Chapter 241: The Second Phase

The masked inquisitor watched from the relative safety of the outer ridge, entirely paralyzed by the sheer impossibility of the spectacle.

’Eight elite Holy Knights and twenty-seven Azure Moon Knights fought that serpent for hours,’ the inquisitor thought to himself, his hands trembling. ’They could not even make the beast shriek. They only managed to wound its outer scales after executing complex, synchronized combo attacks with vanguard formations, and even those minor lacerations healed within seconds.’

He recalled the grim survival report. The remaining three Azure knights and seven Holy Knights only managed to survive because they were delayed entering the final boss area. The main vanguard had already triggered the engagement condition, locking the stragglers out of the slaughter zone.

’That delay saved their lives. Even Prince Ryu only survived because he was resting in a nearby cavern after sustaining injuries from the lesser mobs on the previous area.’

Yet, he had just watched a single teenager defeat the snow serpent alone in less than five minutes.

His mind completely refused to comprehend how a first-year academy student could achieve such a devastating feat, especially while the use of aura was entirely restricted by the rift’s laws.

’He does not even possess the bulky, muscular build required to exert that much raw physical strength,’ the inquisitor analyzed, gripping the frozen rock. ’He is only performing basic sword swings and chops, so how is he unleashing such catastrophic damage? It must be his talent.’

The inquisitor mentally reviewed the intelligence files the Church Union had gathered on the boy. Solomon possessed an SSS-rank talent known as Convergence. The reports claimed the ability was unawakened and dormant, earning him the mocking title of the ’Strongest Loser’.

’He clearly awakened it,’ the inquisitor concluded incorrectly. ’And combined with the S-rank holy relic he wields, the weapon must be boosting his physical output and doing all the heavy lifting.’

The inquisitor could not have been more wrong.

Solomon’s Convergence talent had absolutely nothing to do with his strike power or his damage output. The immense destruction stemmed entirely from fifteen years of agonizing martial refinement inside a mental void.

Suddenly, the serpent’s lower body slowly began to move. It coiled upward, dragging its pulverized upper half together. The shredded flesh and shattered crystalline scales rapidly knitted themselves back into place, reforming the beast’s severed head right before their eyes.

The inquisitor gasped, unable to believe what he was seeing. He had assumed that since Solomon had completely blasted the serpent’s brain apart, regeneration would be impossible. Yet, the beast was already standing tall again.

Solomon took a deep, exhausted breath and simply stared at the recovering serpent while remaining seated on the rubble.

A new glowing blue panel materialized above the cratered snowfield as phase two officially began.

[CLEAR CONDITION: DEFEAT THE BOSS.]

[RIFT LAW: NO USE OF AURA.]

[RESTRICTION LAW APPLIED IN 60 SECONDS.]

Solomon stared at the digital counter. He had absolutely no idea what new, twisted law would replace the restriction after sixty seconds, but he recognized a narrow window of opportunity when he saw one.

"This is my chance," Solomon muttered to the camera.

He stood up, leaning heavily against his greatsword for support as the serpent fully reformed and coiled its massive body, preparing to launch a retaliatory strike.

Solomon did not waste a single second. The moment the countdown began to tick, and the restriction lifted, he pushed a massive surge of spiritual energy through his meridian pathways, entirely coating Eden’s Penance in a blinding silver aura.

He refused to hold anything back.

He watched the serpent slither across the crater, attempting to coil around the adjacent mountains to hide its massive body for a blind-spot ambush.

However, the surrounding peaks were already pulverized into rubble from their previous clash, and the blinding storm had completely dissipated. Solomon now had a clear, unobstructed line of sight.

The serpent had absolutely nowhere left to hide.

Every single twitch of the beast’s crystalline scales was perfectly visible.

The serpent hissed and launched a devastating frontal assault. Solomon effortlessly dodged the incoming strikes. Without the deep snow hindering his footwork, he could move freely.

The leveled cratered landscape offered plenty of room to jump and maneuver compared to the restrictive blizzard.

Solomon had only ever used the Divine Cleave ability once before, back when he faced the army of a thousand undead soldiers in the Ruined Kingdom of Eden.

After that singular event, he never found the necessary opportunity to use the ranged, area-of-effect attack again, as he had always managed to defeat his opponents using pure physical strikes or aura enhancements.

Now, his situation was entirely different. He possessed vastly superior control and absolute mastery over his aura circulation. Back in Eden, he had only just awakened his internal energy and possessed a single, primary core.

Now, he had four cores fully unlocked. His spiritual pathways were significantly wider, allowing for a much denser, more volatile aura output.

Solomon decided to pour every single drop of his remaining spiritual strength into one final attack.

As the serpent lunged, Solomon jumped to the side, utilizing the evasive footwork of the Azure Crane Blade. He swung his greatsword in a wide arc, but he intentionally refrained from releasing the aura, keeping the dense silver energy tightly compressed within the pristine steel.

The serpent missed its target, coiled its massive body, and turned around for another furious strike, descending rapidly toward the silver-haired boy.

Solomon anchored his boots into the rubble and executed the fourth form of the Eden Imperial Sword Arts. Simultaneously, he activated the sword’s Divine Cleave ability.

He compressed his entire body weight, his forward momentum, and all his surging silver aura directly into the microscopic point of the executioner’s sword.

The tip of Eden’s Penance generated a blinding flash of stark black and white light. The concentrated silver aura traveled up the length of the blade, mixing violently with the weapon’s divine energy.

The initial vacuum created by the compressed strike was so immensely powerful that the surrounding air, the scattered snow, and the loose gravel were visibly sucked toward the tip of the blade, accompanied by a high-pitched, terrifying whistling sound.

Just as the colossal serpent unhinged its jaws to swallow him, Solomon unleashed the compressed attack.

He thrust the greatsword forward. The resulting blast was so impossibly powerful that the entire world around him momentarily lost its color, turning completely black and white as the searing silver aura painted over reality itself.

The destruction caused by the explosion, the deafening sonic roar, and the violent seismic vibrations reached a truly divine level. The colossal wave of pure energy tore through the descending beast.

Everything in the attack’s path was entirely obliterated. When the silver light finally faded and color returned to the valley, not a single crystalline scale or drop of blood remained of the Winter Snow Serpent, as if... it never existed.
