My stats did not change much, given that only about three weeks had gone by since I gained a Class.
Still, it was nice to see <Perfect Estimate> neatly slotted in, awaiting its use.
The final room of the legacy chamber had lost all signs of activity. The runes, the concentric circles, and the sigils had faded, looking aged and worn.
As if centuries had gone by in an instant.
"Perhaps I can make use of this place..."
Mumbling these words, I looked around the long legacy chamber.
Suddenly inspired, one of the magic spells I had engraved into my heart bloomed with a beautiful blue glow. <Manakinesis> commanded the surrounding mana, pouring into the legacy chamber and imbuing it with a few simple enchantments.
"This is a gift for you, old schemer."
<Perfect Estimate> had acted upon the vast storage of spell knowledge that I stole from Daimyuon, allowing me to program a nifty enchantment for the sake of a certain someone...
***
Vastha von Vielour, the ancestor of the Vielour Family.
A Draconic Serpent at the end of her lifespan.
Having metamorphosed from a mere Snakespawn, she had reached a ceiling she could not cross.
Thus, she instead joined the great Game of Walvaskaz as a player.
Just moments ago, she was deep in slumber. A moment that could catch her eye had finally occurred after decades of silence.
A descendant had come across one of the clan’s descendants.
"Hmm,"
Vastha’s long, serpentine body, rigid with draconic scales and burning with acidic fire, tightened its grip around the Mage Tower she slept around.
Despite her great strength, the Mage Tower did not even tremble.
"Was it Bhulmasine’s family line? Hm,"
A blood-red light flashed as Vastha located Clementine through their familial connection. Soon, she spotted a young Snakespawn excitedly cooking up some medicine for the opening of her shop the next day.
This put a smile on Vastha’s face.
Indeed, she was once an apothecary as well.
"Alas..."
Now that she could no longer attain even greater heights, she was stuck playing the Game of Walvaskaz, in hopes of earning a singular wish from the Primordial Dragon Empress.
Perhaps that was the only way she could refine her bloodline further.
—Hiss!
Hundreds of snakes surfaced from inside the Mage Tower, writhing in surprise.
"Boss! You’re awake!"
"Boss! Help!"
"Boss, oh my gods, Boss!"
The snakes all spoke in the Walvaskaz tongue, hissing with mana to form the syllables.
A rancor of scrambling Serpent Sorcerers flooded Vastha’s ears.
’...This is why I don’t like waking up.’ She sighed.
All of these snakes were new faces to her. The ones she last talked to in person had perished long ago.
Were these their great-grandchildren?
Vastha took a moment to count.
’Ah, just their grandchildren.’
She hadn’t slept for that long.
"What is it, my dear descendants? Has anything happened to the Serpent Sorcerer Association while I was asleep?"
"Well..."
The snakes gave Vastha the rundown of what happened.
Basically, every Serpent Sorcerer received a message through their bloodline. Its sender was... the High Snakespawn, Bhulmasine.
As for the content of said message:
["I spy with my little eye~"]
["A sleeping failure of a dragon."]
—[ WHO?! ]
Vastha’s roar boomed, shaking the world around her and sending cracks up the Serpent Sorcerer Association’s Mage Tower.
Rage filled her heart.
To be called a failure of a dragon—!
This was her greatest shame.
***
Listening to Vastha’s rage-filled roars, it seemed like I had a penchant for angering dragon-wannabes. First it was the <Wyrm With No Name>, and now it was Vastha.
I was genuinely amused.
The enchantments I had made on the fly were indeed useful—albeit the most I could do was send a message.
Bloodline curses were most certainly beyond my strength. Furthermore, Bhulmasine’s remnant blood had fully evaporated after this prank I played.
Which was good.
After all, if it continued to exist... Ah, the Draconic Serpent would melt me down to atoms.
Thus, I began my short trip back to the surface, satisfied with my haul. As I ascended the layers beneath Grakkis, I thought about the other seven Colored Eyes of Bhulmasine.
I needed to find all of them as soon as I could. Luckily, after fully absorbing the <Blue Eye of Bhulmasine>, I had an edge when it came to finding the others.
Looking for them wouldn’t be so hard.
Getting them would be the problem, as every legacy chamber had a lock related to <Fate>.
It was clearly Vastha’s doing, as she was the only one strong enough to manipulate a strand of <Fate> in the Vielour Family’s history. None of her descendants had come close to rivalling her valor.
As for my current abilities as a Mage...
"Well, it seems like my progress is plateauing."
The rapid growth in Spirit I had always experienced was because of the sheer expenditure of my Gift.
Now that I used Manakinesis to supplement its use to maintain a certain mana level for emergencies—and also because it was the only way to shut the <Wyrm With No Name> up by draining the worm of all his mana—I wasn’t progressing as fast as I usually did.
Added to the fact that my Spirit was already at a whopping 62 points, it was bound to have slowed down.
"I’ll have to grab those <Traits> I missed on the way to Walvaskaz."
At least, now that he was a Third Circle Mage and a resident of Grakkis, it was a lot easier to move around.
All he needed...
Was the classic Adventurer’s Emblem to work for the Adventurer’s Guild.
"I can’t wait!"
It was time to become an adventurer and face all sorts of dangers! Just like that group who accompanied me here to Walvaskaz, Heaven’s Grasp.
"What kind of name should I use?"
Mumbling fantasies to myself, I ignored the weird looks I got from the bustling myriad races and returned to my personal mage tower.
