The shock and excitement from the audience with Sect Master Xue Hongzhao still lingered in the air.
Some disciples walked with their heads held high; others whispered excitedly among themselves about cultivation pavilions, mission rewards, and sect resources.
"So we’re outer disciples of Red Talon Hall now," Chen Ming strolled right beside Lin Yuan, resting his hands casually behind his head.
"Yes," Lin Yuan replied, clicking his tongue slightly.
"Does that mean we’re allowed to walk around looking arrogantly?" Chen Ming grinned, laughing slightly.
"Hell nah, Chen Ming," Lin Yuan snickered immediately.
Chen Ming let out a dramatic sigh. "Tsk"
"Arrogance isn’t a sect’s privilege, Chen Ming. You were born with it," Lian Nichang sneered from right behind them.
"Shut up, Nichang."
Lin Yuan smiled faintly, shaking his head. And all thirty disciples followed Elder Luo Jianfeng.
After a few minutes of walking, Elder Luo Jianfeng came to a halt before a magnificent three-story pavilion built of red sandalwood and polished grey stone.
Above the entrance there was a massive golden plate: BEAST PAVILION
The thirty disciples immediately looked up, their eyes darting across the structure.
Luo Jianfeng turned toward the group, his hands tucked within his sleeves.
"Before you begin your daily cultivation and responsibilities here, you must grasp one of the principles of Red Talon Hall," Luo Jianfeng beamed and pointed a thumb toward the grand doors. "Your beast is your lifelong companion. Understand its unique abilities, its fatal weaknesses, and its instincts."
His sharp, weathered eyes darted across every disciple.
"And most importantly... never fall into the delusion that refining a stronger beast automatically makes you an invincible cultivator."
The disciples nodded solemnly.
Luo Jianfeng pushed the wooden doors open. "Today, you will register your primary beasts and receive your sect identity tokens."
One by one, the thirty disciples stepped inside.
The interior of the Beast Pavilion was a vast library of beasts. Hundreds of towering shelves stretched across the massive hall, holding thousands of shining jade slips, beast scrolls, bloodline charts, evolution diagrams, and ancient descriptions.
The records of thousands upon thousands of beasts filled across the room.
"Holy shit..." Chen Ming flabbergasted, his jaw dropping low.
Lian Nichang stared upward at the shelves. "There are so many..."
Lin Yuan walked quietly down one of the central aisles, his eyes observing a few sections:
Common Beasts.
Rare Beasts.
Epic Beasts.
Legendary Beasts.
Divine Beasts.
Then, his gaze caught a smaller shelf near the back: Bloodline Mutations.
’Interesting,’ Lin Yuan’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"Next candidate, step forward!" an elder seated behind a counter called out. The disciples lined up to register their details one by one. His name was Xing Chen, Core Beast Realm — Lower Stage Cultivator and a Fire-Serpent beast holder.
"Fang Zhen." A sharp-eyed young man stepped up. "Baby Beast Realm, Peak Stage. Flame Falcon."
A faint crimson falcon phantom manifested behind him, screeching softly before vanishing into thin air. The elder quickly wrote with his brush across a jade record. "Next!"
Slowly every disciple gave the names and details to the elder. The pavilion elder continued recording each entry calmly.
"Bai Ning." A pale young girl with long, black hair stepped forward from the line. Her expression was tranquil, looking like she was unbothered against the environment. Then a fox silhouette appeared on her shoulder, shimmering faintly. Its snow-white tail lingered into three tails swagging elegantly on her shoulder.
When she took out her beast previously, she masked its true aura from the others, but when she find out Lin Yuan has multiple beasts and he is the strongest in the room, she got jealous and unleashed her fox’ true aura which has potential for ancient bloodline mutations.
The calm whispers broke out immediately:
"Haha! she has an epic beast, why are you all looking at her like a god?"
"No... I heard that a few of the Nine-Tailed foxes have ancient bloodline mutations, and her beast has that potential!"
"That bloodline is mythical in the eastern provinces!"
Bai Ning looked straight ahead, her voice breaking the silence. "Spirit Beast Realm, Peak Stage."
The recording elder smirked, quickly dipping his brush in ink before writing: Bai Ning — Spirit Beast Realm, Peak Stage. Three-tailed Fox.
Lin Yuan watched the fox beast with interest. Inside his sea of consciousness, the turtle beast opened an eye, murmuring calmly. "Now that is a rare creature."
’You recognize its lineage?’ Lin Yuan asked.
"Haha... I have seen many Nine-tailed foxes, also some of them have great potential for mutating into true bloodline. I can sense that potential from his beast, I guess everyone sensed it from that brat and his beast."
Lin Yuan’s eyes narrowed. ’Mutations?’
"Illusions, soul reading, seeing through masked auras are its speciality compared to normal Nine-Tailed foxes; mutated one’s senses are many times larger."
Lin Yuan gave a faint, intrigued smirk. ’Interesting.’
The turtle chuckled softly. "Don’t stare at her too long, kid. That little fox’s senses are sharper than a sharp spear."
Lin Yuan casually darted his gaze away.
Almost instantly, Bai Ning turned her head toward Lin Yuan. For a second, their eyes met across the hall. Her expression was calm, assessing.
Lin Yuan offered a polite, faint nod. She looked away slowly.
The registration continued until Luo Jianfeng gestured toward the Green Hollow Academy group. "Your turn, brats,"
One by one, everyone in the academy group was introduced again to the elder Xing Chen.
"Lin Yuan."
The entire pavilion grew silent again. Almost everyone other than academy disciples clicked their tongues in jealousy, after the chaotic clash with the Sect Master’s Phoenix earlier, everyone’s eyes were locked onto him.
Lin Yuan stepped forward calmly. "Core Beast Realm, Lower Stage."
Even though the other candidates had witnessed his realm yesterday, hearing the fifteen-year-old confirm it before the elders again still sent a wave of murmurs through the hall.
Lin Yuan calmly extended his left palm, his turtle beast appeared on his palm. Its dark shell carried faint ridges, and its small, sleepy eyes looked at the hall before it casually let out a wide yawn.
’An uncommon beast, and he is on the same level with me?? How the hell is that possible?’ Xing Chen sneered slightly as he watched the sleepy turtle. He quickly brushed the ink across the scroll.
As Lin Yuan lowered his arm and turned back, his worn out crimson robes shifted slightly, revealing a brief, shimmering outline of the twin White Tiger tattoos across his back.
Xing Chen’s eyes caught the tattoo for a fraction of a second, but the elder didn’t ask him anything.
Once the registration concluded, Xing Chen handed each of the thirty disciples a dark red jade token.
"This is your official Red Talon Hall identity token," Xing Chen announced. "Using it one can track their sect standing, recorded missions, disciplinary marks, and contribution points. You can come to the beast pavilion hall and register your daily stats here with the help of that token."
Chen Ming rubbed the smooth jade in his hand. "Contribution points?"
"Red Talon Hall does not hand out cultivation elixirs, beast cores, or advanced techniques for free. You must earn them," The elder nodded, elucidating everything. "Take on sect tasks. Hunt rogue beasts and exchange their materials. Participate in arena challenges. Everything inside this sect has a price tag."
Chen Ming’s eyes lit up with ambition. "So where do we find the fastest-paying jobs?"
The elder pointed out through the window toward an enormous hall beside. "The Mission Hall."
"Let’s go take a look right now!" Chen Ming immediately spun on his heel.
Lian Nichang grabbed the back of his collar, pulling him back. "Hold on, you idiot."
"What now?!"
"We haven’t even eaten yet."
Chen Ming paused, thinking it over for two seconds. "Fair point, food comes first."
Xing Chen pointed toward a stone sculpture of four feet height, and a deep crater engraved on it similar to the size of the identity token disciples received.
"Remember this, if you have completed any missions, challenges or it can be anything regarding your growth, knowledge..." Xing Chen continued, ignoring the banter, "just place your identity token there and provide the details, then you will be rewarded accordingly."
Along with all the disciples, Lin Yuan shook his head with a quiet chuckle as the disciples walked out of the Beast Pavilion.
Near the grand archway, Bai Ning stood quietly for a moment. Her Three-Tailed Fox phantom remained behind her shoulder, its shimmering eyes locked on Lin Yuan’s back as its three silver tails swirled slowly in the air.
Bai Ning lowered her gaze, whispering softly, "What is it?"
The fox made no sound, but its ears remained pointed straight toward Lin Yuan. A few paces ahead, Lin Yuan suddenly stopped mid-step. He glanced back over his shoulder.
For a second, his dark eyes locked onto the Three-Tailed Fox staring back at him across the area. The beast’s eyes narrowed with curiosity.
Lin Yuan offered a faint smile and turned back to catch up with his group.
Inside his ring, the turtle let out a raspy chuckle. "That fox definitely picked up on something."
Lin Yuan walked calmly toward the dining hall along with his group. ’What does that mean?’
"Your spiritual aura," the turtle replied. "The beast became curious from the faint traces of the white tigers resting inside your core."
’I need the Chameleon beast cores...’ Lin Yuan thought, stroking his chin.
Finding a way to refine that concealment elixir had just become a top priority. He looked toward the Mission Hall with a determined glint in his eyes.
’Fine. Looks like I’ll be paying the Mission Hall a visit soon.’
Behind him, Bai Ning quietly watched Lin Yuan disappear into the crowd.
