Chapter 98: Chapter 94 FIRST BLOOD
The entire forest seemed to tremble. Alex took a step forward, keeping his eyes fixed on the monstrous creatures. The two Knights of the Round Table remained behind him.
The female knight with white hair wore black armor crackling with white lightning, while she held two short swords.
Beside her, the blue-haired male knight firmly held a spear, a layer of cold mist spreading from his black armor across the ground around his feet.
Alex did not look away. There were dozens of creatures before him, and more continued to emerge. More yellow eyes appeared between the trees, along with red eyes, while crawling bodies moved across the roots and quadrupedal creatures forced their way through, breaking bushes and small trees.
The monsters did not seem like the ones from the dungeons. These creatures were larger, more aggressive, and, above all, seemed much more coordinated. Alex tightened his grip on Excalibur as he observed every movement between the trees.
The black sword fully materialized in his hand, its purple patterns glowing beneath the light filtering through the trees. At the same time, an aura enveloped his body, and electricity ran through his black hair with a purple hue.

Alex breathed slowly. His increased Perception allowed him to follow the smallest movements between the trees. One of the creatures was about to attack.
Alex used Gravitational Manipulation, slightly altering the gravity around his body.
"Get ready."
The Knights did not answer. They did not need to. They merely exchanged empty glances before following the order.
The first creature charged. It was the same quadrupedal species Alex had observed earlier, but this one was much larger. Its claws tore through the ground as the monster rushed between the trees.
Alex waited.
When the creature opened its mouth, Alex disappeared using Lightning Step.
His body crossed the distance in an instant. The creature turned its head, but it was already too late to escape. Excalibur slashed sideways.
Black blood exploded into the air. The strike opened a huge wound in the creature’s neck, but it was not enough to bring it down with a single blow.
Alex’s eyes widened slightly. His attributes had reached 131 thanks to the boost from his sword.
The monster violently twisted its body. One claw passed inches from Alex’s face, forcing him to retreat by mere centimeters. The second claw came immediately afterward.
Alex blocked the monster’s claws with Excalibur.
CLANG!
The impact made his arms tremble. The creature’s strength was absurd, and Alex was pushed several meters backward, his feet carving grooves into the ground.
"What strength..."
The creature gave him no time to think. It charged again. Alex raised his left hand, concentrating on Gravitational Manipulation Lv5.
Invisible pressure descended upon the monster. Its body sank several centimeters into the ground and its legs trembled, yet it continued advancing.
Alex narrowed his eyes. The gravitational force was working, but it was not enough to stop the creature completely.
"Now!"
The spear-wielding Knight advanced. The ground froze beneath his feet, and the spear descended, wrapping one of the creature’s legs in a layer of ice. The monster roared and tried to break free.
The female Knight appeared from the other side. A bolt of lightning exploded from her twin swords and struck the creature’s body, causing its muscles to contract violently.
Alex seized the opening. He then used Lightning Step to its limit together with Gravitational Manipulation.
His body appeared before the monster’s head, and Excalibur descended. This time, the blade cut completely through its neck, and the head fell to the ground.
The body remained motionless for several seconds before collapsing. Alex took a deep breath, but there was no time to celebrate. A roar tore through the forest.
The creatures attacked simultaneously. Alex immediately realized the problem. There were not three or four of them. Dozens were charging toward him.
"Don’t let them surround us!"
He shot forward.
A humanoid creature emerged between two trees. Alex tilted his body to the side and let its claws pass over his shoulder. Excalibur cut through its arm.
The monster screamed.
Alex spun and struck its chest. The creature was thrown against a tree. Before it could get up, Gravity increased around its body.
CRACK!
Its bones crushed against the trunk. Another creature appeared behind Alex. His Perception caught the movement.
He turned, but it was too late.
The claws struck his chest. Gravitational Defense reduced part of the impact, but Alex was thrown against a tree.
BOOM!
The enormous trunk shook.
"Ugh!"
Alex dropped to one knee. He looked down and saw blood running through his clothes. The previous attack had pierced through his Lv5 Gravitational Defense.
The creature slowly approached. Alex wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, then smiled faintly.
He stood up. The pain had not disappeared, but his mind was clearer.
The first creature had attacked directly. The second had tried to approach from behind. Now several of them were splitting into groups. They were trying to surround him.
Alex quickly looked toward the Knights. The female lightning knight was fighting three creatures at the same time, dodging their claws while firing lightning bolts at close range.
The spear-wielding Knight had frozen part of the ground, reducing the mobility of the monsters attempting to advance from that side.
Alex understood.
"Hold the sides!"
The Knights advanced. They had the ability to regenerate infinitely as long as Alex still had HP.
Alex raised Excalibur.
A gigantic creature leaped at him. He activated Gravity, and the monster’s body dropped in the middle of its jump. Alex passed underneath it.
Lightning Step. The blade pierced through the creature’s abdomen, but another creature was already upon him.
Alex spun.
He blocked a claw.
The impact made his arm go numb. The creature opened its mouth, and Alex realized too late that there was another one behind it.
"Damn it!"
He concentrated Gravity on both monsters. The first was forced downward while the second lost its balance.
Alex seized the opening. One step, one slash.
Excalibur pierced through the first creature’s head. Alex immediately turned as the second creature tried to flee. He extended his hand.
"Don’t even think about running."
Gravity pulled its body backward. Alex advanced, his sword cutting through it, and the monster fell dead.
[HP: 3,000/4,200]
Alex breathed heavily. His body was becoming heavier. Not physically, but from the exertion.
Maintaining Gravity, using Lightning Step, and continuously fighting alongside his Knights was consuming his resources.
[MP: 5,028/6,993]
Alex glanced at the window for only an instant. Fortunately, there was still plenty left. However, the battle had only just begun.
More creatures emerged from the forest. Alex remained silent.
"How many are there?"
The first group had only been a part of the horde. The monstrous horde advanced. Alex gripped Excalibur with both hands.
This time, he did not wait. He charged directly toward them.
Lightning Step.
His body disappeared, only to reappear before a creature.
After the slash, he disappeared again.
Another creature.
Slash.
Excalibur tore through flesh and bone as Alex used his mobility to ensure he never remained in the same place.
When three monsters tried to surround him, he altered Gravity. The weight of their bodies changed abruptly.
One fell.
Another lost its balance, while the third advanced alone. Alex entered the range of its claws and blocked.
He spun and slashed twice.
But a creature leaped from the trees. Alex noticed it at the last moment, and its claw struck his shoulder.
Blood sprayed as Alex staggered.
The creature advanced to finish him, but a ball of lightning struck the monster.
BOOM!
The monster was thrown aside. The white-haired female Knight remained several meters behind him. Alex looked at her.
She simply turned back to face the other monsters. Alex took a deep breath before returning to the battle.
The forest had transformed into a battlefield. Trees broke, the ground was torn apart by claws, lightning illuminated the treetops, ice spread across the ground, and Alex’s Gravity forced rocks and bodies into the earth.
Every attack revealed a pattern. Each creature possessed brutal strength, but their movements were predictable. The smaller ones attacked in groups, while the larger ones tried to break through his defenses.
Alex began anticipating their movements.
When one creature leaped, he increased Gravity. When another tried to flee, he closed the distance with Lightning Step. When two charged together, he forced one of them to collide with the other.
The experience accumulated through his previous battles was finally beginning to show.
Alex was not simply reacting. He was controlling the battle.
Then the last creature from that group fell before him.
Silence.
Alex remained motionless. Blood ran down his arm, and his breathing was heavy. The Knights had also stopped.
For several seconds, only the wind passed through the forest.
Then a window appeared.
[SYSTEM WARNING.]
[EXPERIENCE ACQUIRED.]
Alex’s eyes widened.
[SUFFICIENT EXPERIENCE.]
[YOU HAVE LEVELED UP.]
Alex felt a wave of energy surge through his body. The pain diminished, his breathing stabilized, and his muscles seemed to recover part of the strength they had lost.
He closed his eyes for a moment.
Then he smiled.
"Finally, Level 31..."
Alex opened his eyes. There were still creatures between the trees. Many of them.
He raised Excalibur.
The expression on his face became serious once again. Behind him, the two Knights raised their weapons.
