The haze cast by the explosion began to clear slowly.
All eyes were on the place where they had fired their torpedoes.
It felt like their eyes were glued to the area by some divine power.
The students were just that curious about whatever lay beyond their sight, yet had made Silas prompt all of them to fire their torpedoes.
In his compartment, Silas's eyes were fixed on the place where all the torpedoes had been fired, the place that held the void venerate.
"What is going on?" Sylvester asked, eyes still glued to the venerate's position.
"What do you think?" Silas asked, ignoring Sylvester and turning towards Asher.
Asher furrowed his brows.
He did not reply to Silas immediately.
After a few seconds, he spoke.
His tone was grim and fearful.
"Call Lord Levi."
Silas's eyes widened as he finally grasped the situation they were in.
"Rion, can you call Lord Levi?" Silas asked quickly.
"The network has been jammed by the tide. It has even caused a temporary suspension from the Nexus Dimension in this star area."
Silas shook his head in horror.
That was when the void venerate finally appeared, walking through the void as though it were tiles.
It was a towering being that was at least a thousand meters tall.
Thousands of holes riddled the being's frame.
Although the holes did not close, it was obvious that they could not hold the venerate back either.
The students finally saw the thing they were dealing with.
Their only response to it was fear and numbness.
"Asher, what do we do?" Silas asked, abandoning the controller completely.
He stood in front of Asher, shaking him heavily as if he wanted the answers to bounce out of his stomach.
Asher spread his palms.
"There's nothing I know of; we could have escaped earlier, to a far away planet not under the tide's radius, but now, we are hopeless."
"Think, think, Silas," Silas yelled, slapping his head as hard as he could.
Sylvester, who had heard both of them, finally snapped.
"What do you mean hopeless?" He yelled, about to open the compartment's door.
Silas pulled him back quickly, pushing him into one corner before he could say anything else.
Silas looked into Asher's eyes.
Asher did not need many words after that.
His palm struck hard against Sylvester's nape.
Sylvester's eyes went blank, his body falling unconscious.
Silas did not bat an eye at this.
"That's it," he yelled.
Asher frowned as he stared at Silas.
But he did not say a thing.
The void venerate had reached the barrier, fists hammering against it like a hammer.
The first hit sent a ripple that not only travelled through space, but was able to shake the weapon.
"What is this?" Amelia asked Billie.
Billie did not reply.
But beneath the calm facade lay an almost broken mind.
'Would I be dying here?' Billie wondered as she shot the void venerate another glance.
It was already preparing for another collision.
Boom.
The tremor this time was far greater, sweeping through the entire void like a massive torrent.
Their already wrecked spaceship was caught within the ripple.
Without so much as a resistance, the ship was torn apart, reduced to mere cosmic debris.
The void venerate seemed to gain a new sense of accomplishment seeing the destroyed spaceship.
It began to pound its fists into the barrier, delivering hundreds of punches within a second.
Its size seemed to have no effect on its speed.
Swoosh.
All the railguns fired at the same time, everything targeting one point — the venerate's hands.
The beast looked away from the barrier, then focused its gaze on the weapon.
The intent made it seem like the weapon and the venerate were mortal enemies meeting for a final standoff.
But it was not only the void venerate that was surprised.
The students looked on with wide eyes.
How had their railguns fired when they had not controlled them?
In his compartment, Silas heaved a huge sigh of relief seeing his plan had worked.
He had fused Marcel's soul with the entire weapon.
This way, the entire weapon could be more precisely controlled.
Asher looked at Silas, brows arced slightly.
He was not sure if he had seen right.
"Is that the power of soul you are using?"
Asher stuttered as he spoke.
'It is ridiculous, what am I even thinking?' He wondered.
Without looking away from the venerate, Silas nodded.
"It is regenerating from the railgun's wounds, but not from the torpedoes," Silas muttered.
He did not give Asher time to speak.
"At least, at this rate, there is a chance that we can hold it back till Levi gets here."
That was the only conclusion Silas could come to.
The venerate's arms regrew, already in motion towards the barrier.
Again, millions of streaks flew through the air, straight towards the arm.
The arm exploded, sending dark, fabric-like flesh through the void.
While the void venerate recovered from the blown arm, Silas's clone spoke.
"The weapon is being controlled by my main body, you can rest assured."
"How is he controlling it by himself?" Hope muttered beneath her breath, seeing another streak blast through the air.
Seconds blurred into hours as the back-and-forth continued.
The void venerate stopped trying.
Void energy stirred within it, then outward through the void itself.
Like a mother welcoming her child, the void responded.
Every void beast in the tide switched direction.
Silas blinked.
The sheer volume of void beasts was enough to drown even a planet.
And everything was coming their way.
The railguns shot out, decimating millions of void beasts before they could draw near.
A gap was created in the area, only to be covered immediately as if the ones that had died were not even worth a percent of the total.
But the railguns did not tire.
Beast after beast was pulverized.
The void venerate seized the chance.
Its fists plunged into the barrier.
Void flames poured out from that point, spreading like wildfire.
They dissolved before they could burn through the barrier.
But the damage had been done.
"This is really bad," Silas whispered. "If only we had two of these things."
That was when an idea struck him.
"Marcel, can you use your skill?" He asked.
Although Marcel could not speak as a soul, the hum that resonated in Silas's mind was answer enough.
"Use it," Silas said with wide eyes.
He was not sure yet if the skill was going to copy the weapon too, or just Marcel's form.
He did not wonder for long.
Starlight began to condense above the weapon, creating a long trail that cast a dazzling image in the chaotic void.
Everything within sight was captivated by the beauty.
Even the void venerate paused its attack for a moment, choosing to focus on the new trails of starlight.
The students pointed towards the light.
"Is that Silas too?" One of them whispered.
At this point, the students had already started attributing impossible things to Silas.
After all, he was the only one who could constantly come up with things that were not meant to be possible.
A new weapon formed above the original one.
This one glistened with an ethereal light.
Silas furrowed his brows.
"Why does it feel like this one is stronger?"
He did not dwell too long in thought.
There was only one way to find out if it was truly stronger.
All blasters on the cloned weapon lit up with a blue light.
Boom.
A sound tore through the void of space.
Then after it, there was silence for a moment.
Before everything snapped back into place.
The void beasts encroaching on the barrier were blasted into pieces.
Not small pieces.
A single shot from the cloned weapon had destroyed at least a tenth of the void beast swarm.
"What is this?"
The words hung in the air.
Silas turned back to Asher, who had spoken.
For the first time, Asher saw shock in Silas's eyes.
To some extent, the shock relieved Asher even in this crisis.
To him, Silas was finally having a taste of the shock he always brought to others.
The true weapon, carrying the students, fired at the same time, all beams blasting through the venerate's arm.
The venerate's second arm lashed out almost instantly, black flames blazing along its frame as it pushed downward.
A concentrated beam of plasma burst through the arm at the same time, destroying it before it could even scratch the barrier.
Silas turned to Asher.
"How long do you think we can last like this?" He asked. "We might run out of batteries soon."
Although, to an extent, he felt the clone could produce batteries infinitely from the stars, which was the source of the cloning ability.
But in this situation, they needed both weapons performing at peak condition.
"I don't think you need to last for long," Asher said, pointing backward.
Silas knitted his brows together as he glanced back at the venerate.
