somehow approaching an elephant and surviving beneath its weight.

"And somehow they have child," Sara continued. "That means Yuuta didn’t merely get close to Her Majesty. He actually survived becoming her mate long enough for them to have a child together."

Sister Mary remained silent.

Sara’s confusion only deepened.

"But even before reaching that problem, there’s something else that shouldn’t make sense."

Sister Mary looked at her.

"What?"

"That human shouldn’t have desired her in the first place."

Sister Mary raised an eyebrow, but Sara continued before the sentence could be misunderstood.

"I’m not talking about Her Majesty’s appearance. Her beauty isn’t in question. I’m talking about the instinctive boundary between species."

Sara searched for the simplest way to explain it.

"A human can look at something vastly beyond himself and find it beautiful without seeing it as a possible mate. A man can stand beside the ocean and admire a whale, but his mind doesn’t interpret that admiration the same way it interprets attraction toward another human. Somewhere inside him, his instincts understand that they’re fundamentally different creatures."

Dragons created an even stronger boundary because their overwhelming aura added fear to that difference.

"A normal human standing before a dragon can admire its beauty, but his body also understands the danger. Fear should come first. With an ancient dragon, that instinct becomes even stronger, and with Her Majesty..."

Sara didn’t need to finish that comparison. She had personally experienced Erza’s presence, and even powerful supernatural beings instinctively became cautious around her. For an ordinary human, the difference should have been overwhelming.

"That’s why I don’t understand either side of this, Saint. Dragons rarely desire companionship in the first place, Her Majesty’s body should be far too powerful for an ordinary human to withstand, and Yuuta’s own instincts should have warned him against becoming that intimate with something so far beyond his species."

Sara looked directly at Sister Mary, her expression now carrying genuine confusion rather than disbelief.

"Yet somehow all three impossible things happened."

Her Majesty had accepted him.

Yuuta had desired her.

And his human body had survived her.

Sara remained silent for a moment before finally asking the question that had been troubling her ever since she understood Elena was their biological daughter.

"So how did Yuuta do it?"

Sister Mary didn’t answer immediately. Her expression became thoughtful as she considered the same question, because despite knowing Yuuta for most of his life, even she couldn’t completely explain what had happened between him and Erza that night.

"I don’t know."

Sara blinked, clearly not expecting that answer.

Sister Mary gave a small sigh before continuing.

"Believe me, Sara, I’ve wondered about the same thing. When I first discovered that Elena was Yuuta’s daughter, I had exactly the same doubts you’re having now. I know enough about dragons to understand how unlikely it should have been, especially with someone as powerful as Her Highness."

Sara frowned slightly.

"Then you don’t know how he survived?"

"No. I wasn’t there when it happened, so I won’t pretend I know exactly what occurred between them." Sister Mary paused before adding, "But I’ve seen Elena with my own eyes. There is no doubt about who her parents are, so whatever should have been impossible clearly happened."

Sara remained quiet as she considered that answer.

Sister Mary’s expression then changed slightly.

"But there’s one thing you’re wrong about."

Sara looked toward her.

"You keep talking about Yuuta as though he’s an ordinary, fragile human."

Sister Mary’s voice remained calm, but there was certainty behind it now.

"He isn’t."

Sara’s eyebrows rose.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean Yuuta isn’t as weak as you think he is. He may have lived as an ordinary human for most of his life, and even Yuuta himself doesn’t completely understand what he is capable of yet, but I’ve watched that boy survive things that should have killed him."

Memories of Yuuta’s nightmares briefly passed through Sister Mary’s mind—the bleeding eyes, the black aura, the seals hidden inside him and the impossible things she had witnessed whenever his life was pushed too far.

She didn’t reveal any of that to Sara yet.

Instead, Sister Mary looked ahead toward the distant doors of the war hall.

"So I can’t tell you exactly how Yuuta survived Her Highness that night."

A faint, complicated smile appeared on Sister Mary’s face.

"But if you’re asking whether Yuuta is really just some weak human who somehow got impossibly lucky..."

She slowly shook her head.

"No. That much I stopped believing a long time ago."

Sara remained thoughtful, but before she could ask anything else, Sister Mary continued.

"And furthermore, don’t mistake Yuuta for a human who originated from this small planet."

Sara’s attention immediately returned to her.

"What do you mean?"

Sister Mary’s expression carried a quiet sense of pride now.

"Yuuta is from Nova."

Sara’s footsteps slowed.

"A human from Nova?"

The answer only created another question. Humanity existed in many forms across different worlds, so Yuuta originating from Nova could certainly explain why Sister Mary didn’t consider him an ordinary Earth human. However, something about the way she had spoken suggested there was more to it.

Sister Mary shook her head.

"No."

Sister Mary’s answer came immediately.

Sara’s brows slowly drew together.

"...Then what is he?"

For the first time since their conversation began, Sister Mary’s expression changed.

Something unexpectedly warm entered her eyes.

Almost like pride.

She looked toward Sara and quietly answered,

"He’s my prince."

Sara went completely still.

"...What?"
