*Anos's POV*
'Okay, time to be quiet.'
It was late into the night, thankfully a moonless night as I stepped outside from the gate of the Common Room with all it's warmth and comfort into the dark and stuffed Great Hall.
For this, I needed to be quick and the Great Hall would cut my time outside past curfew by more than half. Unlike the Slytherin dunderheads who were caught almost regularly, snooping about the castle at night but without the brains to do anything except take pleasure strolls.
The Common Room upon wish could be entered from both the Great Hall and from two other gates in my observation, and well they did say that Magic was a road capable of being traveled both ways.
And so I exited from the door behind the Great Hall which would serve best for this excursion.
I crept slowly from behind the table where the Professors sat, walked past the tables for the students and looked at the gate, in all its Titanic form, though everything appeared larger when you have a smaller body.
'Damnit, it's closed.' I cursed.
The door being Giant also meant that it was heavy; it would make enough sound to wake every ghoul in a Crypt if I opened it.
'Can't go from here.' I said before tracing my path back to behind the Teacher's table and sighing in relief that the postern gate there wasn't locked.
The gate showed no signs of any Magic, jinx or even enchantment on it. None at all.
Even then I looked at it with focus, the goblets and plates in the great hall turned blue in my vision, the roof turned into a light blue sky, even the torches turned blue, but the gate was normal, still colored damp brown like unassuming wood.
Still I opened it gingerly and released a breath I didn't know I had been holding as my hand didn't immediately erupt in some kind of explosion.
'That would have been a dangerous spell to have around curious children, but then again with Hogwarts you never truly know. Safest place in the world my ass.'
I peeked through the half open door, looked first at the empty right doorway and then at the empty left doorway, listened hard for human sounds and found none in proximity.
I stepped out, turned back, and closed the door's upper latch.
Shuffling around in my dark robes I found a small cork, a simple tap of the index finger and a flash of light later it was a decently shaped stick.
'Hermione could have probably turned that into a perfect pencil.' I thought wryly before sticking it in between the door and making sure that it remains there, before gently closing the door's lower latch.
'Now it won't close behind my back.'
I then turned to the left and began to slowly make my way through the castle, the light of the Torches flickered all through the corridors, shining lightly on my robes and hood, all black.
Not the most extravagant clothes to sneak around in, but they did their best to hide my hair and the rest of me.
Before turning in any corridor I stopped, held my breath and listened hard for anyone approaching, each time only moving after several heartbeats.
The suits of Armor were silent observers for the entire length of the journey.
I myself ignored the paths with most portraits, while the ones I inevitably had to take had empty ones or ones that were bound, gagged, sleeping or all three at once.
So I passed in the cover of darkness right in front of them, unnoticed.
'Sir Cadogan really is great.' I thought fondly.
The Portrait of the Knight was in an infrequented part of the castle, and loved to talk and sing tall tales about himself.
Not as if I disliked talking to him, so as much as I could I talked to him, asked him stories of his time as a Knight of the Roundtable and of his deeds.
He was happy to answer and chat, positively delighted that I knew of him from books and about the time he lived in.
And thus we had become friends from mere acquaintances in a short amount of time, chattering incessantly about differences between Wyverns and Dragons, and which of the two beasts was a fiercer foe, I supported the Dragons but of course the Knight who had defeated the Wyvern of Wye was biased towards the Wyverns.
When I asked him for help in this he had simply took out his broken Blackthorn wand which he proudly announced had a core of 'Troll Whisker' and pointed at his heart.
"Now do as I do." He had said and I with some trepidation had followed in his footsteps and taken out my Wand and pointed it straight at my heart.
"In this endeavor of mine, I shall harm no fellow, human or otherwise by my own hands and by my own will." He had said and after thinking the words over I had repeated them, and after a brief golden flash over my heart everything had returned to normal.
Sir Cadogan has then immediately agreed to help me.
'I suppose he's allowed to do the violence.' I thought, trying not to chuckle as I passed portraits that were Sir Cadogan's 'Unsavory foes' as he called them, these were the ones that were gagged and bound mostly.
After a few more turns I arrived at the room and quickly slipped inside.
Thankfully the Mirror of Erised was still there, and wasting no time I took out a piece of Foolscrap and some sharpened charcoal that I kept on myself.
"Illuminare." I chanted and a small orb of white light floated in front of me, lighting the dark room.
I sat down in front of the mirror and begin writing the words down, I had remembered most of them from memory but there were some parts I wasn't sure of, and thus needed to come back here.
"Kaltek oan-gliir-che slaath-ket, dol jul-ket zul-kine." I repeated after writing them down and making an additional copy on another piece of foolscrap just to be safe.
The words were easier to speak this time, much more familiar to me and flowing easier on the tongue for reasons that I had no time to think of.
I stored the Foolscrap and the charcoal and cast away the spell as the room descended into darkness.
I stood up in a hurry, not wanting to look at the mirror or the Golden Claws at its borders.
The door suddenly creaked.
