In Another World with Absolute Awareness
Chapter 48: Ever-Chaotic World - VRescuing the lost baby drakon was easy because of [Absolute Awareness]. Getting there, however, was a little harder.
The abandoned storefront was located near a chaotic area for aquatic races.
...This meant that I had to move underwater.
Luckily, I had the <Trait>, <Power of the Sea>. Water-breathing and water manipulation allowed me to navigate the place as soon as I arrived.
The aquatic area was blanketed by a special magic zone, creating pillars and flying tunnels of water. Spherical pools floated in the air, containing parks for aquatic races to relax in.
A deep pool loomed beneath my feet, with only a few thin bridges for those land-dwelling creatures.
Several water currents were guiding a bunch of turtle-pulled water carriages through different highways.
Seeing it with my own eyes was as beautiful as sensing its profundities with my gift.
<Power of the Sea>.
An ethereal azure haze surged through my blood vessels as I leapt into the beautiful waters polluted with endless light.
"Wow,"
Suffice to say, it felt as liberating as flying through the air. The freedom allowed by three-dimensional movement put my heart at ecstatic ease.
I felt free.
"Ah, how wondrous."
A moan escaped my lips at the pleasure of such freedom. The cool embrace of the waters was rejuvenating beyond belief.
I always enjoyed a good swim.
—Fwooosh!
After a moment of sublime respite, I willed the waters to propel me forward. I shot out like a torpedo, swiftly navigating that one storefront in my mind.
Past columns of dense, high-pressure water and around rapid water current highways, I moved past the houses floating in a chaotic array of blocks.
Houses and buildings were tethered to these blocks, drifting peacefully with every ripple.
When I passed by, they would inch a bit further before returning to where they were, like kelp dancing with the waves.
In a way, it was a dizzying part of the city that extended in all three dimensions, sometimes making it difficult to determine up or down.
It only got worse when I neared the slums.
The water grew murkier, and its consistency shifted. The disgusting smell of rot and decay wafted about, gradually growing stronger the closer I got.
The buildings here were no longer anchored to different blocks. Instead, they were a moving mess, completely at the mercy of the currents.
It was honestly no wonder that someone lost a pet here.
The chaos was damning.
[Absolute Awareness].
[Perfect Estimate].
A few points of mana helped me determine the current location of the abandoned storefront. I updated my information with its current velocity, as well as any possible influences that could redirect its current trajectory.
After confirming where it would be by the time I arrived, I moved.
All while keeping a close eye on a few individuals who were tracking me with their abilities.
Peering into their intentions, I realized that there were at least three different groups manipulating things.
One seemed to be a few hired helpers affiliated with the person who issued this quest. The exhaustion in their bodies was quite apparent, having searched high and low for several days already.
Another group seemed to be the client’s rivals. At least, they were from a Merfolk Clan that opposed them.
"Ah, so my employer is a Mermaid."
From their surface-level thoughts, I gleaned what the quest had not mentioned. The name of my employer was apparently Cilliade Silo of some noble family of the Golden Seas.
Their rivals wanted the baby drakon dead to weaken Cilliade as much as possible before some upcoming exam.
Apparently, I got caught up in an Academy arc, somehow. This Cilliade was contending for the top three spots in the rankings, and the Silo family’s heir wanted her spot.
Well...
"I guess I just need to find the drakon..."
While evading these pestilent gazes.
The last group was a lot more malicious... though that made them more interesting as well.
After all, even Kuvie was there—a familiar face in an unfamiliar setting. Suddenly, I understood what she was hiding so deeply that it would’ve taken me so much of my mana to uncover.
"Ahaha~"
With a laugh, I drained my Mana Cores of half of their contents.
[Absolute Awareness].
Scanning their consciousnesses and examining their past, I watched as thousands of images surfaced and sank in the sea of my consciousness.
In my haste, I barely understood who they were.
’Plotting against the <Primordial Dragon Empress> is definitely gutsy of them.’
It was this group of people I needed to avoid.
Therefore—
<Power of Death>.
With a little misdirection and the chaos around me, I vanished.

Kuvie had been given a task despite the mission she already had to worry about.
"Damn it, why now of all times?"
Sending a message through the Blood Seed in her heart always tampered with the <Concealment> she worked so hard to maintain. Now that there was a gap, she was bound to expose more flaws than usual.
A detrimental state to be in while working with her friend, Clementine.
If her friends were targeted—which they most certainly would be—then her secret identities would also risk the chance of discovery. Once that happens, all three of them would be doomed.
Thus, she needed to find that baby drakon before anyone else could. As fast as possible.
That was why she was scrambling at the moment.
—[Sir, we lost our target!]
Kuvie, who was currently transformed into a Mermaid using her nature magic, hurriedly reported. The young man who had accepted Cilliade’s request had somehow eluded her [Life Sensing] spell.
He had vanished as if...
’...As if he were dead!’
But that wasn’t possible.
Kuvie rationalized that absurdity in an instant. It was highly likely that the young man had some magic spell that could render him unseen and untraceable via lifeforce.
Or...
’Did he teleport away? But to where?’
As far as she knew, the baby drakon was around this area. She had been the one to discover a few scraped scales, thus leading them to this general location.
All that was left was to narrow down their scope while keeping track of which buildings floated out of her range.
—[Maintain your position. Given his earlier behavior, he must’ve found something. His movements were in no way aimless. We will find him the moment he makes a move.]
