Chapter 244: What is Lune Doing?

Meanwhile, deep within the heart of the Lumiere Dynasty capital, a luxurious carriage rolled to a stop outside a sprawling villa.

The estate belonged personally to Princess Lune.

A royal messenger wearing a feathered cap stepped out of the carriage. He hurried up the marble steps, receiving a brisk nod from the stationed guards, and knocked firmly on the heavy oak doors of the inner vestibule.

A maid opened the door a crack.

"I am here to deliver an urgent letter directly to Her Highness, Princess Lune," the messenger announced, holding out a wax-sealed parchment.

"I will take it and ensure she receives it," the maid responded smoothly, reaching for the letter.

The messenger pulled the parchment back, a bead of sweat forming on his brow. "I cannot do that. This letter is from the Emperor himself. He strictly insisted that I place it directly into the Princess’s hands."

The maid did not budge an inch. "And I absolutely insist that you give it to me so I can pass it along to her. The Princess is currently not in the mood to receive any guests or messengers."

Knowing he could not physically force his way past the royal staff, the messenger finally gave up. He reluctantly handed the sealed letter to the maid, bowed stiffly, and hurried back to his carriage.

The maid closed the heavy oak door.

It was none other than Vera, the master of the Shadow Assassin Pavilion, currently operating deep undercover as the princess’s personal attendant.

Vera walked up the grand staircase and approached Lune’s private chamber. She noticed the wooden door was left slightly ajar. Peeking inside, she saw Lune rolling enthusiastically across her massive silk mattress. The golden-haired princess kicked her legs in the air, giggling happily while an irrepressible smile stretched across her face.

Vera stared at the royal displaying such uncharacteristic joy. ’She has been acting exactly like this non-stop ever since she returned from the Azure Moon Kingdom,’ Vera thought to herself, entirely unamused by the romantic giddiness.

Vera cleared her throat loudly to announce her presence. "Your Highness, the Emperor has sent another letter for you."

Lune immediately stopped rolling. She sat up on the edge of the mattress and smoothed her sleepwear. "Read it for me, Vera."

"It is directly from the Emperor," Vera repeated, holding up the sealed parchment. "The messenger insisted that you read it yourself."

Lune let out a dramatic sigh and waved her hand dismissively. "I already know exactly what is written in that letter, Vera. Just read it."

Vera broke the royal wax seal, unfolded the parchment, and quickly scanned the elegant calligraphy. "It simply states that His Majesty wishes to have a formal meal with you. He is officially inviting you back to the imperial palace."

In the Lumiere Dynasty, the words of the Emperor were absolute law. Anyone disregarding or disrespecting a royal decree would typically meet an immediate public execution.

However, there was exactly one person in the entire empire who could not care less about what the Emperor wanted, and that was his own daughter, Lune.

"Burn that letter," Lune ordered, crossing her arms. "I am not going back to the palace, and I do not want to see his face."

When Lune had returned from the Azure Moon Kingdom three days ago, she marched straight into the imperial palace.

She formally requested the Emperor’s permission to return to the Eastern Realms so she could continue her exchange program at the Azure Dragon Sect. The Emperor had flatly dismissed her request, stating that the Eastern Realms were currently far too dangerous.

He officially prohibited her from traveling until the evil sects were completely dealt with.

That single rejection was enough for Lune. She immediately left the imperial palace, traveled directly to her private estate, and stubbornly refused to meet with anyone, attend royal discussions, or offer her opinion on any state matters.

Vera looked at the rebellious princess and simply handed her the open letter. "I would not dare to burn an imperial decree, Your Highness. If you could simply draft a brief reply, perhaps the messenger would stop showing up at our front door every single morning."

Lune tossed the letter carelessly onto her nightstand. She reached up and gently touched her fingertips to her lips, her mind instantly drifting back to the sunlit mountain peak and the breathtaking kiss with Solomon.

"Vera," Lune asked, her emerald eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Have you ever kissed anyone? Do you actually know how it feels?"

Vera simply stared at the princess with a completely blank, deadpan expression.

Lune ignored the silence and continued swooning. "It felt absolutely incredible. It was like a sudden spark of warm electricity. The way he looked at me right afterward... my heart has not stopped racing since that morning."

Vera pinched the bridge of her nose. She had had enough of this. This was Lune’s exact same swooning routine, repeated at least seven times a day ever since they returned to the capital.

Vera was utterly exhausted from hearing about it.

"That simple peck on the lips was nothing, Your Highness," Vera replied, her tone dripping with manufactured superiority. "A real kiss involves the intricate use of the tongue, the proper angling of the jaw, and the complete synchronization of breath."

Lune gasped, her eyes widening in pure shock. "Are you actually experienced in this?!"

Vera offered a subtle, haughty nod, clearly enjoying the sudden shift in the dynamic. "Of course. There is something out there that feels significantly better than even the most passionate kiss."

Lune’s face flushed a scandalous shade of crimson. "I... I know exactly what you are talking about, Vera! We do not need to discuss that right now!"

Vera nodded slowly, her eyes completely devoid of emotion. "Yes. Murder."

The joy instantly drained from Lune’s face, replaced by a look of sheer, horrified bewilderment.

"There is nothing quite like the rush of taking a life," Vera continued, entirely deadpan. "Watching the light fade from their eyes as your blade pierces their heart... it is truly exhilarating."

Lune let out a defeated sigh, realizing she had been completely played. "It has been three days since I returned from the Azure Moon Kingdom, but I still cannot forget that kiss," Lune muttered, rubbing her temples. "How come Solomon did not even react? He acted completely normal afterward! It is so unfair!"

"Since he mentioned that he had a girlfriend before the academy, he is probably highly experienced in this field," Vera offered logically. "He has likely done significantly more than just kissing. Given how hard working he is, he must have also been very good in bed."

Lune frowned deeply, her competitive jealousy flaring instantly. "I desperately need to find out exactly who Solomon’s ex-girlfriend was. Did you manage to find any intelligence on her?"

"I could not find a single scrap of information," Vera reported. "Solomon’s family, his civilian records, and his background are heavily encrypted and kept entirely hidden. This means the Live Streaming Academy administration is actively protecting his files. No outside faction or intelligence agency can access them. His fame is also increasing everyday and the amount of time his name gets mentioned in the forums is ridiculous."

"That is actually a very good thing," Lune responded, leaning back on her pillows. "Especially for Solomon. Given how incredibly serious and vulnerable he feels about his friends and family being targeted, that fear is exactly why he rejected me at the hot spring."

"He did not reject you, Your Highness," Vera pointed out. "He technically confessed his feelings to you later that morning on the mountain bench. Was that not the reason why you kissed him?"

Lune smiled softly, remembering the poetic confession about wanting to see the moon every single day and night.

She laid back on the mattress and looked up at the ceiling. "Vera, have you managed to secure more stones yet? I need to see Solomon’s live stream. I want to know what he is doing right now."

"Your monthly allowance of stones has been completely used up," Vera stated flatly. "The imperial treasurer refused to lend you any more stones until the next cycle. You cannot do anything right now except wait."

Lune clicked her tongue in annoyance. She lifted her injured arm, inspecting her healing fingers. "Once my hand gets fully healed and the healers clear me for combat, I will personally complete a few high-bounty guild missions and buy those stones myself."
