"Master Silas, another transmission," Rionne said, her voice reverberating through the ship.
Silas did not reply at first.
His eyes were fixed solely on the large screen in front of him, as if it were the only thing in existence.
The screen displayed a man shooting a bunch of cops from inside a car being driven by Asher's character.
"Pause," Silas yelled with a long gasp.
The characters on the screen stopped moving and Silas finally responded.
"Answer it."
"We are already a light year away from Earth," the man said. "You would have to join me from here on."
As the transmission was cut off, their spaceship came to a halt next to the escort ship.
Silas's face dropped slightly as he turned to look at Asher.
Asher sighed.
"We are not done with all the missions on this GRA 23," he said, staring at the screen.
As if they were about to make the greatest decision of their lives, both of them stood from their seats, pacing through the room, hands stroking their chins.
Then, as if they had spoken telepathically, they stopped at the same time.
Their eyes fell on the game, then they looked into each other's eyes.
"I know it is a hard decision," Silas said, looking at the game again.
"But," he sighed.
They spoke at the same time.
"We would continue the game."
"We would stop till we get to Earth."
"No, I meant we would continue on Earth," Asher quickly said, seeing that Silas had not thought the same thing.
Silas stared at Asher in disbelief.
"So, you were actually going to continue the game while the admission awaits me."
"No… I mean, I thought you wanted to say that," Asher tried to defend himself.
Silas just shook his head.
Then he walked towards the exit.
The doors slid open, granting him passage.
He stepped through, entering the void as if it were solid ground.
Asher ran behind him, jumping out of the ship before Silas returned it to the spatial ring.
"Welcome aboard, sirs," the escort said as Silas and Asher entered.
It was truly like a car, even the interior.
The man driving it only had to control it with a steering wheel.
Without further ado, they zoomed off, leaving silver trails through the void of space.
...
"How many days have passed?" Silas asked, looking at the spectacle before his eyes.
"If you are talking about when we left the main spaceship, that should be about a thousand hours ago. But you entered this ship two hundred hours ago," the man replied.
Silas groaned at those words.
So much time had passed and he could only sit through all of it, to the point where he had lost track of time.
But his mind quickly drifted away from those thoughts as he looked at what lay before him.
It was a planet, a small one at that.
'I really can't believe that the Imperial Capital, Earth, is such a small planet,' Silas thought as he looked at Earth.
'Even the sun of this solar system is smaller than a mid-level planet,' he mused, looking at the golden sun that burned brightly at the center of the nine planets.
"I would be dropping you off at Mars," the man suddenly said, dragging Silas out of his thoughts.
Silas shrugged.
Not like he knew anywhere in the first place.
Soon, their space-car turned towards the closest planet to Earth.
"Use your seat belts," the man warned as he began accelerating at a speed that made their previous pace look like a joke.
Silas quickly strapped the seat belt over his chest.
Asher did the same, even faster than Silas.
Soon, they entered the planet's atmosphere.
All they could see at first were the clouds that covered their ship in a dense fog of white.
Then, everything began to clear slowly as they passed through the atmosphere.
"Woah," Asher and Silas exclaimed.
Their faces were glued to the glass as they looked at the world beneath.
It seemed like something brought straight out of a sci-fi world.
Every building in the place was at least a thousand meters tall.
The buildings themselves seemed to have been made from a special white-silver metal that looked surreal under the sunlight.
Trains shot through the sky along invisible railways.
Everyone moving through the place carried themselves with a prestige that made their power obvious.
"Welcome to the Imperial Administrative Office, Mars," the man announced as he began his descent.
They were currently landing on what Silas could call one of the tallest buildings on the planet, at least among the ones he had seen.
The building was over ten thousand meters tall, piercing through the clouds themselves.
Their ship landed on the roof softly.
The man quickly stepped out and opened the door for Silas.
The cool breeze hit Silas in the face, making him close his eyes for a moment.
"I have missed the fresh air of being on a planet," he said, stepping out of the ship calmly.
His first foot landed firmly on the concrete roof, then his second.
Asher followed behind him shortly after.
"Follow me," the driver said with a bow as he pointed towards an elevator.
"What are we doing on this planet?" Silas asked.
"You would be getting all your licenses here," the driver said. "They are needed if you want to enter Earth or move freely within it."
Silas furrowed his brows, but said nothing more.
The elevator doors chimed, sliding open with a soft hiss.
As they entered, it began to plummet.
A few minutes passed and the doors opened again.
It revealed an office that seemed to be made entirely of glass.
The place was quiet.
More quiet than anywhere was allowed to be.
A large brown table made from the finest wood they had ever seen was placed in a semicircle to cover the employees behind it.
"Sir," the driver called, snapping them from their thoughts immediately.
