"Then keep coming. I can do this all day."
Alex's voice disappeared among the sounds of the forest, but the creatures responded immediately.
A deep roar swept through the trees and, as if it had been the signal they were waiting for, the horde of monsters charged from all sides.
Alex tightened his grip on Excalibur and observed their movements for only a few seconds, trying to distinguish which creatures were truly dangerous and which were merely attempting to distract him.
The two Knights of the Round Table remained at his side. The white-haired female knight advanced first, her swords drawn as electricity coursed through her black armor.
The blue-haired male knight took the opposite side, his spear pointed toward the horde as a layer of ice began covering the ground.
Alex took a deep breath. The battle was not over yet. In fact, it was getting worse.
The smaller creatures attacked first. They were fast and numerous, using each other's bodies to conceal their movements. Alex immediately understood their intention. They wanted to occupy his field of vision while the larger creatures attacked from the sides.
"Smart, but not smart enough. Monsters are still monsters, no matter how intelligent you are..."
Alex lowered his body just as a creature leaped.
Lightning Step!
His body disappeared the instant the claws struck the place where his head had been. Alex appeared behind the monster and swung his sword. Excalibur pierced through its back.
Before the body could reach the ground, Alex was already moving again. Another creature came from the left. He twisted his body acrobatically, thanks to his absurd agility, blocked the claw with his sword and used the force of the impact to change his position.
The creature tried to bite him.
Alex extended his hand.
The monster's weight increased violently. All four legs sank into the ground. Alex did not waste the opportunity. A horizontal slash descended, and the monster's head fell.
But three creatures came immediately afterward.
Alex retreated.
One passed by him. The second attacked from the front. The third leaped from a tree. He could not block all three.
So he altered the gravitational field.
The creature in the air lost speed, while the one in front was pulled downward. Alex passed between them.
The third fell onto the first, and the two bodies collided.
Alex seized the opportunity.
Lightning Step!
Excalibur pierced the throat of the creature that was still standing.
Black blood splashed onto the ground, but a huge shadow suddenly covered Alex.
He looked up.
A gigantic creature was falling toward him.
Alex raised Excalibur.
The impact caused the ground to sink.
CRASH!
Alex was forced down onto one knee. The creature's claws pressed against the blade, making Alex's arms tremble violently despite his increased strength.
"Heavy..."
The creature roared and increased the pressure. Alex felt the ground beneath his feet beginning to crack.
He did not try to overpower it with strength. He had already learned that lesson.
Instead, he concentrated the Authority of Gravity on his own body.
Alex's weight changed and, for an instant, the creature lost its balance.
Alex spun to the side, causing the claw to pass over his head, then struck the monster's leg.
Excalibur opened a deep wound and the creature roared, but it remained standing.
Alex immediately retreated.
"Even that wasn't enough? What are these monsters made of?"
The monster attacked again.
Alex simply dodged, and a tree behind him was destroyed by the claw.
He immediately advanced.
Lightning Step!
He appeared beside the monster's shoulder.
Slash.
He struck its arm and immediately retreated to another position.
Lightning Step.
Slash.
This time, he struck its leg and retreated again.
Alex was not trying to destroy the creature in a single attack.
He was dismantling it.
With every attack, he reduced its ability to move.
The creature finally realized what was happening and tried to turn around.
Alex increased the Gravity over its body with Gravitational Control Lv5.
The monster lost its balance.
It was the moment Alex had been waiting for.
Holding Excalibur with both hands, he spoke quietly.
"It's over."
Lightning Step!
Alex appeared before its neck, and the sword descended in a beautiful slash, purple lightning crackling around the blade.
This time, there was no resistance.
The blade completely severed the creature's neck, and its enormous head fell to the ground.
The body remained motionless.
Alex breathed heavily.
But before he could recover his breath, an even louder roar echoed through the forest.
He raised his eyes.
The forest was filled with creatures.
The remaining monsters were coming.
Alex gritted his teeth.
"More?"
The Knights were also struggling. The white-haired female knight had been surrounded by several creatures. Her lightning destroyed some of them, but others managed to pass through the attacks and close the distance.
She spun her swords, disregarding defense. A white bolt of lightning exploded together with the strike, immediately sending two creatures flying backward.
Another advanced.
The knight was forced to block it with both swords. The claws slid across her armor.
She retreated only one step before responding with another strike.
On the other side, the blue-haired knight had transformed part of the forest into a frozen field. Creatures slipped and fell while he used his spear to keep the enemies at a distance.
Alex watched for a second.
They were holding back several monsters, fighting without regard for their defenses and regenerating constantly.
But they could not do that forever.
His MP was not infinite.
"We need to finish this as quickly as possible. I don't know what other dangers I'll encounter before finding my companions."
Alex advanced using Lightning Step.
Excalibur pierced through a monster's chest.
He did not stop.
Another.
Slash.
Another.
Slash.
Each movement was short, direct and without wasted motion.
Alex had learned from his previous battles that speed without control was useless, while strength without strategy could put him in danger.
Now he combined both.
The horde began to decrease.
But there was one final creature.
And it looked different from the others Alex and his Knights had killed.
It was much larger.
Its body seemed covered in a thick, dark carapace, while four red eyes stared directly at Alex.
The monster did not attack immediately.
Alex remained still as well.
The two stared at each other.
The wind passed between them.
Alex realized that the creature was probably the leader of the group.
The creature roared.
The sound shook the trees.
Then it charged.
Alex did the same, together with his Knights.
The four collided in the center of the clearing.
CLANG!
Excalibur met a claw, and the impact sent Alex and his Knights backward.
Alex landed on his feet.
The creature came again.
It was blocked.
The next claw struck his chest.
Passive Gravitational Defense Lv5 absorbed part of the impact, but the blow still opened a wound.
Alex retreated.
The monster did not stop.
Another claw descended.
Alex dodged.
Another.
He blocked it.
Another.
He jumped backward.
The creature was fast.
Very fast.
Alex tightened his grip on the sword.
"I understand."
He began observing the creature's attack pattern.
The first attack always came from the right.
The second changed depending on his position.
The third was always a direct charge.
Alex waited while signaling new positions to his Knights.
The creature advanced, delivering the first strike.
Right.
Alex dodged.
Second.
He blocked.
Third.
Lightning Step!
Alex disappeared while his Knights blocked the subsequent movements of the enormous beast.
The next instant, Alex appeared behind the monster in midair.
Slash!
Excalibur tore through the carapace.
The creature roared and turned.
Alex was already gone.
Another Lightning Step.
Another slash.
This time, at its leg.
The creature partially collapsed as the Knights pushed against it.
Alex raised his hand and used Gravitational Control Lv5.
The monster's entire body was pressed against the ground.
The creature roared and tried to rise.
Alex increased the pressure.
Its legs began sinking into the ground, but the monster still resisted.
Alex felt his muscles tremble.
His MP continued to decrease as he and his Knights used their abilities to the limit, attacking with thick layers of ice and crackling lightning.
Excalibur shone as Alex advanced for the final blow.
Lightning Step!
He appeared directly before the creature.
The sword pierced through the carapace from the rear, the blow entering through its chest.
The creature became motionless.
For a moment, its four eyes remained open.
Then its body fell.
BOOM!
Silence.
Alex remained standing, Excalibur still in his hand, fresh blood covering his body.
His own blood and that of the creatures were mixed together.
The two Knights finally stopped.
The forest, which had previously been dominated by roars, became silent.
Alex took a deep breath.
Then a window appeared before his eyes.
[LEVELED UP! .]
Alex remained motionless as a current of energy passed through his body.
His wounds disappeared completely as his HP and MP were restored, but the sensation of exhaustion remained.
"Stronger..."
Alex looked at the bodies scattered throughout the forest and felt no pride.
Only relief.
The battle had finally ended.
Now he could search for his companions, Tiffany and the other members of the Galaxy Aiz guild.
Alex opened his updated system window after having risen two levels.

Alex stared at the numbers for several seconds.
Level 32.
Two levels from a single battle.
He slowly closed the window.
Behind him, the Knights remained motionless.
Alex looked toward the forest.
The battle was over, but that place continued to give him a strange feeling.
The forest was too silent.
Alex sheathed Excalibur.
"Let's find the others first."
He took his first step.
Then stopped.
Something had changed far away.
Between the trees, a leaf fell.
Then another.
Alex raised his eyes.
That world was still watching them.
