Kylie pushed her books aside. At least for tonight.
Her textbook had been abandoned on the floor somewhere beneath the coffee table, and her laptop remained open to a page she’d stopped reading twenty minutes ago.
The guy currently kissing her had made absolutely no attempt to remind her that she had a presentation coming up.
Her fingers slid into his hair as he leaned closer.
"You’re distracting me," she murmured against his mouth.
He smiled, and then laughed. "You haven’t studied for the last hour."
His laugh was low.
Kylie smiled against his lips, and kissed him deeper. His hands moved to her breast, and then he fondled them through the bra.
Then, they heard a sudden knock on the door. The knock came three time.
She halted.
The guy groaned softly. "Ignore it."
Another knock came.
Kylie pulled back. "Who knocks like that?"
"Probably your delivery."
She glanced toward the door. She had ordered food. She sighed and climbed off the couch.
"Don’t move."
He raised an eyebrow. "Wasn’t planning to."
Kylie rolled her eyes and walked toward the bedroom.
She quickly pulled a loose tank top over her black bra, ran her fingers through her hair, and headed toward the door.
Another knock followed the last one.
"Coming!"
She unlocked the door, pulled it open, and froze. Her eyes widened when she saw who stood before the door.
Standing outside was Christian. Tall, and impossibly composed.
He was wearing a plain matching grey outfit with no logo, dark sunglasses, and an expression that looked far too amused for someone who had just appeared unexpectedly at her apartment.
In one hand, he held a bouquet of flowers.
Kylie blinked twice.
Christian smiled. "Hi, love."
Her mouth opened to swnd him away, but nothing came out.
Christian tilted his head. "Are you going to invite me in?"
Before Kylie could answer, a voice came from behind her.
"Kylie?"
Her eyes widened further.
Christian’s smile slowly disappeared.
He removed his sunglasses. His gaze moved over her face, then down to the tank top, and back to her face.
He lifted one eyebrow.
Kylie immediately understood the look. "Get lost." She helf growled at him.
Christian said nothing. He simply stared at her.
She started pushing the door closed, and Christian’s foot appeared in the gap.
Kylie glared at him. "Move."
He smiled sweetly. "Open the door."
"No."
"You’re being difficult."
She scoffed like he has lost his mind. "You’re standing outside my apartment uninvited."
"I brought flowers." He said with a bright voice.
"I don’t want flowers."
His eyes dropped to the bouquet. "That’s unfortunate."
Kylie pushed harder.
Christian didn’t move.
She narrowed her eyes. "Are you seriously using your foot to block my door?"
"Yes."
"You’re insane."
The guy behind her appeared in the hallway. He was bare-chested.
Kylie closed her eyes.
He walked toward them, looking confused. "You’re taking so—"
He stopped when his eyes landed on Christian. Christian looked back at him. The man looked at Kylie, then back at Christian.
"Who is he?"
Kylie opened her mouth. "A—"
"Her boyfriend." Christian responded. His answer came smoothly.
Kylie whipped her head toward him.
Christian lifted the bouquet slightly. "And I brought her flowers."
The guy stared at him, then at Kylie. "Your boyfriend?"
Kylie looked like she wanted the floor to swallow her.
Christian remained perfectly calm. "That’s right."
The guy’s expression hardened. "She didn’t mention you." His voice came out tight.
Christian smiled. "She probably didn’t think it was relevant."
There was something about the way he said it that made the man’s posture change.
Christian stepped slightly closer. Not aggressively. He didn’t need to.
He was simply tall enough, broad enough, and confident enough to make the doorway suddenly feel considerably smaller.
The man folded his arms. He eyed Christain coldly. "Well, I’m already here."
Christian nodded. "I noticed." He smiled warmly
The silence stretched between them.
Kylie glanced between them. "Maybe we can all—"
Christian finally looked at her. "Kylie."
She swallowed. "Yes?"
"Do you want me to leave?"
She stared at him.
His expression was calm. Too calm as he held her gaze. She suddenly realised how they both had blonde hair, and blue eyes.
It was ridiculous.
She knew him well enough to understand what he was actually asking.
Do you want him to leave?
Kylie looked at the man beside her, then at Christian.
The other guy sighed when she didn’t respond. "This is irritating."
Christian smiled faintly. "Make sure you get home safe."
The man grabbed his shirt from the back of the couch.
He looked at Kylie. "You didn’t tell me you had a boyfriend."
Kylie rubbed her forehead. "I didn’t know I had one either. He’s not my boyfriend."
Christian’s mouth twitched.
The man looked between them again. "Whatever."
He walked toward the door.
Christian stepped aside politely. "Have a good night."
The man gave him a suspicious look, then he left.
Kylie watched him disappear down the hallway, and Christian stepped into her space. She closed the door, locked it, and turned around.
She stared at him, and he stared back.
"What?"
She pointed at the door. "What the hell was that?"
He lifted the flowers. "I brought you these."
"You just scared a perfectly innocent man out of my apartment."
Christian’s eyebrow rose. "Innocent?"
Kylie folded her arms. "Don’t start."
"I’m not starting anything."
"You literally lied and told him you’re my boyfriend."
Christian walked closer. He intesnly held her gaze, and hus expression lost all trace of layfulness in them. "Was I wrong?"
Kylie opened her mouth. His audacity made her jaw drop.
He stopped in front of her.
Kylie looked up at him. "You can’t just show up here." She glared at him. "I knew letting you drive me home from the race was the dumbest thing I’ve ever done."
He smiled.
She hated that smile. Mostly because she liked it.
Kylie looked at the flowers. She pointed at them with her brows raised in disbelief. "You actually brought those for me?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because I wanted to."
She stared at him. "That’s suspiciously sweet."
He shrugged with a smile. "I have my moments."
She reached for the bouquet, and Christian handed it to her.
Their fingers brushed, and Kylie met his eyes.
Christian looked back. The teasing expression slowly disappeared from his face.
The room became quiet.
Before he would blink again, Kylie grabbed the front of his shirt. She pulled him down, tiptoed, and kissed him
Christian froze for half a second, then his arms went around her.
He kissed her back with the same sudden hunger, pulling her closer until there was barely any space between them.
Kylie smiled against his mouth. "You are such a—" She kissed him again before finishing the sentence.
Christian mumured softly against her lips. Then he lifted her effortlessly from the floor.
Kylie gasped, instinctively wrapping her arms around his shoulders. "Christian!"
He smiled. "You started this."
She kissed him again. When she finally pulled back, she was breathless.
"I was just about to have sex before you showed up, you idiot."
Christian stared at her. His expression became completely impressed, and interested. "Good to know."
Kylie gaze hardened as she held his gaze staring down at him. "You interrupted me." She narrowed her eyes. "You’re not sorry."
He moved his face closer, and his hot breath fanned her lip. "Not even slightly."
She stared at him for a moment.
He lowered her carefully until her feet touched the floor. Then he leaned closer. She pulled him closer by his jacket again.
"You’re still not my boyfriend." She told him.
Christian looked down at her. He grabbed her from the waist. "Not yet."
Kylie rolled her eyes. "Keep dreaming."
A slow smile tugged at Christian’s lips. "I can wait."
She scoffed, but the corner of her mouth didn’t stay still. They curved slightly. "You’re silly."
"And yet," he murmured, leaning closer, "you keep kissing me."
That did it.
Kylie grabbed the front of his shirt and shoved him back. Christian stumbled, caught off guard, until the back of his legs hit the nearby couch and he dropped onto it.
Before he could recover, she followed him down, using his momentum to turn him over against the cushions. She pushed him firmly into place, bracing herself over him as his surprise faded into a grin.
"Don’t get cocky," she muttered.
"Too late," he chuckled, leaning forward.
Kylie didn’t let him finish. She closed the distance and kissed him, cutting off whatever smug reply he was about to make.
