Chapter 242: The Silver Statue

Once the blinding silver light faded and the violent tremors finally settled, the masked inquisitor slowly pushed himself up from the snow. He stared at the impossible devastation stretching out in front of him.

Solomon stood completely frozen in his striking posture, looking exactly as if he had been turned into a solid silver statue.

The inquisitor marched forward, his boots sinking deep into the powdery snow until he reached the epicenter of the destruction. He surveyed the area up close, checking the perimeter to ensure the mechanical owl wasn’t hovering nearby.

’Where did the drone go?’ the inquisitor wondered, glancing around the cratered valley. ’Did it get completely vaporized in the blast radius?’ The assumption was entirely correct. The bronze owl had been destroyed by the apocalyptic shockwave.

He then looked at the massive trail of devastation. The sheer range of the attack defied belief. The crescent wave had not only atomized the colossal serpent but had also carved a perfect, clear corridor through the turbulent sky.

The dark clouds were entirely parted, and the snow had completely stopped falling within that zone.

Warm, golden sunlight descended directly through the parted clouds, bathing Solomon in a radiant, ethereal glow, as the attack path had originated precisely from his position.

"Solomon?" The inquisitor walked up to the boy and called out his name, only to realize Solomon was completely unconscious.

He had passed out entirely on his feet, holding his striking stance simply because his muscles had locked up from exhausting every single drop of his spiritual and physical strength into that final thrust.

Under the warm golden rays of the morning sun, standing perfectly still amidst the chaotic destruction, the silver-haired boy looked majestic and almost divine.

"This level of pure destruction can only be caused by a 5-circle Archmage. Or... a meteor strike," the inquisitor muttered, his voice trembling behind his painted mask. "That could have easily razed an entire city to the ground in a single strike."

Suddenly, Solomon’s rigid grip failed. Eden’s Penance slipped from his numb fingers and plummeted tip-first into the cratered rock with a heavy thud.

The inquisitor looked down at the executioner’s sword. "He was only able to unleash such an apocalyptic level of destruction because of that divine relic," he muttered to himself, maintaining his flawed theory regarding the boy’s strength.

"The Church Union is hunting for this holy sword. If I were to confiscate it and hand it over to the veiled popes, my funding would increase exponentially. I could easily take a decade off and enjoy a permanent vacation."

Meanwhile, outside the spatial anomaly at the military encampment.

Around an hour had passed since Prince Ryu returned and the medical emergency had finally settled.

The uninjured soldiers returned to their designated posts, while King Shen, Pavilion Master Yue, and Sir Gideon gathered inside Captain Lancelot’s command pavilion to aggressively debate their next tactical steps.

Gideon slammed his armored fist onto the tactical map. "I can easily go inside and clear the rift myself! Why are all of you making such a big deal out of this operation?"

Lancelot shook his head. "According to the survival reports from the Holy Knights, the boss monster establishes a rift law that entirely restricts the use of aura. Furthermore, it creates a spatial barrier. Once the boss spots an enemy, that barrier will not disappear until one of the parties dies. It is an absolute death trap."

"Not being able to use my aura is not a problem for me," Gideon responded proudly, tapping his broadsword.

"The boss monster also possesses extreme regenerative capabilities," Lancelot interjected, keeping his tone calm and bureaucratic. "It is not a task someone should ever attempt solo. It requires a coordinated, multi-layered team mission."

Gideon snapped at the Holy Knight captain. "You are only stopping me because you do not want me to clear the rift! You know that if a Lumiere Paladin clears the dungeon, the Lumiere Dynasty will legally own every single resource found inside!"

"Everything inside the rift belongs to the faction who originally discovered the anomaly!" Lancelot shot back, defending the Union’s claim. "The remaining spoils will be shared according to the combat contributions of the raiding parties!"

"The Holy Knights had their chance to clear it, and you failed miserably!" Gideon argued, looming over the table. "By the laws of dungeon exploration, the claim is now forfeit. It belongs to whoever manages to clear it next!"

Yue rubbed her temples, a severe headache forming behind her eyes as she watched the two commanders bicker. While the dispute was an entirely valid political matter—with both men representing their respective nations and arguing for maximum profit, she was simply a pavilion master.

She did not care who claimed the loot or secured the exploration rights. For her, only her mission mattered.

She had been hired to find and secure Prince Ryu and King Shen. She had successfully located them, and all that remained was to safely escort them back to the Azure Moon Kingdom.

However, she quickly realized that departure would not happen until the spatial rift was permanently closed.

There was also the looming political issue regarding the Holy Empire’s illegal occupation of the Ruined Azure Kingdom, which only the paladin possessed the authority to solve.

She let out a tired sigh, excused herself from the command pavilion, and returned to the Azure Moon encampment to look for Solomon.

She first checked the dining tents where she had last seen him eating his stew, but the area was empty. Assuming he had simply gone to find more food, she checked the supply wagons and the cooking fires, but he was not there either.

She began asking the patrolling Azure Moon knights if they had seen the silver-haired boy. The soldiers simply shook their heads, having absolutely no idea who she was talking about.

None of them had seen Solomon.

’He must be training somewhere,’ Yue assumed, scanning the encampment for a high ground or a secluded boulder where he might be cultivating his newly opened cores.

She checked the entire perimeter, but he was nowhere to be found.

"Where has he disappeared to?"

She frowned, her frustration quickly boiling into anger. She snapped her jade fan open and swung it gracefully, sending a concentrated pulse of wind sweeping through the entire military camp.

Her furious expression slowly melted into unsettling concern.

She could not sense his spiritual signature anywhere in the valley.

She hurried back toward the center of the camp and ran directly into King Shen and Gideon, who were just returning from their heated debate with Lancelot.

"Solomon is gone," Yue reported, her voice laced with panic. "He is nowhere to be found in the camp."

King Shen immediately ordered his Azure Moon knights to spread out and search for the boy, dispatching a formal request to the Holy Knight encampment to assist in the search efforts.

Gideon remained standing by the tents, quietly pondering the situation. He had watched numerous broadcast clips of Solomon’s reckless adventures. He had also spent a few days traveling with the boy toward the ruined kingdom.

The paladin possessed a very clear understanding of Solomon’s chaotic, battle-hungry personality.

Gideon cleared his throat. "I think I might know exactly where he went."

"Where?" Yue asked, turning to the paladin.

Gideon slowly turned his head and pointed a gauntleted finger directly toward the pulsing, ominous spatial rift.

Yue’s face turned completely pale. "He... he would not do that. He promised me he would not do anything unprompted or reckless."

Just as the words left her mouth, the shifting purple colors of the spatial rift abruptly froze. The chaotic magical anomaly stabilized into a calm, swirling blue portal, sending a shockwave of surprise through the heavily armored guards stationed around the perimeter.

The sentries began to yell and shout, alerting the rest of the camp to the sudden dungeon shift.

King Shen, Gideon, and Yue sprinted across the dirt toward the stabilized portal.

A shadowy figure slowly walked out of the glowing blue vortex.

Yue held her breath, fully expecting to see the silver-haired boy swagger out of the portal with a wide grin.

Instead, the masked inquisitor stepped out of the portal, carrying the completely unconscious Solomon draped heavily over his back.

Captain Lancelot rushed to the stabilized portal, his golden armor clanking loudly as he pushed through the gathered crowd. He stopped and stared at the masked inquisitor carrying the unconscious teenager.

"What is going on here?" Lancelot demanded. "Why is this... who is he anyway? Why are you carrying him?"

He then shifted his gaze to the swirling blue vortex behind the inquisitor. The violent, chaotic purple energy had vanished completely.

"Heavens!" Lancelot gasped, his eyes widening in sheer disbelief. "You actually cleared the rift?!"
