Chapter 209: The Masquerade Ball in the Eastern RealmAs soon as the lengthy royal sermon, the grand banquet meal, and the complex Eastern traditional rituals finally concluded, Solomon wasted absolutely zero time.
He immediately caught the attention of Marco, Arthur, Maximus, and Elizabeth, signaling for the four of them to head straight back to the training grounds to resume their practice.
He glanced at Elizabeth. She looked absolutely stunning in the flowing white moon-silk gown. He honestly did not want her to change out of the elegant dress, but martial training always came first. He sent her to the dirt rings with the rest of the boys.
Solomon quickly swapped his tailored ceremonial tunic for his standard gray academy uniform and joined his class in the courtyard.
As soon as the practice session began, Marco and the others immediately sensed a distinct shift in the atmosphere. Solomon was noticeably more strict and irritable than usual, pacing the rings with a heavy scowl. They had absolutely no idea what had caused his sudden foul mood.
The grueling day passed under the hot sun, ending with each student successfully conquering their respective milestones.
Since Arthur was no longer forced to physically master the body mechanics, he had successfully memorized the visual choreography all the way up to the eighth step and was performing it slowly.
Maximus utilized his Vanguard strength to push his mastery to the tenth form.
Elizabeth, however, had surged ahead of both of them. She was currently practicing the aerial transition of the eleventh step. The final three forms required the most intense focus and physical conditioning.
Marco occupied a separate ring, practicing his sequences entirely on his own without any direct guidance from the silver-haired boy.
Solomon stopped in front of the panting telekinetic boy. "Arthur, you will not get to eat dinner or return to your quarters until you finish learning the visual flow for the tenth step today."
[1Fizzy: bro is making Arthur suffer today.]
[Mezz_3863: Solo Man woke up choosing violence against Arthur.]
[James_hayes: what did Arthur even do?!]
[GoonLord: THE DRILL SERGEANT IS BACK!]
[Foodball: Arthur fighting for his life.]
Solomon was definitely not being extra harsh on Arthur simply because the boy had snitched to Lune about the existence of the Null Orbs. That petty reason had absolutely nothing to do with the intense workload.
He moved on to Maximus. "Slow down. Stop trying to force the blade through the air. You are tightening your shoulders again. Let the momentum do the work."
Maximus immediately offered a rigid salute. "I apologize, Instructor Solomon! I will correct my posture immediately!"
Solomon then approached the white-haired royal. "You are doing great, Elizabeth. Take your time with the aerial transition so you do not twist an ankle."
[Tyler_Klare: the blatant favoritism lmao.]
[Zoomtech: bro treats Elizabeth like glass and Arthur like a punching bag.]
[PandoraLifeweaver: Solo Man playing favorites so hard right now.]
[M00N: the duality of man.]
A few hours later, a royal servant rushed onto the training grounds carrying a sealed parchment. The servant bowed and delivered a message directly from Princess Lune.
The grand evening party, feast, and celebration would begin shortly at the Zenith Pavilion. The royal decree instructed them to arrive perfectly on time, noting that fresh ceremonial garments had already been delivered to their respective guest quarters.
Arthur practically collapsed onto the grass, letting out a profound sigh of relief upon hearing the mandatory break.
"Alright, training is done for today," Solomon announced, tossing his wooden practice sword onto the rack. "Go get cleaned up and change into your new clothes."
Solomon returned to his chamber and found the new attire neatly folded on his mattress. He picked up the garments and immediately frowned. The clothes were far too flashy for his taste, woven from dark crimson silk with elaborate gold trimmings.
The outfit also included a decorative half-face mask designed to cover his eyes and nose, perfectly matching the masquerade theme of the royal party.
"I hate this," Solomon complained to the floating bronze owl, tossing the mask onto the desk. "What is the point of wearing a mask if it only covers half my face? Everyone already knows who I am because of my hair."
[2Lazy2Care: bro hates having fun.]
[MattMickyD: just put the mask on Solo Man.]
[Frendscham: it is a masquerade! play along!]
[Ken_Getchell: you are going to look so edgy.]
Needless to say, after taking a bath, he begrudgingly got dressed, strapping Eden’s Penance across his back out of sheer habit despite the formal setting. He met up with Marco, Arthur, Maximus, and Elizabeth in the corridor, and the group walked together toward the Zenith Pavilion.
They stepped through the grand archways, and the sight before them was truly breathtaking. Thousands of glowing crystal orbs floated near the vaulted ceilings, casting a vibrant, multi-colored light across the sprawling ballroom.
Nobles wearing elaborate masks danced across the polished marble floors to the lively tune of a massive string orchestra. The rich aroma of roasted meats and sweet wines filled the air, completely transforming the palace into a grand, magical festival.
Solomon glanced around at his friends and noticed their coordinated masquerade attire. Elizabeth wore an elegant, flowing black gown that starkly contrasted with her white hair.
Marco stood nearby in a sharp blue tunic, Maximus wore deep green, and Arthur looked incredibly awkward in a bright yellow outfit.
Looking down at his own dark crimson silk, Solomon felt surprisingly happy with his assigned color.
The grand banquet feast commenced. Upbeat music played steadily in the background as the massive crowd of masked nobles gathered into social circles, chatting loudly about politics and trade.
Princess Syra and her new groom occupied a private, elevated seating area, watching the festivities with bright smiles while they spoke quietly to one another.
Eventually, the orchestra shifted their tempo, signaling the start of the paired dances. The guests quickly coupled up and moved toward the polished marble floor.
Solomon completely ignored the socializing nobles. He found a quiet table near the edge of the room and dedicated his entire focus to eating as many spiced sausages and sweet pastries as physically possible.
He continued stuffing his face with food. Suddenly, his feast was rudely interrupted.
Lune stepped in front of his table. She wore an elegant gown of the exact same dark crimson silk as his. She looked absolutely breathtaking, the matching colors immediately drawing the attention of the surrounding nobles.
"We need to dance," Lune announced, crossing her arms over her dress.
Solomon stopped chewing and stared at her in utter confusion. They had not spoken a single word to each other the entire day. She had avoided him since the argument at the hot spring, and now she suddenly wanted to dance.
