*Anos's POV*

'And god shits in my dinner yet again.' I thought derisively as I watched my Magic Theory teacher enter the classroom.

For the most part Zephyr appeared fine.

If you just didn't notice the slight smell of blood clinging to him, the limp in his right leg, the fact that he took the classes from behind his desk and did not get up throughout it as opposed to the frequent movement from previous classes and many other things.

A small part of me wished to feel guilty about it. I had seen him in the library while being hidden behind an Invisible blanket. And I had also unfortunately seen an explosion envelop the area he had been sitting in.

'Dammit, stop thinking about it. If you had tried to help you would have given away the Invisibility Cloak and probably much more. If you wish to help then keep your mouth shut and become strong enough to take care of the no nosed tiara princess.' I chide myself as the class started.

For the most part things were the same in class except the random accessory a student or two had become particularly fond of after the Holidays and the exam stress that had already begun to dawn on Hermione.

Class passed mercifully quickly and I only had the urge to wince twice throughout all of it.

Magical Theory was a good subject, a fun one even but it was hard to focus on anything other than the smell of blood from Zephyr.

"I would give all of you some more homework regarding mana pulsating plant veins but i don't think that'll be much appreciated so soon after holidays so class ends early. If you have any questions feel free to stay back and ask." Zephyr said with a smile though I could sense he was in a bit of a hurry.

Fortunately for him the class was the first of the day and it was a Monday so no one seemed particularly inclined to ask questions except Hermione who was quickly dragged away by Alucard using only god knows what conversation as a distraction.

I moved to exit as well but was stopped with a call.

"Anos, might I have a moment to discuss something." Zephyr spoke lightly and I stilled before slowly turning around.

"Of course." I said with a light smile before walking back to his desk.

Everyone in the class had already shuffled out so we were thankfully alone.

'Ah fuck does he know somehow? No impossible. Calm down, deep breaths.'

"How are you?"

"Wait what?" I staggered.

'Shit.'

"I mean I'm fine, maybe a bit tired from the amount of last minute homework I had to do." I said jokingly.

"That is good to hear. About your health i mean not the homework part." Zephyr said ending on a stern note or at least trying to.

It was considerably harder than expected for me to take him seriously at the moment.

"Have there been any more changes you've experienced in the last few weeks? Any discomfort at all? Perhaps sharp pains of any kind?" Zephyr questioned and I made the effort to scrunch my eyebrows in concentration, to at least act like I was thinking hard on it.

"Not that I remember. I've only been feeling just healthier? No that doesn't seem right uh.... Stronger? Yes that fits. Just takes a lot more work for me to tire myself out, it's not as if I was sleeping much even before but i was always chalked that up to being a Vampyre but even that has lessened more and it's....it's a bit hard to feel cold. I can *almost* feel it but it just feels a bit more less like itself now. I'm sorry it's a bit hard to explain." I said ending frantically.

"No, it's quite alright. Can you show me your wrist for a moment. Left hand." He asked and I nodded.

Curling back my robe I put my hand forward before Zephyr gently tapped a seemingly normal rock sitting on his desk which promptly lit up with gentle golden light.

'I should probably get one of those.' I thought wryly.

"Your veins aren't visible. Is that normal?" Zephyr asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Hmm? Ah yes they usually aren't though they are assuredly there." I replied not telling how I knew.

It would be better to not have to describe that I had tried quite a few spells to make my room into what was essentially a sensory deprivation chamber at times, though it was usually only one or maybe two I took away and practiced how I fared without them.

"Can you point me to one of them?" Zephyr asked and I simply tapped with my index finger near my wrist.

Zephyr pressed two of his fingers onto the spot and closed his eyes as if listening.

'Huh, his hand is surprisingly cold.'

"Well everything's about as fine as I could have expected or have hoped." Zephyr said before tapping the stone once again so it turned back into it's unremarkable and non illuminating self.

"Which means?" I asked with a tinge of wariness.

"Nothing much. It seems you've taken well to the Dragon's heart. A bit too well if I may. There's nothing wrong with you but if you ever feel your heartbeat is a bit too strong or for some reason erratic ignore it. We will have to wait a couple of years to understand it to even be able to attempt anything to fix it." Professor Zephyr said with a light voice and I mulled over the words in my head.

"Alright." I said with a nod.

Professor Zephyr seemed a bit taken aback by that and I had to hide a smile.

"If there's anything you wish to ask?" Zephyr said with a gentle smile.

"Were you ever a healer, Professor?" I asked quietly.

A sad smile graced Zephyr's features before he nodded.

"A long time ago, yes." He said, a brief look of sadness covering his features.

"You're good at it." I said smiling.

"Magic is a road capable of being traveled both ways, sometimes we travel them simultaneously." Zephyr said with a smile of his own.

"Now go on, I'm sure Professor Quirell will be quite put off if his best student didn't make it to his class on time." He continued before I could ask what he meant.

"Thank you for your time, Professor." I said and then walked out.
